In my opinion, David’s Bach recordings are redefining guitar history. I am so extremely happy we have these documents to consult and refer to when we think of great Bach interpretations. Magnificent playing, David! And thanks to Omni for producing this project.

Russell is absolutely amazing. Saw him in Baltimore and sat behind Manuel Barrueco and had to tell him how much I've enjoyed his LPs since the 70s. Two Grammy Winners in the same room together!
I remember the day when I first saw David on RUclips. Since then my guitar music world has changed. I've learned more then 30 pieces (Villa Lobos, Bach, Granados etc.) Thank you David for opening to me that magical world
David, Your playing is on a level I will never attain in a million years. I thank you for bringing to my ears that magic which is possible to hear but alas impossible for me to play as I would like. I try every day to improve and just sometimes a piece comes off well enough for me to rise up and be just a little pleased with myself, and helps me persevere.

I am learning/preparing this suite. This gold standard recording is essential - the camera angles are a tremendous gift and the audio recording quality is phenomenally good. My goodness - this is sublime. I have just realised how much ornament practice I have to revisit 🤣 Mr Russell - bless your cotton socks mate 🙏🏼❤️
This one is by far the best one. What an amazing effort, not only on the playing but the entire production and concept. We many times forget that what we do as artists must have relevance beyond the notes, even Bach's. Biggest congratulations!

Estem, en la meva opinió, davant, molt possiblement, del millor guitarrista de tots els temps. La seva extraordinària musicalitat, el seu virtuosisme, la seva tècnica prodigiosa, aquests tres elements fan d'ell un intèrpret singular, únic en la història de la guitarra.

I have listened to the lute suites many times since about 1965. David DEFINES how they should be played. They are musically superior to all other renditions I have heard. Awesome!

The performance is impeccable as always and it would be great if you could record these Suites as it would be amazing to have these on CD.I think you are the greatest living classical guitarist and I try to get something vaguely approaching your tone!. I wish you would come to the UK more often. I play the organ and piano too so would love to hear that instrument.

Great work, Maestro. I would like personally just few more breaths, but this is a top rendition. We met in Rome, I think was 1998, in one of your masterclass: I played Ponce Sonatina Meridional. This Suite 995 I brought for my diplome in the far 1986, then I left it to play the other Bach Suites, all gems, but I still think this is the most "lutenist" despite derived from the cello. So now this video is like a masterclass to take it back in my hands. Really impressive the presto. Many thanks for your share Maestro Russell. Let me know if you will play in Rome, best wishes.
