I am so so sorry that you were bullied and words do have the power to hurt. On the other hand, I really like this movie as it portrays an Eating Disorder in a realistic way.
i feel.verry sorry for morgan her parents.going true a nasty divorce. perhaps the mother means it well but not for morgan. it was so bad what the mother did. the friends where bad friends but she let her friend emmy alone that was also not verry nice.good movie these movies are always good.
As suggested in another comment, comfort eating could certainly lead to gaining weight. Additionally the emotional stress surrounding an unstable home environment, would be inducing a sympathtic dominant (fight/flight/freeze/faun) state, with stress hormones excreted; which typically results in the body holding on to stored energy as fat; this being the Intelligently Designed body's reponse towards ensuring future survival. However, efforts to gain control could also lead to developing other types of eating disorders such as anorexia or bulemia. Depriving the body of nutrients is by far a greater threat to one's health and long-term survival; compared to merely holding on to some excess weight. Often these depriving eating disorders are accompanied by engaging in vigorous physical exercise.
