    Trip to Ladakh: Day 6
A Day’s Ride from Pangong Tso to Leh: A Biker’s Journey
It’s early morning, and the sun is just starting to rise over Pangong Tso, casting a golden glow over the calm, turquoise waters. After an incredible night by the lake, we’re ready to head back to Leh, but not before a quick breakfast by the shore. The beauty of the morning, with the snow-capped mountains reflecting on the still lake, is the perfect start to what will be an unforgettable day.
We gear up and hit the road, riding alongside Pangong’s shimmering waters. The cool wind in our faces, the vast blue sky overhead, and the rugged terrain stretching out in front of us-it’s a rider’s dream. Every curve of the road reveals a new, breathtaking view of Ladakh’s untouched beauty. It’s moments like these that make the long, challenging journey worth it.
By 2 PM, we begin the climb toward Changla Pass, one of the highest motorable passes in the world. The air gets colder as we ascend, and patches of snow line the narrow, winding roads. Reaching the top feels like a victory in itself. We stop to take in the awe-inspiring view, surrounded by snow-covered peaks, and enjoy a cup of hot tea to warm up. The sense of achievement and camaraderie among our group is strong as we share stories and laughs at 17,590 feet.
We descend into Leh around 3 PM and head straight to a local restaurant for lunch. After hours on the road, the food feels well-earned, and we’re all buzzing with excitement from the ride. But there’s still one more stop before we call it a day-Rancho’s School, made famous by the movie 3 Idiots. Walking through the school, seeing the colorful buildings and the sustainable approach to education, brings a sense of nostalgia and inspiration.
By 4 PM, we’re back at the hotel, exhausted but exhilarated. After some rest, we head out again to explore Leh Market. The streets are alive with the colors and sounds of local vendors, offering everything from traditional Ladakhi handicrafts to Tibetan souvenirs. It’s the perfect way to wind down after a long day on the road.
Finally, back at the hotel for dinner, we gather one last time to receive our travel completion certificates. It’s a small but meaningful token that symbolizes more than just the miles we’ve covered-it represents the adventures we’ve shared, the friendships we’ve built, and the memories that will last a lifetime. This journey from Pangong to Leh has been an experience we’ll never forget.
