Game literally starts with the narrator saying "It all starts with a dead girl". Gab, not two minutes later: "Is he gonna shoot the girl?" Perfect Gab opening of a new video, I'm hooked.
Here's what I think regarding Marianne's powers: she got second degree burns as a toddler. Seeing the treatments, probably from a fire. Considering she was only three, she might have been 'on the brink of death' which granted her the possibility to cross over between worlds. This would also explain the feathered arm and her damaged leg when she is in the spirit world. That's where she got severe burns.
"Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out! Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."
Gab, I have always been so impressed with your mastery of not only 2 but 3 languages! You speak English better than a lot of people! Dont even worry about the petty complaints.
Not even petty but ignorant. The way a proper noun for a person is pronounced can only be validated by the person itself. So in the case of peripheral characters in a game, movie, book et al whose names are only appearing in written form it is just a best effort exercise.
@@forklessI know it’s late but to be fair if there is voice acting in a game there’s definitely generally a canon way to pronounce the name that is preferred by the creators. That being said, it’s obviously not cool to critique and hassle someone for simply having an accent
As a Polish person, I was completely not aware of this game! It's so amazing seeing our country represented in a game like this! There have been Polish games in the past, plnety of them quite great, but none so explicitly about Poland, this is great! Also, "Studnie przodków" (the forefathers' wells) is such a wonderful, fun book, I love Joanna Chmielewska (as do many Polish readers), it's so cool to find it in the game, I feel so weirdly touched Goobers trying to read Polish names cracks me up, but no shade, they're hard to get right if you don't know the rules, you're doing great, vhaha
Very cool, I found the part with her talking to her dead Father very moving. The left hand/arm is used to cut tarot cards as well as to deal, because it's closest to the heart so you can connect to the spiritual world. That way you can get clearer readings, maybe that's where the game creator's got the idea of the spirit arm. Just a thought. Loving the play through Gab's, looking forward to the next one😀
This is possibly the most terrifying thing I have ever seen. It's probably mostly because I love Beksinski, but also the storytelling is so emotional and that just makes things that would ordinarily creepy become terrifying
I really like your stories about your time in Poland. My family, several generations back, came from Poland and my dad will do cooking a lot of food in advance thing and I thought it was just to save time lol, maybe it's a tradition
The way you pronounced "Cracow" in polish at 56:45 sounds just about right! And yup, my grandma also used to prepare dinners to last for 2 or 3 days, I guess I can say it is a polish custom in some kind of way :D
I totally agree with the growing a Tree from my ashes. I think it is a great way to be cremated and yet still have a burial marker for loved ones left behind. There is a cemetery in the next town over from me that actually has a forest of these trees and have people tend them so they are healthy and don't die.
The moment when Gab was so happy when she saw text to read was the most adorable and wholesome thing I have seen in a horror gameplay... I hope you continue enjoying the game Gab! Looking forward to more episodes!!
This is awesome. I'm from around Krakow/Cracow and when you described how your exchange friend's mum cooked so much food at once to last few days...yeah. Moms in Poland do that a lot 🤣🤣🤣 it's so cool to know you've seen Krakow! From what I can see so far (still watching) it's incredibly deep into polish culture, religion and design of the 90s the developers did incredible job. And you pronouncing things is really fun, don't worry about haters :D
They really did an incredible job with the environments! The look of the apartment is like taken out of some photos from the 90's from Poland. The details got me flabberghasted, I don't think I have ever seen such good show of how a house in poland in the 90's looked like.
The ball falling down the stairs is a classic scare, featuring in a lot of scary stories. But the first time it's in an actual movie is, IIRC, The Changeling with George C Scott, one of the best haunted house movies of the 70's-80's.
4:30 we have this tipe of teacups in russian trains! omg soo nostalgic! I remember them from my childhood and they are still used now: glass cup inside and an iron holder (which is so stupid if you think about it, it gets suuuper hot because of the tea and I've burned my fingers several times when I was a child😂)
@@blueignis764 ahaha right? still so nice to have and hold them, they have such intricate designs sometimes! There were series of thematic cup holders in USSR with different places depicted on them or war-themed images, they are a piece of history for sure
Child of former Eastern Germany here, we had those too! To this day you will find those in the houses of your grandparents, especially when they live on the country side. It's really nostalgic xD I remember the holder being also made out of colourful hard plastic instead of iron as well.
LOL the part where the demon jumps up at the door, I screamed and almost fell off the chair, definitely need a sequel to this game it was phenomenal and the scares were amazing, even without MAW chasing after you, it was the atmosphere because you just didn't know what was going to happen.
She mentioned Jack owning the funeral home in his room and she mentions that they lived above it when you first go to the exit but then go back to check what you missed before moving on. This isn't a criticism, just letting you know. I feel like I miss information in games all the time and don't realise until I play through again.
Is anyone else wondering if Gab is in the right headspace for this game right now? In the first like 30 minutes it felt like all of the things the game was telling her subtly (like the calendar clearly shows Jack had a brain tumor or something along those lines, the exposition clearly said "we lived over the mortuary" and then Gab was shocked they lived over the mortuary, and the main girl used to get in trouble for telling the kids at school what their recently dead were up to but Gab was shocked to realized she was a medium) were totally missed. Like it feels like she was so focused on something else and feeling so uncomfortable about it that she missed everything the game was trying to tell her. I hope she's not like pushing herself to play this despite being very uncomfortable with how close to home it is.
Considering that Seán recently lost his father, I can understand your concern. I’d be lying if I said the thought hadn’t crossed my mind as well. I’m really glad Evelien and Seán have each other... and BB, of course. 💚🥺🥺💚
I saw my grandad in a open casket and it was honestly traumatizing. I will never forget how terrifying it was. They put the makeup all on him but a body without a soul is something you can't cover up with makeup. So scary! I hate that that was my last memory of my grandad.
The camera work in this game is next level. The panning/zooming/etc. that it does (like 40:41 - 40:53) even while Marianne is walking obviously took a lot of effort to get right.
I love how happy she looks when she gets to perform certain actions in these games. She has such a light in her eyes. I love it!!! Always keep that light Gab. I needed to see this.
The story of the polish mom making a ton of food for a few days makes me think of my own mom making a huge pot of menudo or posole in the winter and we eat that for a few days ^_^ Also, bekzinski inspired spirit world with akira yamaoka and arkadiusz reikowski for the soundtrack, super excited to watch this! playthrough!
It's so good to see open conversation about death and end of life options! Also, in regard to those bio-urns that grow trees, they don't really work from what I've read. A better option would be to mix the cremated remains into soil and fertilizer, until there's more soil than remains, and then plant a tree in that! The cremated remains on their own don't have enough nutrients to encourage a tree to flourish 🖤
It's so weird for me to see Poland in games, I recognised things like architecture and furniture from that time, my grandparents still have some furniture in that style. I'm so exited to watch you play this game !
Omg, when I saw the notification I was like "yeees". I've been wanting to check this game for a while, but none of the channels I follow had played yet but now this came and made my day a thousand times better because I can see how the game is, with one of the best people
You never realize that there's something like Polish style until you start watching this not knowing it's a Polish game, you see the first interior and you're like "holy shit, this looks like my grandparents' house!".
Wow that first scene with the spirit realm really got me 😭😭😭 I have recurring dreams about a beach type place where my grandparents appeared after they died. Its so painful to see them. Nice but also painful when I wake up.
This game really feels like a piece of art. Reminds me of the first time I watched Until Dawn - really get’s me excited about the stories games can tell.
I know this video came out a few hours ago but! I think the little spiky things on the characters arm in the spirit world could be where some of her other burns are! Obviously idk if this is true but interesting to me! Either way loving this game and love you Gab!!
I'm so damn ready for this, can't wait for the next episode!!! I love this kind of games, slow paced, atmospheric, lots of puzzles... And terrifying monsters lurking around of course XD
Ough Marianne and Jack hit me real hard. I lost my father two years ago, and my mother 9 years prior, and stuff relating to deceased parents makes me real uncomfy I remember the beginning of guardians of the galaxy really got me, and my friend refused to tell me for whatever reason about Starlord's mom.
I’m currently binge watching both of your little nightmares series and I’m addicted XD I love your let’s plays so much Gab! Thank you for making these videos it really makes my day
I LOVE this perspective. Kind of explains why everyday people who can't see this stuff would call a person like her crazy, delusional or with an inflated/distorted self image.
I love that you're so aware of the technicalities that go behind the game itself :D I'm an aspiring concept artist and seeing people pay attention to the details like the textures, shots, etc.. really makes me happy :D glad i got you in my recommended section :)
I was about to answer what I would want for myself when I die, but you basically answered exactly what I wanted: I want to be cremated and have a tree planted on my grave. Thinking a tree that would be easy to climb and in a place that I could pass down to my family for generations, so I would be with them for decades, if not centuries.
When you talked about going to Poland and the mom making a ton of food - it is a Polish thing! Or at least, I'm pretty sure because my mom's family is primarily Polish, and that has always been a thing for us.
I'm really looking forward to the next episodes, it's really a great game none of the youtubers I know played it, but I'm really glad you will bc you're one of my favorite youtubers love you so much
I think it’s cool this takes place in Poland! I’m part polish and my dad speaks polish quite well. And yes, Cracow is pronounced Cra-cof. This game looks really good so far! I’m excited for next episode!
I actually just bursted into tears watching the first twenty-eight minutes this because two friends of mine had passed away recently and I miss them so much. I almost didn't even want to watch this because of my losses. I know y'all are gonna tell me that if I can't handle this video then I shouldn't watch it, but I just really wanted to see what this game was like after looking it up a couple times when the trailer for it dropped.
agree, i really wish the next silent hill will return to this kind of 3rd person cinematic fixed camera angle like this. and i believe blooper can do it
I'm with you Gab. I hate that at the end of every funeral they make everyone go row by row by the casket. I always feel so rude because you know the family is watching everyone say their goodbyes and there I am staring at the ground walking as fast as possible outta there Edit: holy sh*t I've never met anyone else that wants to be cremated and made into a tree! My family thinks I'm weird but I think it's beautiful.
I also want to turn into a tree! I think it's the most romantic thing you can do. That from your body, you can help something grow. It's kinda morbid but that's how things work with nature. At least something beautiful would grow after I die instead of just withering inside a wooden box. And I like to imagine that if more people did it, we could actually "build" a forest like that. That's so awesome!
Considering how much of horror is rooted in real grief and catharsis of those feelings, I'm glad streamers like you exist! You were so human and sensitive about the content over just trying to find the next scare. I knew I couldn't play this game because it was too close to reality, as you said, but playing it with you was a very nice experience. Thank you for this!
I came here to explain what I wanted when I die (I absolutely have thought about it, and my husband knows what to do if I pass before him) and in the process Gabs you described what I want! I don't want my body to be a waste of space when I die -- if I have anything useful for someone else, take the organs, and then cremate what is leftover and use it to feed a tree! If it's a pleasing tree to visit even better 😊 Love that it's not just me!

Buspirone -> anxiolytic (to treat anxiety disorders)
I love how excited gab gets talking about games she has played.
I remember that Fatal Frame 3 lets you pet the cat. God, I feel old.
We are old mate
For people who like how this game looks. Spirit world in that game is inspired by paintings of polish artist Zdzisław Beksiński.
Game literally starts with the narrator saying "It all starts with a dead girl".
Gab, not two minutes later: "Is he gonna shoot the girl?"
Perfect Gab opening of a new video, I'm hooked.
They found the HOLY HAND GRENADE OF ANTIOCH! Monty Python throwback. At 9:46
"Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out! Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."
Ha! Good catch!
I love the 'Road difficulties' section too.
Back here to listen for Sean screaming downstairs in the background? Go here: 2:07
Thank you 😂
HAHAHAHA HE WAS SO MAD. I know what he was screaming at too, just finishing his let's play of it
@@LilRedWitch What game?
That’s so funny 😂 would also be curious to know which game he was yelling at
@@marika4836 little nightmares 2! I was watching this while he was playing little nightmares 2
As a Polish person, I was completely not aware of this game! It's so amazing seeing our country represented in a game like this! There have been Polish games in the past, plnety of them quite great, but none so explicitly about Poland, this is great!
Also, "Studnie przodków" (the forefathers' wells) is such a wonderful, fun book, I love Joanna Chmielewska (as do many Polish readers), it's so cool to find it in the game, I feel so weirdly touched
Goobers trying to read Polish names cracks me up, but no shade, they're hard to get right if you don't know the rules, you're doing great, vhaha
I'm from Poland and I swear there's no more nostalgical thing than that wall-cabinet from the start-
I’ve already seen a play through of this but I came back just for best gal Gab
The way you pronounced "Cracow" in polish at 56:45 sounds just about right! And yup, my grandma also used to prepare dinners to last for 2 or 3 days, I guess I can say it is a polish custom in some kind of way :D
This game gets to join Last of Us in the "Made me cry before the title screen" list, holy crap
Okay I started crying in the first 28 minutes, gonna need tissues for this walk through
Literally was thinking yesterday on why no one that I'm subbed to played this game... love your vids Gab!
Literally, I was thinking the exact same thing and then BOOM, Gabs showed up, lol
Literally 😂
I totally agree with the growing a Tree from my ashes. I think it is a great way to be cremated and yet still have a burial marker for loved ones left behind. There is a cemetery in the next town over from me that actually has a forest of these trees and have people tend them so they are healthy and don't die.
I love her interactions with Sadness, you get to see more emotions from Marianne. Irony is she's happier about Sadness lol
My grandma also has them (I'm Polish) and as soon as I saw them I just felt super nostalgic. But yeah, idk who thought that that design is smart lol
@@EdithWildflowers yep, some trains here have them in red or reddish-orange colored plastic now! but the iron ones are for sure cooler in my opinion 😄
@@Mom_spagetti99 Absolutely, they are way cooler! Especially since they often had little scenes or general patterns on them. Much more fun xD
The story of the polish mom making a ton of food for a few days makes me think of my own mom making a huge pot of menudo or posole in the winter and we eat that for a few days ^_^
Also, bekzinski inspired spirit world with akira yamaoka and arkadiusz reikowski for the soundtrack, super excited to watch this! playthrough!
The visuals to this game is SO APPEALING! Oh my gosh, wow!
It's so weird for me to see Poland in games, I recognised things like architecture and furniture from that time, my grandparents still have some furniture in that style. I'm so exited to watch you play this game !
I just love how you can hear Sean screaming during the intro
Omg, when I saw the notification I was like "yeees". I've been wanting to check this game for a while, but none of the channels I follow had played yet but now this came and made my day a thousand times better because I can see how the game is, with one of the best people
You never realize that there's something like Polish style until you start watching this not knowing it's a Polish game, you see the first interior and you're like "holy shit, this looks like my grandparents' house!".
Wow that first scene with the spirit realm really got me 😭😭😭
I have recurring dreams about a beach type place where my grandparents appeared after they died. Its so painful to see them. Nice but also painful when I wake up.
Troy Baker can do it all, from being utterly loved as Joel, to utterly feared as The Maw, gotta love the talent ❤
And terrifying monsters lurking around of course XD
the graphics are insane. the depth, reflection, everything
Ough Marianne and Jack hit me real hard.
I lost my father two years ago, and my mother 9 years prior, and stuff relating to deceased parents makes me real uncomfy
I remember the beginning of guardians of the galaxy really got me, and my friend refused to tell me for whatever reason about Starlord's mom.
I literally didn't watch any playthroughs because I was waiting for yours! love you!! :D
It's always hilarious when you can just hear Sean screaming or else yelling in the background and Gab is recording calmly 😂😂😂
Who else wants to just lay on that couch and listen to Gabs? It looks so comfy and with BB up there, so cozy! Love it!
About 22 minutes into this and ...well, this hits so close to home. I can't help tearing up. Sending much love to everyone.
My grandmother had an open casket. I absolutely refused to approach it, and I do not regret it.
Round of applause to Nate for the editing such a long stream, it was really fun to watch :) *chef's kiss*
18:53 of course he did. You already forgot the part where she talks about how he was a humble Christian man who owned a funeral home.
Hey, I'm Polish. It's surprisingly fun to see your own language in a game :)
JD
Bloober never fails to amaze me with the way they do chase sequences in their games
When you talked about going to Poland and the mom making a ton of food - it is a Polish thing! Or at least, I'm pretty sure because my mom's family is primarily Polish, and that has always been a thing for us.
20:30 yes. My sister knows my wishes. I want the tree treatment too. Be a part of the circle of liiiife. Cause it moves us all.
I'm really looking forward to the next episodes, it's really a great game none of the youtubers I know played it, but I'm really glad you will bc you're one of my favorite youtubers love you so much
Viking funeral is probably one of the more eccentric ways to go, and is definitely my go to
I think it’s cool this takes place in Poland!
Ooooo yay I’ve been waiting for you to play this so I’ve kept myself in the dark!! Thank you :)
It's good to see you back in your roots of Survival Horror. I love watching these playthroughs.
Way cool. Looking like Bloober may be producing the next Silent Hill for Konami.
agree, i really wish the next silent hill will return to this kind of 3rd person cinematic fixed camera angle like this. and i believe blooper can do it
"Everyone's special... Means that nobody is" that line always reminds me of The Incredibles lol
I'm with you Gab. I hate that at the end of every funeral they make everyone go row by row by the casket. I always feel so rude because you know the family is watching everyone say their goodbyes and there I am staring at the ground walking as fast as possible outta there
Edit: holy sh*t I've never met anyone else that wants to be cremated and made into a tree! My family thinks I'm weird but I think it's beautiful.
There’s a company trying to launch that turns you into pet food for your dog/cat or general nature.
@@Izzy-uh9wp really? I feel like a ‘people” forest is pure concentrated nightmare fuel.
@@ItsAllG00d Do you find forests frightening?
Considering how much of horror is rooted in real grief and catharsis of those feelings, I'm glad streamers like you exist! You were so human and sensitive about the content over just trying to find the next scare. I knew I couldn't play this game because it was too close to reality, as you said, but playing it with you was a very nice experience. Thank you for this!
This game also has ray tracing like Control, that's why the reflections and lighting looks so good!
Dunno if the console version has it tho.
It should. Control does for consoles. (Pro, etc. only)
Butterflies are believed to be loved ones departing to the afterlife so maybe that’s why they have them
I came here to explain what I wanted when I die (I absolutely have thought about it, and my husband knows what to do if I pass before him) and in the process Gabs you described what I want! I don't want my body to be a waste of space when I die -- if I have anything useful for someone else, take the organs, and then cremate what is leftover and use it to feed a tree! If it's a pleasing tree to visit even better 😊 Love that it's not just me!
You’re so chill, I love listening to your videos when I’m about to sleep keep up the amazing work Gab!
