I just found this game on xbox two weeks ago. When i looked up this game on youtube i found your channel and have become obsessed! Love the lessons in U.S and war history, also thankyou for your service as a firefighter! Tough job to have
I play bannerlord at least an hour or two every shift so it's not that bad of a job LOL. All jokes aside I greatly appreciate the kind words and it's an honor to serve the community both in bannerlord and as a firefighter!
Mighty high praise friend and it sets an extremely high bar for future episodes but I'll keep being me and hopefully you keep being entertained and entranced. Cheers!
Thanks mate yep I think we're inexorably drawn towards this type of game because it puts us into the historical errors that we love. Well minus the dysentery and drudgery LOL
"Artificial Imbicility" you've got some pretty fantastic one liners man👍🏼😂 Amazing video, that was an incredible flurry of tactics. Always a pleasure watching you do your thing, army vet here so I can dig the ferocity with which you fight every battle. Seriously improved the way I crush the enemy in bannerlord, appreciate all the tips and tricks. Looking forward to seeing more and more from your channel brother, kill!
every episode I hear about Castor the Incompetent, the more I wanna see you exile him and his entire bloodline from your kingdoms protection and trash his army one last time! Tell him he’s on a secret covert mission if you have to lmfao!
Good content as always, it's insightful since you're fighting 2 different factions at the same time. starting to face large armies on my run but more on Keep/Castles sieges. I've yet to try fighting them in the field so watching how you deal the enemy army is worth to watch and learn some tactics from. P.S.: that mounted jump javelin throw was epic
Thanks for the kind words! While a lot of the videos on the channel definitely qualify more as entertainment than tutorial I think a lot of episodes still have value for the advanced player like yourself starting to crush it...
In the hands of an expert, a longbow has greater range and much greater rate of fire than a crossbow. The big advantage of the crossbow in war was that you could put them in the hands of 100 scrawny conscripts to good effect, whereas the longbow requires tremendous strength and conditioning, and years of practice. I saw a head-to-head target shooting competition once, and the bowman sank shot after shot after shot into the target before the crossbowman finished cranking up his second bolt. There’s an absurd fantasy trope of dainty characters using bows, when in reality it takes a ton of upper body power to shoot a powerful war bow with enough force to matter. That’s why I love fian champions. Those are the guys-burly and trained since childhood-who unlock the full devastating power of the longbow. And if you somehow manage to get up into their faces, you’d better believe they can chop you in half.
Love this enrichment, both for me and the fellas visiting the channel. I've done some studies on bows, but most of my knowledge relates to the tactics used, not the physics and understandings of the bow itself. Thanks for this!
I really enjoyed that battle, great use of the available terrain. I don't think there was any way you could have avoided the heavy losses against such a large force but definitely not a pyrrhic victory by any means. Adaptation is the key to success and you do that masterfully.
No better feeling then when you are in huge battles like this wondering how close or far you are from victory and then you start realizing it’s nothing but low level recruits and such spawning for the enemy. Hold fire. All charge. Green screen massacre.
Completely random fun fact that I found today: the battanian highborn warrior, the tier 3 version of the fian champion, have a tier 6 two handed sword as their secondary
From what I understand bows generally had much longer range than a crossbow but a crossbow of high enough poundage was able to reach out at at least compete range wise against the lighter poundage war bows
I remember reading xbow had greater PIERCING strength, ie to kill armored knights, etc. but less range. Not sure if that's completely absurd or what...
Both a long bow with bodkin tipped arrows and a crossbow of sufficient poundage with a bodkin tipped bolt could kill a knight in armor the difference was cost and training. It takes a lifetime to train archer but to train crossbowman it takes a week so crossbows became favored over bows because the cost of the actual dude operating it was cheaper. It’s the same reason that firearms eventually over took crossbows since they took even less time basically like an afternoon. So really the entire debate of crossbow or archer boils down historically to cost ease of use and man power

@Tacitcal Enlightment: Don't know if you remember my comment, but I asked you about 8 or so videos ago if you were open to taking sieges that players needed help with and would like your perspective on. I've failed to get a siege that I think would be worthy of your brains, but I've got something else instead. I'm playing as the faction leader for the Southern Empire, and am currently at war with the Khuzait. I've gotten myself into a pickle. I have 351 troops (Most of which are elite give or take 10 or so) vs 1100 or so Khuzait troops. I've played out the battle several times, and always get the enemy down to the point that they only have tier 1 recruits running at me. The issue is, I only have a handful of troops left at this point every time, and there's usually 200-400 recruits sprinting at me and it's game over. I think this is a battle I can figure out eventually, but I'd love for you to give a wack. Let me know if you're interested, and we can figure out a way to send the save file over!
Yep I'm totally interested! What we need is some way for you to share your saved file and I will make a run at it. If I can't get through it myself then you know it's probably pretty hard to pull off but if I get very close maybe I'll narrate it load it up and we'll see if other people have suggestions. I have no idea though how to transfer a file but let me know if you figure something out and we can go from there.
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions I think I figured it out, so under documents is where a folder called, "Mount and blade bannerlord" should be, and in there should be a folder called, "Game saves." That's where you'll upload the save file, let me know how you want me to send it to you! I can send it via email.
@@Sam23145fly lets try an email but I think it will be too big in size... My email has a limit of 25 MB - do you know how large the file is? Try it is it's smaller: fletchonthemove@hotmail.com

I hope so too mate certainly I've learned from other people and with enough practice I have no doubt you can get to a very high skill level if you want to...
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions btw. take to your list a mod called realistic horse hp hardcore version (all horses have 120hp) if you have to showcase some tactics but with mods that i mentioned earlier (RBM, realistic combat adjustment, best combat mod etc), that way the proportion of power does not go to much into cav and remains like in vanilla - archers matter. I though about it cuz you recommended high level retinues from RBM guys which makes most of the times unbeatable cav army using at the same time mods influenting the charge damage and fall chance
2:38 in a situation like this, shouldnt you have ran towards the vlandian forces? In order to divide and conquer. Feel like it would be way easier. Almost to easy
Some troops has bound and hickory crossbow, and no troop has noble long bow. So not a top tier comparison. You can check with companions / family and see who starts shooting first.
I did and though it's a ways off, I was certainly be engaging in a Napoleonic campaign using Bannerlord, completely with random historical stuff, tactics, combat and some bad French.
