@yardboy3955 I like your math better! 😂 I’m sure you saw the sticker: base price $31.5, after delivery fees, just over $33k+tax, title, license and other fees will be at $35k or a bit more.
I don’t know, to be honest. One one hand, I think Toyota is not stupid to risk their reputation and release a car/truck that will ruin their reputation. On the other hand, knowing that turbos require more maintenance and are likely not as reliable as n/a counterparts makes me nervous for the future of Toyota reliability. But other car makers are deep into making turbo engines for their cars. The future will show if it was a good call or not.
@@MaximumDIYGarage I think it’s the future to go to smaller turbo engines. Not they I favor it but I don’t think we can change it. On the other hand I owned an Ecoboost F-150 and never had any issues. Sounded bad but the torque made up for it.
@@EnthusiastCarHangar yes, the torque numbers do not lie. These 4-cylinder turbos generate as much torque and more than old n/a V8 engines in some cases. Just change oil every 3-5k miles and maintain it well, it should last a long time. The problem is, most people do not take care of their cars and that will mean “less reliability”. I wouldn’t mind owning a turbo car in the future (Bronco, F150, GX550, Tacoma, Land Cruiser, GR Corolla, whatever).
I love this truck! The Xtra cab is fantastic. The steel wheels are a plus.
Glad you like it! Yes, 14” screen on the dash and 18” wheels on a truck is not for everyone. Gotta love the basic trucks!
It’s crazy how much these are compared to the 3rd gens. My 2023 SR Double Cab 4x4 V6 was 33k!
@@austinriggs5206 wow, you’ve got a foot deal on yours! And a V6 to boot!
The turbo is not an issue here. Toyota designed the turbo to be bypassed at light throttle. If you drive easy, the engine is normally-aspirated.
That’s news to me. Are you sure this is how this engine operates?
@@MaximumDIYGarage It's what the Tacoma's lead design engineer stated publicly during interviews.
$28k + tax = $31k out the door.

That’s as basic as it gets. Do you recall think the new Toyotas are that bad?
