I took my wife to see a Celtics - 76 game. She does not follow basketball. After 20 minutes, she is looking at me, wide eyed, saying, who is that guy. Love his playing. Unbelievable skills.
“I don’t wanna be Jordan, I don’t wanna be Magic, I don’t wanna be Bird or Isiah. I don’t wanna be any of those guys. When my career’s over, I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.” -the answer "i truly wanted to be like mike" - allen iverson
A.I. is the greatest ball-handler of all time. Truly nobody compares when it comes to play style and energy. Congrats on the Hall of Fame induction, we all knew it was coming!
Adub Htown at least 37 people disagree with you. And I think YOU just made that up. Skip was called for carrys non-stop because he couldn't leave the and1 mixtape style on the amateur courts where it belongs. White Chocolate was def one of the better passers of all time. The two you named were the flashiest ball handlers, but definitely not better than A.I. They couldn't use their skills to make it actually count like he did.
Colbert is 5"10'....Goes to show how small The Answer was, and how utterly amazing he was. To score and play defense the way he did, at that size. We will never see it again.
If the award for the most tenacious player ever exists, I would give it to A.I. I remember watching him on my t.v screen taking beatings from the bigger players but still kept going the extra mile, ran in circles to steal the ball, dove for the ball when it's about to go out of bounds, he is a hustler. For the youngsters who don't understand why he has a lot of respect, it's because he built the roads for future basketball, he changed the game for PGs and SGs.
Like all people who excel at any endeavor Iverson worked hard at his craft, but he was also by far the most naturally talented athlete ever. To have accomplished what he did from high school to college to the professional ranks in such a short time is amazing.
Allen Iverson is the most respected NBA player on social media. I see people talk shit about Jordan, Lebron, and Kobe. Iverson always gets the "hes a real nigga" comment.
A.I was amazing. He played unreal ball, hitting 3s over people that are 6-8 inches taller than him. Breaking ankles and fading away, and being extremely short compared to his defender.
As soft as he speaks and low key voice. It's far far different when he's on the basketball court One of the notorious, fearless savage player that ever embrace the floor. I'm honored to be one of that generation.
I agree dude...that comment was kinda out of line. You have to know who you're talking to here and you come out welcoming AI to the show with that kinda comment!? Not too bright.....
I think one of my favorite things about AI, apart from being an absolute savage on the court who didn't give a fuck about anything but winning, is that he's always kept it real. He never tried to be someone he wasn't. Even now, he's the same AI. Even still dresses the same. Truly a legend of the game, and one of the greatest pound-for-pound players we'll ever witness.
Allen Iverson was to the NBA (and arguably modern Major American sports) what the iPhone was to cell phones/portable tech. The only difference is he didn't purposefully set out to become the revolution, the next step forward, the future, The Answer--but the most significant similarity is that we recognized the revolution, the next step forward, the future, The Answer--and we all followed.
MJ has 9 all-defensive first team awards, 3 steals leader awards, and a defensive player of the year award. To be able to crossover and score over that caliber of a defender is definitely awesome.
I didn't agree with his off the court antics all the time, but he is my favorite player of all time and why I am still a Sixers fan to this day despite how hard that might be.
Antbeast23 I don't care about the music he listens to, clothes he wears or the tattoos. I'm talking about the several drug, unlicensed gun and assault charges he had during his NBA career.
Matthew Schell haha i'm just letting u know your favorite player changed the culture of the nba. The off the court stuff happened early In his career so I wouldn't get on him about it. Especially in hs he was falsely accused of being in a brawl with no evidence.
He is a legend. He has 1 of my favorite basketball commercials of all time. Only thing I can say is. There was this other Hall of Faner that had tattoos, and a crazy hair. No not corn rows, but wild none the less. And he was doing that before AI Dennis Rodman
I grew up on the Westside of Chicago during the reign of Jordan saw him play live at the UC and old Chicago stadium, as a kid. Wanted to be just like Mike. But I couldn't fly and wasn't 6'6. But when I first heard of Iverson when I was in HS and saw him play at Georgetown he was the first superstar from my era I could personally relate too so I said forget MJ cus' I could actually do some of the things Bubba Chuck did on the court. In my opinion AI and MJ both equally are the most influential players of all-time.
Thank you HOF Allen Iverson. You opened my eyes. You are YOU! There is nothing wrong with you. Thank you for leading the way and being an example of what can happen if you are passionate about what you do. You are passionate about BB and helping kids. Millions of kids around the world look up to you. They are from the projects and hope to be you one day. That is more than what I can do in 10 lives. So, I think you deserve my respect and humble gratitude. BTW-, You are fearless. We can all learn that!
IN MY BOOK: GOAT. No one played with more heart. No one left it all out on the court. No one was more electric and just exciting to watch shooting down the court and 80 mph, get knocked the hell down by Shaq and get up like nothing happened. AI - GOAT!
Always was a fan of his. He's absolutely right about taking the heat for current players. And clearly is not fake. He dressed like he's going to a bbq.
Happy Birthday to the Player of the Phillips for the Team of NBA, Allen Iverson Represent from Philadelphia, US. Known as the former member of the basketball team. One of the greatest professional Players in Sports Entertainment. He's been recognized to be a great player in the Sport Network Association.
It hurts me that obviously the crowd didn't give a shit. This is one of the top 4-5 basketball talents of the 20th century. And with all he overcame to achieve that. And by the way, of course he can partly blame himself for that, he never achieved his full potential. HE was goigng to be as big as Jordan.
Man look, I hear you... it's funny to me too, I mean it's strange... it's strange to me too, but we're talking about practice man, we're not even talking about the game... the actual game, when it matters... We're talking about practice
Legend. Carried a mediocre sixers team for many years. I'll never forget game 1 of the finals where he managed to beat the Lakers in LA.
let's be real the East was so weak that year anyone could of went to the finals
insane.
but he did it. i hate when people say oh anybody could've done it. well guess what they didnt do it, he did.
you bugged the fuck out. The Bucks were no joke that year.
The bucks was a good team
I took my wife to see a Celtics - 76 game. She does not follow basketball. After 20 minutes, she is looking at me, wide eyed, saying, who is that guy. Love his playing. Unbelievable skills.
@jwst lol youtube never fails
"Making God bleed" best description of the Allen Iverson/Michael Jordan crossover I've ever heard.
YES!
Whiplash in Iron Man 2: if you can make God bleed, then people would cease to believe in Him.
Michael Jordan: Are you sure about that?
The boy Iverson is the realist ever. The sweatsuit, the chains , those chrome Answer's on his feet. Legend .
he dresses like hes in the late 90s early 2000s though
^Fa sho.. chrome shoes are the Question.
frrr lol
Anonymous fuck with you bru fuck outta here with that comment
Anonymous looks like some inbred piece of trash voted for Trump 😂😂😂😂👍
“I don’t wanna be Jordan, I don’t wanna be Magic, I don’t wanna be Bird or Isiah. I don’t wanna be any of those guys. When my career’s over, I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.” -the answer
"i truly wanted to be like mike" - allen iverson
You messed up the quote.
😅😅😅 Brian Liu it's not what he said
He was inspired by Mj to play basketball but he wanted to be great in his own way in which he did
Pretty sure LeGoat James said that
the intro of 2pac, " I ain't mad at cha" instrumental was memorizing🎶
It was actually DeBarge.
sure debarge "a dream", but reminds me one of ma Fav gig from Pac
Fair enough.
memorizing? is this a meme?
MPCReacts Mezmorizing*
I'm a Spurs fan, but my first jersey was a white Philly Iverson one. Love it. Top 3 favorite player for me.
Mine was the black one
I still got my blue one :D
I bought my first and only Reebok sneakers (Questions) because of Iverson.
Haha same I'm a spurs fan too but the first jersey I bought was the white iverson version back in 2000! Still have it and wore it today :)
He still looks so young man... Damn...
black don't crack.
+Marc NY he's still young he's only Old for an athlete
Because he didn't start dressing like an old man. Stayed true to himself.
Still my favourite player since '96.
I am so glad this man gets his flowers 🌸
from philly... Iverson has given back to the community as much/MORE than any star. Media was brutal on him. Honored to watch him as a 76er.
He gave it his all and from his heart! He played basketball!
Allen Iverson is the best sixer to ever play I will never forget growing up and watching him Play a true legend in sports!!!
pound for pound the best player I have ever seen. God bless Allen Iverson
The fact he gave Stephen those shoes and didn't make a show of it in this segment says a lot about him.
Yeah it says he has one less pair of shoes
lol
They gave this dude a lot of shit for what players do every day now
You have no idea
fair enough, but it's about practice tho
This man's pinky is tougher than a majority of NBA players today.

You're absolutely correct
sorry but jason williams has the best handles hands down
Nevermind the people iverson himself said had better handles than him.
Camboy GW Zeke playa.... Kenny Anderson had the best but couldn't shoot
Colbert is 5"10'....Goes to show how small The Answer was, and how utterly amazing he was. To score and play defense the way he did, at that size.

Still don't know how he carried the 76ers to the finals and managed to win a game against the undefeated Lakers in 2001. Legend
Damn I bet Iverson gets bored of saying the same things in interviews he gets asked the same stuff in every interview
Right. How many times are people gonna ask him about one crossover from 1996
Easily one of the greatest of all time
A.I was amazing. He played unreal ball, hitting 3s over people that are 6-8 inches taller than him. Breaking ankles and fading away, and being extremely short compared to his defender.
Thank you, Stephen Colbert, for having my favorite basketball player of all time on your show. :)
As soft as he speaks and low key voice.
It's far far different when he's on the basketball court
One of the notorious, fearless savage player that ever embrace the floor.
I'm honored to be one of that generation.
I love how real AI is. There is is no PR. All heart.
The one and only. A true legend.
True legend.
Stephen did a great job getting AI3 to open up!
Agreed. Another talk show host would have interrupted him many times, and AI would have just spoken for a total of 2 minutes.
I don't think he came into the interview thinking it wasnt going to be a good conversation but it seemed like he enjoyed it at the end
That chain comment fell FFFFFlat!!!
yea the chain comment in the beginning made ai uncomfortable. HURR HURR GOT THE CHAINS ON KEEPING IT CLASSY HUH? - white guy in a suit. Not so subtle.
I agree dude...that comment was kinda out of line. You have to know who you're talking to here and you come out welcoming AI to the show with that kinda comment!? Not too bright.....
He truly was THE ANSWER!!! Best nickname ever in NBA
Air jordan iz da best his is the second
He is nervous ass fuck!
that's the way he talk bro
yeah dumbass
He was always very softspoken
Al and Kobe both admit that MJ was their idol. That speaks volumes! RIP Mamba...!
Finding a good barber is the bane of every black man
I think one of my favorite things about AI, apart from being an absolute savage on the court who didn't give a fuck about anything but winning, is that he's always kept it real. He never tried to be someone he wasn't. Even now, he's the same AI. Even still dresses the same.
Truly a legend of the game, and one of the greatest pound-for-pound players we'll ever witness.
LOL, instead of Allen Iverson I first read "Alien Invasion".
We better kill of the Mikes to prevent them from coming
get out of america
That would have been better than this guy's interview
Allen Iverson was to the NBA (and arguably modern Major American sports) what the iPhone was to cell phones/portable tech. The only difference is he didn't purposefully set out to become the revolution, the next step forward, the future, The Answer--but the most significant similarity is that we recognized the revolution, the next step forward, the future, The Answer--and we all followed.
What truly, truly amazes me is after all these 20 odd years, AI still has the clearest eyes I've ever seen
that 2Pac I ain't mad acha intro was fire
damn I was in middle school when he was playing and I every kid liked him
He retired ~2010
yea
He's a legend
While most athletes will make appearances on talk shows in nice dressed up suits, al still carries his own swagger around

TO YOU TOP WITH YOU SIR! TO THE TOP I SAY
The Answer will always be the real NBA gangsta.
he's the tupac of the nba
fouseytube is the tupac of youtube
W
Raul Castro who told u that dumb ass shit
nah, just poorly portrayed throughout his career
one of my all time favorite players, true to the city and his team
That 2pac playing when he was walking out was dope
This is why Stephen is the best.
Conan, Kimmell and Fallon would've just kept cracking stupid jokes instead of letting the man speak.
MJ has 9 all-defensive first team awards, 3 steals leader awards, and a defensive player of the year award. To be able to crossover and score over that caliber of a defender is definitely awesome.
I love him ..
Shout out to Colbert for having AI on the show *respect*
congratulations Allen you deserve it all , I ejoyed watching you play thank you
2:16 it's like there's a light in there,
that's the most vibrant chain I've ever seen. wow
I didn't agree with his off the court antics all the time, but he is my favorite player of all time and why I am still a Sixers fan to this day despite how hard that might be.
ayyy you got Ben Simmons now
im in the same boat , and its choppy waters , lol
u don't like how Allen Iverson Was being himself and changed the culture in the NBA. where it was alright to wear what u want?
Antbeast23 I don't care about the music he listens to, clothes he wears or the tattoos. I'm talking about the several drug, unlicensed gun and assault charges he had during his NBA career.

A Living Legend!!
This man is a legend probably one of the only athletes I'd freak out if I saw him in real life
Same
@@lucindajones701 Hes overhyped.
@@urekmazino2485lmao
He is a legend. He has 1 of my favorite basketball commercials of all time.
Only thing I can say is. There was this other Hall of Faner that had tattoos, and a crazy hair. No not corn rows, but wild none the less. And he was doing that before AI
Dennis Rodman
Iverson got style, look what hes wearing
The way Jon rolls those notes on the piano makes me do the "stank face".

Iverson carrying the 01 Sixers to the finals and Lebron carrying 07 Cavs to the finals were the 2 most impressive runs i've seen
The answer-Great scorer-warrior

Greatest point guard. The legend, the icon, the phenomena.
I like this guy, seems real serious and maybe a little awkward, but I like him
That Tupac intro is 🔥
Top 3 all time for me (90s kid)
On an AI interview binge and noticing everyone asks him the same questions, but he always gives them a full answer, legend
Always was a fan of his. He's absolutely right about taking the heat for current players. And clearly is not fake. He dressed like he's going to a bbq.
"I think we have a clip of you actually making God bleed here...."
they should give this man a reality show
One of my favorite players ever
