love how you're throwing shade at K8MRD LOL
I love Mike but can't resist our back and forth over APRS 🤣 It's all in good fun
My portable digipeaters are a little bigger. I use a radio like the TH-V71 or similar for the longer range is needed. Thank you for sharing yours.
The TH-V71 is a great choice for a digi :-)
Much Grass, sir. Very nice 'tie up the loose ends' of the last video. Now to toss it all together for a local EmComm deployment. I appreciate the effort you put forth for these videos.

Thanks Kevin!
Thanks!
You bet! Thanks for the super chat!
Thanks for another great video. When we’re out and no digipeater or igate around, we use our Kenwood D72, Mobilinkd TNC4 (or 3) and our iPhone (that’s got a data connection). This takes all signals from our group and gates them.
Whatever it takes to get you into the system!
@km4ack while you are on the topic of APRS, could you do a quick video on settings when using a set up like this? Such as wide 1-1 and such. Love the videos and your quick to the point style!

Lol that thumbnail!!
I thought that might grab your attention 😀
Fantastic kit Jason. I will save it for later to help me build my own. Did you buy or build that cable adaptor for the power bank to 12v barrel connector?
Do you have a video on building a permanent digipeter at your qth? There are none near me.
I've done several digipeater videos over the years. They are all on my APRS playlist ruclips.net/p/PL1QTYT4Qo9cav3oWl3BBZ8kopezkfNKYm
Love the thumbnail 😂
Once the RaspberryPi powers on, how can I get Direwolf to wait for DigiRig and GPS input before loading?
Jason mentioned he’d baked this cool functionality into his Pi build, but I wasn’t sure how it’s done.
It was a one off script that I wrote to make it all happen.
Just a thought... is the gps a vital part of a fill in digipeater... if not markqvist's MicroDigi is a cool project... tested a while ago. Seems to work fine.
Would be much less powerhungry
You could avoid the GPS assuming you update the lat/long in the config file. I just prefer having the GPS so it will update the location automatically.
The Battery is still available at Walmart
Good Morning Jason, I have gathered all of the parts/pieces to do this build BUT, I have a serious question for you: Have you tried to emulate this build utilizing the Orange Pi 2W board with their expansion board? I have everything to copy the build except I have the Orange Pi version of the boards rather than the Raspberry boards...is there any reason that the Orange Pi will not work in the place of the RP? I am going to go forth with the build and let you know what I find out unless you have firsthand experience that suggests otherwise. I look forward to your response and experience Bro...Thanks!! 73 Danny NF4J
I do not have any experience with the Orange Pi but in theory, it should work.
Jason, How can I find out is there is a APRS node in my area? Not sure that is what they are called.
Take a look at your area on aprs.fi It's not always easy to spot them but if you hover over objects, it will tell you the digi path it took to get into the system.
Hi Jason. With your excellent videos, I was able to setup a Linux laptop with all the digital modes that were in that series. I was then looking for a way to set up a digipeater on the same laptop using the Digirig. I could only find your tutorials for this using Raspberry Pi. Do you have something for setting up an APRS digipeater on a Linux system? Thanks! Steve / K3SLH
The setup should be the same on either the Pi or an x86 box. You can digipeat with just direwolf or if you need a GUI interface, you will want both direwolf and YAAC installed.
Another Great video Jason, Thank you!!! 73 de NF4J
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching
@@KM4ACK< I ordered everything that I needed to complete my portable digipeater kit Jason, Im going to use the FT4X for the time being but it should work really well...Thanks for all of the Great tutorials!!
Nice video, have you done any testing on your J-pole ?
A bit but more in a “does it work” kinda way. Nothing scientific.
What is the adapter you are using to use bnc connector with the ft-65? Charlie KM4ZZ

OK, I have to ask, a year later, how does this age against a BTech UV-PRO and a Ulefone providing a pretty weatherproof local digipeater? really, just curious.
@@joe10is it would likely come down to personal preference
Another great video Jason. Yeah, it’s fun to poke at K8MRD about APRS, but as you point out it’s all in good fun. Here’s a recent exchange - ruclips.net/user/shortsEikrv802bAc?si=WMx18l9CYm7WcFVy 😂
Link to the video isn't working for me :-(
Found it on your shorts page. 🤣🤣
