Multiplayer has been like this even before Unite. It just makes newbies feel a lot more discouraged. Edit: got to Gold 4 but Christ alive the balancing is really ruined. Imagine being F2P in 2024 while facing against 2018 players.
Mp sucks for that reason unless you're driving a maxed out car or next to a maxed out car with stats of 300km and above 60 to 80 in acceleration and handling then theres no point in mp

This game is a pain in butt. Why? When I first opened the game, it was ok, but the graphics were shit and MP match is just the worst and when I opened it for the second time.... It was a black screen after the Gameloft logo and other than the music and the Google Play pop up, it doesn't even work. I still have it but don't use it at all

I have an 8 gen 1 powered decive and before the update, the graphics were crisp, sharp and clean not to mention the constant 60 fps Now after the update, it has become a blurry mess, the frame drops are horrible and painful, my phone has also taken a huge battery hit and temperature rise
I used to play on a phone with SD865 with max graphics and smooth 60fps, now it's a blurry mess, the frames often drops down to 32 fps and the phone heats up even on the main menu.

I was a too 500 switch in asphalt 9 before... Now i don't even understand why my car is stuck at 200km/h when i turn instead if drift. And i can't drift below 150km/h ! The physics are broken, i start the multiplayer game while everyone is already mid track, i can't even turn because my car with 80 in steering doesn't want to... Seriously i was top 500 and now i struggle to reach bronze II ! Come on Gameloft change these physics! Asphalt 9's ones were way better!
The Multiplayer rank based on car... Think of cars like GS and hurucan. Cars that are agile type. What car that is more than 3800 and less than 4200. A lot of the good B class cars. But Vanda is a king based on that range of rank alone. Drive cars like the Pagani Imola, you'll be thrown in a pit of S class cars.
Like I said this game need to start from scratch and they need to get rid of all the nonsense like crashes, fixed control gameplay, sliding off roads, those too many unnecessary different paths, pickup nitro bottle and make the to play like racing legends, then Asphalt would be a good racing game, but as long it's playing this, it will remain one of the worse racing game ever made.
Its funny how GL exploits the fun gameplay of their game, and trying to dry any last coin from players, and at the same time ruin this gameplay by doing terrible level designs, i always thought its wrong that they give to upgrade cars that they have ansurd fast speed, which is makes them barely playable on certain maps, because of that speed player will crash soooo often

This update literally made an otherwise mid game into somewhat of a pc/console quality product. The graphics now actually look cinematic with less aliasing and more effects for what it has been for all these years. Cry more.
