agree. And unfortunately his finisher is a problem too. When the action goes closer to the finish, he starts to perform not so great looking finisher for 3 times straight. When he raises up from the first one you already know where this is going to and you basically just wait for it to end
@@blackspider6956 pretty much. It worked for Mania because it felt like he gave everything he could. If you're pulling this out the bag for a match in Berlin with Owens and your finisher is constantly being kicked out of, what's the point. Wrestlers need to protect their finishers more because it ruins the flow of every other match as the fans never expect a solo finisher to end a match. That can't be your champ.
His IN RING needs work? Uh… he overshoots his cody cutters and does his finisher three times? No. Cody is easily a top 3 performer on the main roster. Literally none of his title defenses have been bad, even the Solo Sikoa one.
@cazzok I don't think Solo is bad. And I don't think long matches make good matches. I don't think Cody is bad, but he does way too many things that make zero sense to me in a match that makes the opponent look stupid. Essentially, that one Samoa Joe spot where he walks away could be applied so many times in a Cody match with how slow he is not a wrestler that springboard as much as he does. Again, not the worst, but I prefer my wrestling to make a bit more sense, for as much as I do apply my suspension of disbelief.
The two major problems are the lack of opponents on SmackDown and predictability. Besides Randy Orton, Solo Sikoa, Kevin Owens, and Roman Reigns the only other wrestlers that could be potential challengers are Santos Escobar, LA Knight, Andrade, and Carmelo Hayes who are all in the midcard with everyone else being jobbers and/or tag teams. Also we know Cody Rhodes isn't going to lose the Undisputed WWE Championship until next year so it doesn't matter who he faces knowing they're not going to take the title from him, and in my opinion that makes the match worse because it never feels like they have a chance at winning. Gunther is in the same spot on Raw but when I was watching him versus Randy Orton I thought maybe WWE will swerve us and have Randy Orton win. I thought the same about Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens in the beginning of their match but that went away when Kevin Owens decided not to powerbomb Cody Rhodes on the apron.
Cody Rhodes is boring as hell, he is a terrible champion. I’m so glad that viewers are finally seeing what I’ve always thought about him since he became champion.
