  • A SELECTION OF LOCAL AND VISITING COACHES AT WESTON-SUPER-MARE IN THE 1970s. MOST OF THE PHOTOS WERE TAKEN AT LOCKING ROAD COACH PARK. THE PHOTOS WERE TAKEN IN 1974, 1977 AND 1979. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PHOTO OF THE WEMS COACH WAS TAKEN AT WEMS BURNHAM-ON-SEA GARAGE. WEMS GARAGE AT WESTON-SUPER-MARE WAS FACING THE MARINE LAKE. THEY ALSO HAD A GARAGE AT CLEVEDON.

    It was great to see the National, I used to drive OOX824R, 828R, and 829R.
    They were with AA Buses in Ayrshire then.

    Wonder how many ended up in the hands of the new age travellers ..... down an old green lane with wood smoke coming from a stove pipe through the roof.

      @@onthebuses8644 After the destruction of the "Beanfield" and similar incidents, I believe some of the travellers took their coaches and escaped to Spain.
      I remember the very last stonehenge festival to actually happen. We had two of the buses on our premises for some days before they moved up to the festival site. The "Bluelake" bus .... a single decker, and a double deck Leyland owned by Chris and Caroline. I also remember "Scouse" ...the later originator of the "Wango Reilly travelling stage" arriving at our place to drive the single decker up to Stonehenge. Great young people. The current young won't say boo to goose !
