    Thanks for the nice idea.
Just thinking a little bit. You might be able to make some type of wall bracket or base to hold your rod caddy for rod storage in your garage. Just leave your rods in the caddy and install in a wall bracket or base unit you build until you need it the next time. You could make several of these for different types of fishing and then be able to just pick the rod caddy you need with all your favorite rods ready to go.

Could always glue a little felt inside holes after sanding edges for smoothness on rods. Also curve the rod cutouts so they wont slip out of hooks. 😉

Only thing I would suggest would to be to add a third plate on the bottom as a stopper plate. This way the holder does not allow the poles to slide down if the holder is pitched upward or you could stack it upright and use it as a upright holder as well.

Great project!! I would caution against the pine board construction as the parts of the caddy that have narrow areas of horizontal grain can snap off pretty easily if accidentally bumped against something. I'd go with either ply wood or one of those plastic cutting board construction options. Thanks for sharing!

I built a rod caddy a 8 years ago when my wife and I was fishing off Armstrong bridge in Tennessee. Made it to hold 6 spinning reels. Plus lantern fule out of 1/2" wood it was bout 3' long. It was heavy so I added a strap to it. like yous better thank the lord I don't have to have one now. I did build a vertical rod rack for my deck boat that works great..
