Wow, what a laborious process! Really makes you appreciate the item and all the work that goes into it. It’s wild how easy it is to go to the store to buy any object our hearts desire...yet, adding more intentional pieces such as this to my life would allow me to slow down and really question how much I need of any one thing. Really great video - thanks for sharing!
Thank you Carissa. I know your comment is from quite a while ago and we haven't connected in a while but it means a lot to come across this now. All of this is so true. And sometimes I forget and just buy for convenience still! I need to remind myself that something more intentionally made is usually more fulfilling to own and use! I hope you are doing well.
Yea! it is our preferred method. We use spikes for plates and large bowls though as the torque is much stronger. I realize its a long time since you made this comment. Have you tried it since? Also are you from Germany? We have a craft gathering called Von Hand in September near Schwabisch Hall. Would be great to have you!
@@WildCraftedHome I think I tried it for turning buttons and that worked well. Still have to do a bowl; my lathe is better suited to spindle turning. Thanks for the information on "Von Hand", I live in the West of Germany, but if I can make it, I'd be interested to attend. I'll check out the webseite some more.

Morgan, I see a project of using the wood shavings somehow!
Such a late reply. These comments are just showing up for the first time! I'll have to get you some shavings.....I'd love to see them go to more use
Now there's an interesting technique with the mandril tenoned into the blank. I only knew the nail spikes variant. Gotta try that one out. 👍Grüße
