    Hello. I have 100% wool kilt socks for sitting around the tent and sleeping in. They are knee high to keep your entire lower leg warm and your feet and toes. They are specifically designed for warmth with a kilt on. The bonus is, they aren't expensive.
    I am enjoying your videos.

      @@RamblingOn there is a theory that while hiking, even in the cold, is to wear just a thin pair of socks and then put on thicker socks when arrived at base. That way, the thin socks haven't soaked up any moisture which is what gets cold when you stop. Kinda makes sense when you think about it 🙂

    Wow, where do I begin?
    Without a doubt your best video I've watched so far.
    I watched Martin's video first and was really pleased that the two of you were out together. Poor Martin had a few mishaps so it was a bit of a challenge for him. But it was obvious that his trip was made all the better for you being there, not only for the milk, lol.
    As for your gear. I really like the wee table, I've been thinking about getting something like it for a while. You've now convinced me on it.
    That wind shield and pot set up was really good, I'll be looking at that too.
    A tip I would suggest is instead of the Nalgene bottle for hot water at night, get one of those flexible ones as it would be more comfortable to have in the sleeping bag. I use one at my feet in the hammock and it is great.
    The chat sequence was really good, I think Martin's video could have done with a bit of that too. Did you both have a mic, or was yours picking up both voices? The video was really class in that bit too, well lit and framed.
    Looking forward to the next one.

    • @RamblingOn
      @RamblingOn  Месяц назад +1

      Ah yeah Martin didn't have the best of luck but we managed to have a good laugh regardless. The little table is one of my favourite bits of gear, if not my favourite. I love it 🙂 I thought about those little hot water bottles, I even have one in my house but it's more weight to carry and my pack is already 20kg or more with all my camera gear. I'd imagine it would be much better than the nalgene so maybe for the hammock camps or the shorter hikes I'll take the hot water bottle.
      For the chat I had a mic on my camera and a lav mic on my jacket but I did a lot of work in the edit to even out the audio so it's mainly the on camera mic that you can hear.
      Thanks a mill for mentioning the camera angles and all that, I really appreciate it. Take her handy 🍀

      I can't promise anything 😄 both are good tents. The duomid is a lot more expensive and requires seam sealing. Mine is 'modified', the inner is from a 3f ul lanshan 1. Duomids inner was nearly 200 quid.
      The xmid has loads of space inside, two big vestibules and it's pretty reasonably priced. Pretty sure you can buy them in Europe now on backpackinglight.dk which helps to avoid customs if you're in Europe.

    It started off as such nice (somewhat tame) weather...until the morning. The line about the sun has risen, but I don't know where it is was awfully funny! As an aside, and not to alarm you too much, you are not recommended to use the water you boiled your meal in for drinking. I cannot back this up with any science, just what we were always taught. It may be a holdover from when we were still eating from the tin's, so as not to have tea with boiled aluminum water.

    • @RamblingOn
      @RamblingOn  Месяц назад

      I was kind of thinking that, I started doing it a while back when water was limited and I wasn't close to a water source. I suppose it's a bad habit now. You'd wonder how much of an impact it would have really, it's hard to know what to be doing half the time 😂

    Great vid as always Jason what mountain range are you in? Looks like you’re round the corner from Coumshingaun? Or is it the Galtees? I don’t understand how you can have two fire pits so close together😠 one is bad enough. If I ever see two or more very close, and if I have the time, I try to consolidate the stones into one and do my best to erase the other ones. My theory is that maybe if you only have one firepit and then maybe that’s the only one used by people who are determined to have a fire. Glad to see you up and about, hope the back isn’t too bad, I feel your pain. Anyhow keep up the good work, looking forward to the next vid, mind yourself. Dan

      This was down in the Comeraghs. That lake is too easily accessible for anyone with a 4x4, that was the main issue. We saw tracks leading up to it so I reckon people use it a lot. The back is doing alright, I'm working on it the whole time. Hopefully you're not too bad with yours 🤞Lowbackability or ATG on instagram/youtube are helping me a lot 👍

    Hi Jason, nice vid. You may have said already, or I may not be using my brain, but how do you disinfect the water you get from the lake? Do you just boil it? Also, can’t wait for your next horror movie reaction….priceless! 😅 Cheers from New Hampshire, US.

    • @RamblingOn
      @RamblingOn  Месяц назад

      Yeah I just boil it. If I was on the move I'd use a water filter like a sawyer squeeze but at camp I boil all my water and that kills the bacteria. 😄 I'm delighted you enjoyed that one, I don't have any plans to make another one, not yet anyway.

    As a Canadian who has cold feet and who has lived in northern Alberta, I can tell you that your boots might be too tight. Buy a good pair of light winter boots at least half a size too large and wear the best quality of thick, wool socks you can afford. You don't want to squeeze into your boots... Your feet will freeze!

      @RamblingOn I've been looking at them. Bit out of my price range right now, plus the postage to spain. I'm thinking of just buying some dyneema roll and trying to make my own tent. How hard can it be? 🙂 I also noticed those bags for life from the supermarkets are extremely waterproof and at 30p each wondering if 50 of them stitched together would do. It'd be a great video to make! 'i wildcamped in a tent made from bags for life' 🤣

    As I know you're taking your channel seriously and want your videos to look as good as possible, I want to point out that the frame rate at which you recorded and the frame rate of your timeline are mismatched. That's why there's a stutter or 'skip' in the video every second. I'm only a minute in so not sure if all the vid is like this but said I'd let you know anyway. Not hugely important but it's something I spot and said I'd mention it. Great vid /channel.

      I love that style of tent, and it's been tested by others in very harsh conditions. The lack of a floor is a benefit. It means I've loads of usable space for all my wet gear and for cooking. The tent weighs less than 900g, which is nice.
