yea my dog is usually the most friendly dog ever but she's still gotten into a couple litle spats (never drawn blood) but she doesnt always read other dogs body language the best.. she wants to befriend every dog she meets and sometimes gets too much in their face even when the oher dog is raising its lips and clearly telling her to back off. she never starts the agressive behavior but i still do put some of the blame on my own dog for not being savvy enough to back off when other dogs cleary express their boundaries. usually she gets in the other dgs face too much, the other dog snaps ather and then they both start going at is tussing ... we are lucky its always been with mostly friendly dogs that also just are expressing their boundaries and nether of them have ever bit down or drawn blood.. just posturing and teeth-snapping at eachother in a quick wrestle and they listen when we call them off and break the up easily without issue. i dont really let her approach strangers dogs as much but this has happened just with friends dogs occasionally.

The sure fire way to break up a dog fight safely is to get behind one of the dogs, preferably the aggressor, and grab the back of their legs and pull them up and away, like holding a wheel barrow. This will completely disable to dog. I've had to use this technique a couple of times and I can tell you it works. It's a bit scary but you have to be brave and trust that it will work, because it does.

I did that once, many years ago. Stupidly tried to break up a fight between my dog and another dog by reaching around the front of my dog to grab her. They were really going at it, and I got bit, although I didn't even notice it at the time due to the adrenaline rush. I only realized I had been bit after the fight had been broken up and I saw blood running down my arm and dripping off my fingers. The fight was so frenzied that I don't even know which dog bit me. I had to get stitches and have my arm in a sling for several weeks. Lesson learned, I'll never do that again. I do have to say though, that when something like that happens, it does happen in a split second. You don't take the time to think "Well, hmmm, I should probably handle this THIS way ... or maybe I should do THAT instead ... hmmm"; you just react. For someone to claim that "he shouldn't have accidentally gotten his hand in the way when my dog was attacking his" is pretty disingenuous. Very sorry for Gator having to be put down; I really wish he'd had had better socialization and training.

WAY TOO MUCH repetitiveness on this show. They cover the case when they walk in, then Harvey covers it when they cut to him, then the judge covers it when they cut to her. This goes on throughout the show.

Dogs must be socialized and trained never never let your dogs be off the leash. I have a very friendly dog but I do not let people pet her and I don't ask people if their dogs are friendly I own a pittbull and she loves everyone but because of their bad undeserved. Reputation reputation I don't take any chances gator was an untrained dog. Why are some people so irresponsible irresponsible with their dogs

  • @FilmerOfBobcats

Both owners were dumb to let two dogs who don't know each other come nose to nose, especially if the biggest one is "excited". Fights at dog shows are rare, despite the fact that you have hundreds of intact male dogs and female dogs, some of which are in heat. The reason is that we know our big male dogs don't like each other and we give each other plenty of space. Pet owners often make the mistake. The worst dogfights I've ever seen have been in Petsmart in Houston - pet owners who don't practice safe handling, multiple combatants. I watched a fight between two Chows and one Rottweiler roll up one aisle and down another.

I think the reason he got pain and suffering was because the dog owner was so apathetic towards the way they let the dog hurt not one but 3 people, and hitting him in the wallet was the only punishment she could give him. The guy really didn't deserve the extra, but the other guy needed the smack in the wallet more.

While I do understand the logic behind the verdict, I am still a bit surprised by it. I thought the ruling would be to sue the golf course because they were negligent in providing adequate distance between itself and surrounding community (somewhere city zoning might’ve mucked up). I also thought of construction trucks that have signs on them that says drivers assume own risk.
