Holy crap *SO MUCH MISINFORMATION IN THESE COMMENTS.* This is an LH2 RWD Northstar, NOT A FWD LD8/L37!!! These *DO NOT* have head gasket issues like the FWD cars have. They share the name and displacement only with the FWD cars - these do NOT blow head gaskets. They are extremely reliable drivetrains and few people know the VAST difference between the FWD and RWD versions. These engines go up WAY past 200,000 miles with simple maintenance. Join STS Owners Group on Facebook where we know what we’re talking about when it comes to these. Everybody thinks because the word Northstar is mentioned that it equals head gaskets - not the case with the XLR, STS, SRX and the XLRV & STSV with the supercharged version - the LC3. These are cheap to maintain and reliable, keep it, and do not listen to people who don’t know what they’re talking about once they hear the word Northstar.
the Northstar was great when it worked. there were two types a 280hp and a 300hp version ive got many hrs working on them. and it was worth every minute.
This is not those engines! This is an LH2 Northstar, entirely different from the 275hp LD8 and 300hp L37 you are referring to. This is the RWD longitudinal Northstar, it shares essentially the Northstar name and displacement only. This is an extremely reliable engine. Also, this Northstar makes 320hp, so clearly you’ve never worked on one lmao.
the STS/SLS replaced the Seville starting in around 1989 until the name plate was retired in 05. yeah the Northstar series of engines were problematic at best. the Seville was always one of my favorite Cadillac Models along with the series 62 Convertible the Eldorado The Fleetwood and the Deville series then some of your shorter models that came after the Seville I.E. The Allante or the CT4 and 5 and the new Lyriq. I'm partial to the Deville series because my maternal grandmother drove a used 79 Coupe Deville when I was a youngster though that engine was choked for horsepower due to emissions standards 425 CID 7L only having 180hp to move a 4000 LB car

Why? It’s an LH2 RWD Northstar, not a FWD Northstar… vast difference between the two, most notably the RWD version is not plagued with the head gasket issue like the FWD’s are.
Dude I had one had all sorts of problems the bitch was a 2007 with only 69k it’s was a awd sts v6 First the timing chain slipped so I had to have the heads redone them the transmission lines that go to the radiator popped off and blew the tranny
From what I understand ,the Northstar engine is notorious for over heating/ headgaskets problems, the kidding thing about it general motors was aware of the problems with the NORTHSTAR ENGINE, the mileage of a 100,000 miles is right at the breaking point. You seem to be very knowledgeable about cars . Sell it.🤑

@@joelewis5402 it’s literally an entirely different block to begin with let alone everything else around it. Starter in the block on FWD models? Not anymore on RWD. Variable valve timing was added, a whole bunch of stuff. It’s not the same motor you think it is.
@@joelewis5402GM resigned the head bolts in 04, stopping the head gasket issues. From what I understand he's right, the LH2 was a much better platform.

Good or bad buy in your opinion?
Bad😅 should've been a thou car
Good buy
Horrible. you paid $1,000 too much.
Great purchase w/100k miles that cadi has a lot of life left
Great buy.

I got a 06 sts Northstar and got 160000 and runs pretty good still..I love it though. Great buy with that price..
I have one 2005 with 21k miles! Runs great
Nice score on the caddy. Fix the rust bubble. Cruze needs dye on the seats.
Thanks sir
Working on a 2005 STS myself. Don't listen to the hate on the Northstar the RWD LH2 is almost a totally different engine.

I didn't know that about the Northstar engine thanks for the info

I agree MY GUY
Scared of them lacs
Great upload and I’m only 1 minute in 🔥
Thank you
Bro got my dealer plate today yes sir
Let’s get it 💪🏾💪🏾🎉🎉
CHUCK WHAT Year did they start the better engine ?
2005? 2k? That’s a lot for a dealers auction but it’s very nice
I'd put a small bid on it, and hope nobody else wins. $1900 is kinda ehh... but I guess it's a sorta decent buy, despite the motor in it.

my 07 sts v8 has 205k miles still working very well. the 14.5mpg sucks tho
you will get more electrical issues before motor issues

People who are knowledgeable about cars know better than to buy a GM product. He was bidding against people with tax checks who don't know any better.

I always wondered do any of these dealer only auctions accept cash?
I honestly don't know if they do any longer
Yes CarMax does
Yes one auction down here in Florida does. OLAA
Them Northstar s n them 3.6 have a bad reputation. Now caddys have. 2.0 motor
