    Jason, I love these videos. You are providing a great service to aspiring pilots. Everything explained so well.

    Flaps in a C-172 are used on landing to lower the stall speed so the landing approach can be safely flown at a speed 1.3 times the stall speed. Thess are usually 1/2 or 1;4 flaps. Then on short final or a bit sooner drop full flaps. On takeoff in a C-172 flaps are used only for a short or soft field takeoff and raised immediately after obtaining normal climb speed.

    Thank you. Remember we need adjust the final course to the RWY in use before set the NAV and APP . Don´t forget reduce the Throttle on final in order to set flaps. Thank You.

    I have a question,in a flight plan what is the difference between selecting approach procedure and selecting arrival procedure?

    and did you tune your frequency ?

    while landing, what are the things which we have to do by ourself like throttle ,flaps, etc, or does the autopilot does everything?

    • @richintile7986
      @richintile7986 5 лет назад

      Excellently presented. Easy to follow. How is speed and flaps controlled? Are they performed via the NAV glideslop or is there any pilot intervention required?

    • @mohammadrezabiglari5363
      @mohammadrezabiglari5363 5 лет назад +3

      No this type of aicrafts do not have speed autopilot. You should decrease by opening your flaps one by one when on ILS. "2" opens flaps and "1" retracts them. Also control engines power by F2 and F1

      no a cessna does not have auto thrust or an auto flaps system, the newer ones they have now that go like 400 might
      but not too sure

    how can you put the pink arrow next to AVVON? mine is stuck at CYOW

  • @D800Lover

    Seems to be a very high speed landing, was no flaps applied? Nothing was communicated about the throttle and we could not see the dial. Is this standard followed by other real world pilots?

    Once You entered your information for + 5 with navigation on the auto pilot is now active Why not set your DG to run way take off get to a 1000 AGL Then activate your way points with gps Then tune to nav for ILS approach
    Thank you

    How did you open up the planner on your screen. The active plan. Also asks me to fix true north for GPS. Also can you explain the 2992 that repeats. Just got started as you can see. Lol

    So are you using a GPS approach here ?

    I am having issues on the approach part. My autopilot won't automatically descend when I enter the glidescope. I just keep flying past the airport. Am I missing something? Thanks for you videos!

    Aren't you meant to have an approach at the end of the flight plan (you said this in your approach video)

    • @JasonVriends

      If you want to fly "by the rules" the answer is Yes. However, sometimes you may wish to opt for a direct route in the simulator.

  • @wowmanco557

    I'm following direction in the video but the plane never makes the last turn towards the airport. It follows every flight point except the last one. I'm flying from KMIA>PIONN>KFLL, but the plane keeps heading north at PIONN instead of turning right to face to the runway.

    Please do a new video with the updated auto pilot and G530, the updated version of Cessna 172 is so confusing, I cant even perform a normal ILS auto landing with the new one , please.

    Sorry, this video is outdated. My current version will not engage the ap. You need to redo the video with the latest controls. I wasted hours trying to get it to work

    If I am not perfectly lined up, and I press the approach button, will the plane line up by itself?

    • @mohammadrezabiglari5363
      @mohammadrezabiglari5363 5 лет назад

      Cessna 172 on Xplane is not very good at ILS approach in autopilot. You also have to set the heading bug into the actual heading of the runway which you can find only on the web.
      On other commersial jets, ILS landing is way easier and more straightforward.

    • @JasonVriends

      There is a command called "Servos Toggle" that you can assign to a Joystick or Keyboard button.

    Please learn a little about actually flying a plane. DO NOT FLY THE FLIGHT THE FLAPS DOWN,! You showed an exterior view which clearly shows the flaps are down.
