I always felt particulary King's Squad week, that not enough emphasis is placed on the commando flashes. They should also be presented, as the Green beret AND flashes are both equally important signifying a Royal Marines Commando imho.
@@1442GlennLane - oh dear, I see you struggle with reading so I'll write this slowly ... given that the whole of The King's Squad parade is done in the 2 uniforms I mentioned, at what stage do you think the Flashes should get their moment in the spotlight?
@@JammyDodger45 The first stage of passout day is the stage ceremony in working dress half lovats or full lovat No. 2 uniform whereby the Green beret is presented. At the same time, the commando flashes should imo be handed/presented to them. The Blues No.1 dress uniform is worn on the parade ground for the conclusion of the Kings Squad passout. In conjunction with the video, I made a perfectly clear and valid point regarding the commando flashes presentation.
@@1442GlennLane - thank you for confirming you're not, and never have been a Royal Marines Commando. I was, for 25yrs, do you want me to school you in why you are incorrect in your assertion or shall I just move straight on to 'what the fuck has it got to do with you when we present the Flashes?'
How come they are wearing normal combats at the beginning and not their NO2 dress anyone? Also how long as drill skills be part of the passing out parade 🤷♂️🤷♂️
And so far there are 0 female RMCs. And that's not going to change any time soon since there are currently none in training. Still, at least the politicians are happy that it's a level playing field for 'all' Genders.
Sorry your point was what exactly? The USA is 6 times the population of the UK so has a far bigger pool of people, the military budget is 13 times bigger and the USA prefers a socialised military to socialised health care which kills thousands every year. At least compare like for like. And then you dare to compare the 13 week USMC training to the 32 week RM training and suggest they produce the same quality Marine? You are admiring quantity over quality.
They don’t do that much tbh…but there’s an old saying that goes “ Discipline is the aim…Drill is the means”….there’s a reason why the ‘nods’ see more of their DL in the first two weeks than any of their other Training Team and that’s to begin the process of instilling discipline and attention to detail into them. It’s a process and those that know…know!😉
@@pennywise146 I did it in the RMR and thought it a waste of time for us and the regs. Especially the regs being turned into a drill team for the pass-out parade. With all the cuts it does seem a waste of young men's time and money? But hey ho some people like doing it
@@seanwalker6460 With all due respect …RMR training isn’t the same as full on recruit training….I speak from experience of being both a ‘nod’ AND being on the Training Team taking recruits through training.
@@pennywise146 Agreed however I still stand by my earlier statement. It is a waste of time turning out RMs that can perform drills better than any other regiment in the armed forces including the guards! When do they ever use it again.
WE BRITS ARE VERY PROUD OF OUR YOUNG COMMANDOS........YOU ARE A CREDIT TO THIS COUNTRY........
Well done lads!
Passed out in 1980. 147 Troop. Felt 6 feet tall....and at 5 ' 5 that was a good feeling!
No better passing out parade than a Kings Squad pass out….whether it’s an indoor routine or outdoor routine. BZ to the DL of this troop…👍🏻

Outside of Covid imposed restriction you wear Lovats and Blues during The Kings Squad pass out parade so there's not really the opportunity!
@@JammyDodger45 Your post makes no sense whatsoever. Clearly, you never served in the Corps.

Did that at an Army Barracks in Exeter for A Dr Banardos Charity as Army said they could not do it on grass

There is a shortage of skilled seamstresses and tailors at Lympstone. Unfortunately this Kingsquad had to wear split rig.
Ah - makes sense. First time I've ever seen the presentation with the lads in the day-to-day rig . . ! @@waterhogger
Are women allowed to be in the Royal Marines?
They are nowadays…if they attain the incredibly high standard.

Meanwhile the US Marine Corps graduates approximately 1,600 Marines.....PER MONTH.
The USMC is enormous in comparison, there are only approx 6000 Royal Marines Commandos.
Quality over quantity 👍
The names are the same but not the functions they perform.

A Bootneck said he was asked in US what RM stood for.."Real Marines"
Never understood why the RM make commando recruits do so much drill. Doesn't make sence
