I've seen him live. EVERY day this young man grows as an artist. He's already a giant in his field.
really want to see him live! Asked him on instagram to come to Ronnie Scott's and he said hopefully so I've got my fingers crossed
Seeing Joey performing live must've been an experience you'll never forget! Speaking of performance: This video of Joey and his fellow artist is beautiful!!!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Greek Salad I’ve seen him twice. Can confirm he is of a divine form.
Totally agree, John!
hey I am you ;)
I keep coming back to warna. Keep making indonesia proud! Joey bagus sekali!!!
In case anyone was wondering 'Warna' is Indonesian/Malay for 'colour'
Daff Duck didn’t even wonder what it meant but thanks!

Joey on the ivories soothes my 85 yr old soul.💕
Joeyyyy!!!masih inget gak kata2 om idang rasjidi & tompi di kemang dulu"ini calon bintang jazz dunia" and you did it now!!!congrats and keep the faith joey👏👍
There's a certain joy in his playing, whether it's the grinning and nodding he does with the other musicians he's playing with, his phrasing, his sense of melody and timing, or just the way he can throw everything he has into a run, you can tell he's thoroughly enjoying himself. That's what music's all about, after all, isn't it? This kid is going to be an absolute giant in the music world. I just hope he's ready for it.
II saw this young with my grandson in Boca Raton Fl.He was and still awesome. The evening was so special a couple gave us front row seats. What a night.Godloveandjazz.Elayne.
Some "prodigies" becomes disappointing when they get older, but no worry: Joey Alexander gets better and better. He is an incredibly great artist.
This young man is playing on a different level. I'm not a musician but even a novice can tell.
Joey does not sound like Herbie or Chick or Joe Sample. He sounds like Joey. He sounds like what Heaven must be like. Pure, sweet and happy. What a joy to hear him play.
Go look for Jesus Molina he is another outstandig musician
Yep ur right👌
Leading a quartet so deep at such a young age is unfathomable! You never stop to amaze the jazz ‘world’ Joey. God Bless -
Love the sound that will carry us through the next several decades of jazz...
That smile is pure gold...
Joey Alexander, Your "Jazz-Musician-Ancestors" Up in "HEAVEN" Would Be So "PROUD" of You, Kid. 🙂
I, erm, uh.. I just want to say I can't believe I'm watching this for free. Thank you, Joey. Always be true to yourself.
I think Joey is the best Jazz Musician from Indonesia by far... it's a good thing he pursue his music abroad....
This young man just gets better and better. Already at the top of his game - where else is there to go in the many decades that lie ahead of him? A young musician of the next generation. Total respect.😷👍🇬🇧😷
One of the greatest musical geniuses in history. Time capsule grade!
I think I've noticed a pattern that some great musicians share. They enjoy playing music. Just look at how Joey is beaming throughout the entire performance! I think it would be very difficult to reach this level without that.
Dang this Kid Rocks!!! He's just having fun.... Reminds me of Warren Bernhardt's Fun Time!!!!
I went to see him at Princeton University recently and it was such an amazing experience!! I found myself forgetting to sip my wine because I was so taken away by the music. He is amazing live! the drum and the base were also fucking awesome!!!! I'd go see him in DC again in April if not for this stupid virus
The harp combo prior was pretty damn dope too :P
Sat front row to watch Joey live Seattle, about 3 feet from when he was 14. Won't forget it.
You may say you hear Herbie Hancock, or Bill Evans, or Thelonious Monk, but really what they heard is what Joey hears. When I first heard this cut I immediately thought Stanley Cowell, Lyle Mays,, or Joe Sample. But the bottom line is that we aren't hearing other artists, we are hearing what other artists and Joey Alexander are hearing. It's not the sound of the past or the future. It's an authentic depiction of the present. And that's what the greatest artists hear, the present clearly.
Oooo I like that.
Well said, but a nod to a mentor is just tradition!
Bill Evans is is is...understudied and unappreciated.
It's nice to listen to, but there's nothing groundbreaking happening here.
@@foun10head yeah, sure theres nothing groundbreaking here. In Jazz (and most any other genre today) I'd say groundbreaking no longer sounds good. In Jazz groundbreaking means its mathematically impeccable, but impossible to listen to, unless you are one of these nerds who pretend to themselves and the rest of us that they enjoy the abusive dissonance. Groundbreaking is the academic pitfall that pulled Jazz out of common cultural appreciation.
As far as good groundbreaking is concerned I feel like early smooth jazz was groundbreaking before it went commercial and became a garbage sound. I mentioned the guys I did because to me it seems Joey is going to be picking up at a spot where those guys left off. At least for now. Who knows, he may get academic on us, become groundbreaking, and help keep jazz tucked away, understudied and underappreciated.
God works/plays through him.
Semakin dewasa, musik Joey pun makin terasa lebih luas eksplorasinya!! Keren! Terus berkarya, Joey!!
It's such a privilege to witness his growth, honest and unfazed. Sail on, Joey!
Omg look at his face. Full of joy and happiness. Lovely!
Joey has one of most elusive qualities and that's patience ... He's an open channel
Pulled up a chair and put on my headphones and savored the sounds. 😊
Just look at the musicians faces and appreciate the moment they’re in…they understand and appreciate the moment!
Kid knocks you out live....I I saw him a couple years ago in Phoenix...so glad to be able to watch him as he progresses...amazing talent!!!
Ini mungkin singlemu yang paling ceria dan penuh variasi. Suka sekali, membuat hati terbang melayang walau sudah lewat tengah malam. Sukses terus mas joey. Kamu membuat indonesia sangat bangga
Priambodo Yogo Listen to his Downtime. Even more ceria 😁
It is such a privilege and pleasure to see Joey grow up (literally and as a jazz musician) right before our eyes! 🤩
Wow, the comping groove "feel" during the percussion solo is incredible. I played daily for a month straight with an Indonesian drummer that played with Joey during his early formative years. I got to ask him many questions about Joey. Apparently, his growth from decent player to an amazing full- developed player happened in almost a season. There is a prodigious aspect to his playing, but there was a leap that happened so I've been told. Btw- there are a lot of great Indonesian musicians out there. Steinway sounds great too. Impressed with the piano tech. World-class player and piano!
So glad to see the master Luisito Quintero in this video. Love the latin and jazz fusion (latin jazz). Joey is amazing (as always) and the drummer blew my mind!
What I really like about this guy among other things is his tone. His tone is not harsh and he can play softly when he wants to.
You're witnessing history.... pay attention. Congrats Joey!
Joey was the only one still keeping smile while playing the instrument, love it!
I've seen him perform twice (the first time when he was 12 and again at 14), and I didn't think he could possibly get any better. But he has! This is magnificent!
This is what I called “real diversity in truthful unity”
When music talks without hearing a word.
Nice to watch and hear effortless playing......played this to my 1 year old, cant say he wasn’t grooving.....
He had some sly little smiles occasionally that seemed to say wow, that was kind of magical!
Really thanks for your music 🎶
I'm your fan Joey, since you appear in RUclips, from Metro Manila, the Philippines, 60 years old! Puji Tuhan! Praise the LORD!
Keep on playing. As time goes by, your style become more and more delicious like aging wine.
1:09 idk it feels so magical. Feel so blessed to witness Joey growing.
5:10 Joey, just having fun playing with the music. You can tell that he has a great sense of humor :)
Crushing it. His sidemen are smoking it here and Joey is letting them go off.
Like a waterfall, beautiful...the phrasing is exquisite
It's always so nice to see that Joey seems to be getting as much pleasure from playing as his audience gets from listening to him play
I've watched this this video a dozen times and every time It makes my soul dance with joy! Keep em coming Joey!
Maestro Alexander! Truly contemporary playing for the ages. Inspired, fierce and fearless. And just full of utter joy! Thanks for sharing your music and your humble approach to life! Forever a fan!!
Luisito Quintero on the conga drums. Viva Venezuela!!!
He's apsolutly incredible. He had an old soul or a brand new one.
JOEY ALEXANDER - FINGERS OF FIRE!
He was crazy amazing at 10. 15 now, and astounding! How does someone so young play like this?!
just heard this on the radio and shazamed it and glad i found this dude. great stuff
Siempre mostrando una mayor fluidez complejidad sutilezas...que lo va a llevar a una madurez en su creación....un agrado ver cómo evoluciona.... para bien...
I can't help but think I'm witnessing, and hearing, genius.
he really is an astonishingly subtle sensitive and creative player..
The small young thing makes it 'impressive' for a few seconds..
then you're gone in waves and waves of generous genius..
Love this track so much! Also the video is just a joy to watch. The vibe in the studio and seeing everyone having a blast and giving such a great performance. Truly a gift
This is my new favorite. Will be on repeat for a long time.
He smiles like he has had two Pepsi's and is sleeping on the top bunk 🤣
Good God! What a wonderful artist! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thankyou for the music
Loved seeing you having fun with this one! Amazing as usual.
Hey Jan 31 (the release date) is my Birthday! I couldn’t have asked for a better gift. Thank you this is awesome... I can’t wait to hear the whole album.
Can you imagine, at 11 he had been among the greatest jazz musicians competing at Grammy (most prestigious awards). Where would he be at 20, 30, 40??
those smiles are everything
I'm starting to love Jazz music because of him.
Love you
Ternyata orang indonesia mayoritaa lbh suka drama yg tak jelas atw musik alay yg modal tmpang dan cm cari sensasi dr pda musik yg berkualita, atw mkin kita blm siap dgn musik yg sprti ini, pdhal ini adalah salah satu talenta terbaik Indonesia yg diakui di dunia.
Semangat terus joey.

Keep 'em coming young man. That was amazing. Love Larry on Bass.
these are 4 of the finest musicians around......!!! Larry Grenadier is one of my fav bassist on upright ever...
I feel grateful when listenning to this
Brilliant - beyond playing the notes, he has an exquisitely characteristic (piano) voice!
The more I listen.... the more I realize.... what is this? An amazing pallette of licks.... I can slowly see the color..🔥
Sounding amazing as always Joey. Always a pleasure to watch and listen to you play. :)
