    Agreed, huge underrated signing. I wanted the Magic to sign him. I can't believe he signed for so little.
    Orlando played last season, basically without a point guard. I would have loved a guy that could hit 3's and get Paolo some easy buckets.
    Big pick up for Phoenix.

      It’s the coach Bud signing that changed everything for PHX. Cannot wait.
      I hope AB develops into a solid backup pg for Orlando. Or maybe, find a way to get Antfree Simmons in January

    Sad day in Grit And Grind land when we lost Tyus Jones, but I always knew that teams would want him , I’m glad he’s going to a better team. He deserves it big time!

    Tyus Jones, Royce O' Neale both excellent "discount" signings for PHX. Monte Morris great backup PG signing.

      Royce wasn't cheap, but the suns do got two decent tradeable contracts.
      Suns assistant coaches are well selected as well.
      Tyus, will help suns to play faster, suns play, they have decent line up changes on the call.
      Suns still can get another piece when Nassir Little could be traded.

    As a rare Wizards fan who watched at least half their games last year, Tyus Jones at $3 million is a steal. The passing, decision making, and shooting are all there as you said. I have to push back on the idea that he is not a bad defender. He brings no size or ability on that end of the floor. Fundamentally, I can't imagine a Jones/Booker/Beal/KD/Nurkic team defending any team well. That said, Jones is much much better than a $3 million player and this was a great add. Will be rooting for him there as he was a top-class guy at Washington despite it being terrible there. Thanks for all the great content guys!

      @@aero7882 Totally valid point. I just know he is the kind of guy you need to cover for. I think it makes more sense to pair him with a defensive shooting guard or bring him off the bench. Especially around playoff time.

      You guys need to do what the Suns did: raise a stink at a public city meeting and demand that Wizards ownership show that they care about winning if they expect taxpayer money to keep being dumped into their pockets. The Pistons did it this last season as well with loud "Sell the team" chants that forced Pistons ownership to rapidly change course regarding what the plan was to make them competitive again. Wizards haven't won 50 games since 1980: the Suns' mess of 49 games last year was the same result as Beal/Wall/Gortat at their best, 49 wins. That's pathetic, and now they hired the guy who helped orchestrate the Pistons's failed rebuild climaxing with the worst losing streak in NBA history (Troy Weaver), with all their big trade pieces being cashed out far after their peak so that it's pennies to the dollar, even promising young guys starting team friendly deals (Deni)... or worse, they walk away with no return at all like Tyus.
      I'm from Richmond VA by the way. It'd be nice to drive up to DC for reasons other than to watch the other team play for cheap.

    Tyus Jones as a starting point guard with the big 3 on the floor and healthy, and Mason Plumlee as a backup center along with the likes of Royce O'Neale and Grayson Allen coming of the bench, that's huge. More than most people realise. The Suns are in great shape. They will be a serious threat next year. Oh, and they now have new coach with a defensive mindset.

    I love this signing. They really need someone to run the show. Still can't believe no one would pay him. High Potential as a starting PG. I thought at least 10 per year for him.

    Great analysis because great signing in my opinion best contract in the NBA losing him for Marcus smart is stupid for me because they had the best points guard rotation because when they tyus Jones and de Anthony Melton if only they gave them a long term cheap contract then they would never loose them because morant can play the shooting guard but tyus Jones is a great backup point that can do anything in the offensive in and a better good defender better than morant and Melton can defend guards and shooting guard the morant can score relentlessly in the paint and he was improving on his jump shot so think they had the best pg rotation with versatility to play some of the shooting guard

    Tyus Jones is one of the last "true" point guards left in the NBA: Someone who looks to set teammates up rather than score the ball. The trouble is how much will he really handle the ball? Moreover, if Booker, Beal and Durant start, he'd have to come off the bench.

    • @tashied422
      @tashied422 2 месяца назад

      Thats not true at all. He will be a starter. Grayson Allen would be the one who gets benched. It will either be Booker or Beal who takes the 3 position

    • @HoopsAficionado
      @HoopsAficionado 2 месяца назад +1

      @@tashied422 Beal is like 6:3. He's too small to cover threes. Booker is bigger but still small for the small forward spot. Those line-ups will compound their size / rebounding problems. If Beal gets injured, it might make the choice easier.

      He's not the answer to all their problems, he's just one of them. I already know where this is going. Offensively Tyus fixes their TO issues.
      They now have a coach that's competent on the offensive end, so instead of finishing 10th in offense, they will finish somewhere in the top 3 next season.
      They were 10th in defense last season, so you can't use the, "no defense" argument. So what else is there? Injury prone players?
      KD played 75 games, Beal played 53 and Book played 68 last season. The only person we really need to be worried about is Beal. And he was available for the playoffs, so there's that.
