I have a full stack at home. I have a top front loaded 4x12 Soldano cab with Eminence Legend v1216. I also have a straight Peavey 5150 cab with 16 ohm Celestion v30s. I love the combo. I haven't heard the best things about the Legend 1258 and I wonder how my v1216s compare?
Best speakers I ever had so far. Don't regret I bought a cheap custom cab with 4x12 V12. Celestion G12T75 sucked on my Marshall AVT50, felt so muddy low/mid range
I have a Legend V12 in my Peavey Bravo and a Swamp Thang in a homemade 112 closed back cab. Probably my favorite combo yet. V12 is super tight with great mids and the Swamp Thang fills out the bass perfectly.
@@oldguyjammin9732 oh yeah! I think it might be the most versatile speaker on the market - awesome cleans, unholy with gain, and is great by itself or combined with anything.
I was diggin the Legend GB128's til I heard THIS Legend. I cross from Doom/stoner to Metal and this Legend sounds like it'll cover both. At the moment, I'm using Weber Gray Wolf speakers X 2. But they're twice the price!
I use Weber silver wolf and I love them! I used to have a pair of these eminence and I liked them a lot but I think Weber makes better sounding speakers than celestion and eminence overall.
I use a vypyr pro 100 in the studio but I'm trying to figure out which speaker to replace the stock with. Greenback or cv-75...open back combo modular amp. We have similar playing styles, looking for clarity and articulate when I'm playing harmonies or just hitting a lot of individual notes. The dv77 isn't my thing sounds too boxy to me. Any feedback? It's a 1x12 speaker. If there's a better option let me know
The unfounded mystique of the v30 is laughable. Yeah the Mesa 4x12 adds some body to the tone because of the cab's build quality, but even that racket from the v30s is nigh unbearable. I struggled for years w GB and then the v30. It wasn't until the band we toured with showed up w a brand new Decatone rig that my tone journey was ended! Yes the head was fantabulous, but it was the 4x12 w v12s that blew my socks off! Within 6 months all my GBs n V30s were gone n V12s were in. Haven't looked back in 25 years now! The real monster from Emi is the 1518, that is just GLORIOUS! If you have room for a 4x12, get a 2x15 baffle and load up a pair of 1518s... just GLORIOUS! The Tonker is the closest 12" in tone to the 1518 despite the redcoat label. Derek
I hate vintage 30’s !!! Ugh . They sound like frying bacon through an AM radio station. Eminence is much refined detailed and articulate, they seem to take out the ear grating frequencies. I have a gb128 and love it in my combo amp , I’d like to get a 2x12 cab and have a v legend with a gb128.
Armando Moreno you must be talking about the Chinese V30 and they do sound like crap. But the Mesa 🇬🇧 V30 and the other 🇬🇧 V30 sound amazing and very balanced.
@@bigchocolate8547 nah I’m talking all of them , but yes Chinese sound is more sizzly. But celestion in general have a high end high mid inherited sound that has been over grating to my ears. Have played celestions for over 25yrs, and I’m sick of them now 😂😂.
@@axegrinder13 ive just swapped these speakers for dv77's.. However i dont hve marshall cab, im using 2x12 laney irt cab. For me, they were too bassy, mid range was hollow. The highs got some nice agressiveness tho.

The Legend is silky smooth, but it’s like these two were made for each other.
Agreed!! Highly contemplating on getting one…

V30 for sure. But I like the Mesa V30 better.
GODDAMN, the Legend is FIRE!!!
nice comparison. old marshall vintage is my favorite variant of the v30. first came out with those 80s silver jubilee cabs
Thanks, totally agree!
I’ve got a mix of both these speakers in my Soldano cab, they work really well together as you can hear in this video
How are the Old Marshall vintage 30’s compared to the mesa voiced Vintage 30’s?

The V12 reminds me a lot of the H&K Rockdriver 60.

Awesome. I’ve been considering the gray wolf. Do you like them? What wattage did you get?
Yea I wanna mix the legend v12 with the gb128 . I think both would slay together
