I moved to Arizona in 2017 when the cost of living was a lot cheaper than it is now so I figured if I’m going to struggle in AZ because investors from cali are moving to AZ buying up properties and raising prices like it’s cali so after 5 years I’m back home in Chicago

Wow I’m from Chicago and moved here in November 2019. I love it but there are other factors that makes me want to leave too. It’s like I feel like I’m staying stagnant being here. It’s easy to get content but if you’re in your 20s you shouldn’t waste time. I don’t have my own family/children and I just feel like that would be difficult to accomplish here. Crazy that im now considering Texas because the no state tax or going back to Chicago until I decide elsewhere. The same prices in IL are about the same here in AZ now for something “decent” due to inflation. So everywhere is expensive you just gotta decide what fits your life goals like you said. I was looking to give to Arizona about a year ago but after doing my research I found the pay grade was way below what I was. asking. I am now in North Carolina, for 10 months, and loving it. Relocated from Connecticut and so far no regrets.
Any advice you have for researching a potential city you want to move to? Did you visit NC before moving there?

Most people from the Midwest leave Arizona after a couple years. It’s really not better than the Midwest except for the weather

I visited last May and fell in love. Just was not a fan of the homeless population in terms of it was so sad. Fell in love with the Muslim community, the architecture, the weather,and the food. What types of things would you say would make someone from the Midwest not like it?
@@nadiadansani2139 the cost of living fora 1 bdrm start at 1400 in good areas. School system for kids is atrocious; most job don’t pay well. Severely lacking in black culture. You speak of the homeless. They are EVERYWHERE. At the stores, stop lights and apartments complexes. (Only rent from complexes with security gates). If you can deal with those things, you might like it long term.
