    Nice job on your videos Tahmid. This is my take on the semis. The final will probably be Thiem Medvedev. Djokovic looked like a shell of himself against Nadal in RG 2020 and against Med here. He also almost got beat by Thiem at the AO final. His form this year in general has been subpar, but he has still been winning tournaments because he is Djokovic and a subpar Djokovic still beats lesser competition and even good players. It is against the elite where this is a problem. I just don't think Nole has the form right now to do it. Nadal looks pretty good and this is one of his better years here. However, when push comes to shove, he is a clay court specialist at heart and this is his worst surface. I don't expect him to beat Medvedev again on this surface, especially considering his form. The Russian will be determined to avenge that 5-1 choke last year and will succeed.

I'm going with Rafa and Dominic in the finals. After all I am a Rafa fan. :) If Novak fans can pick against Rafa at Roland Garros, it is time to repay that favor. Novak fans always pick against Rafa. Tahmid,
    (1) You are correct. Novak’s match had to be first today. Novak-Zverev winner would play Thiem in the first semi-final on Saturday.
    (2) When I went to the O2 in 2018, Novak played last on Friday as he was already locked in to play the late semi-final on Saturday. Zverev and Roger played the early SF on Saturday in 2018.
    (3) It’s hard to pick the winner of Thiem-Novak. If Novak is sharp like today, he will win. If he played last in 2019, Thiem will win. I think Medvedev will avenge the 2019 USO match and 2019 WTF RR losses.
    (4) I wish our paths crossed in 2018 and I hope they do someday. I enjoy your commentary. Keep up the great work.

    They say for the 'Semi's' it should
    be ...
    Tokyo Winner v London 2nd.
    London Winner v Tokyo 2nd.
    So that would be ...
    Medvedev v Thiem
    Nadal v Djokovic ...
    Do those Rules go out the

    Hoping Djokovic and Nadal....
    ....but who knows.
    I'm a big Djokovic fan, however it would be nice to see Nadal get his first end of year event. For Djokovic, a win is just really now for his record collection.
    I'm not a fan of Medvedev. His style is the opposite of graceful, totally unorthodox. His personality is just as eccentric. But good on him if he can win.
    One would think Thiem is the next logical winner. But I do have my doubts. Hopefully his fighting win, despite it being a terrible 5th set to watch, in the US Open may have settled his mind games. It will be very interesting to see how he goes next year......
    Ultimately, I'm not fussed who wins this event. There's been some unusual winners over the last four years, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's Medvedev.

    Predictions: (as a Djokovic fan!)
    1. Medvedev to beat Nadal unless he plays like he did against Theim (not Tsitsipas).
    2. Theim to beat Djokovic if he plays like he did against Nadal (I don't think Djokovic will remain dialled in to reach that level but if he does game on).
    3. Djokovic to win the tournament if he beats Theim (Medvedev will be under pressure to beat him twice and against Nadal he will want some consolation for French Open defeat).
    4. Nadal to win the tournament if he beats Medvedev and plays Theim in the final (as his semi will likely be more physical against Djokovic).

    Thiem vs Nadal final

  • @goldwolf0606
    @goldwolf0606 4 года назад +3

    Thiem won a grand slam and played in 3 other finals. Everyone knows who is the boss after The big 3. He doesn’t need to win any more masters. He needs to win another grand slam to make a statement that he’s taken Murray’s place in the big 4. Medvedev and Abuserev have won more masters than Thiem but nobody thinks they are his boss 😂 grand slam performances is the bar. Masters is like a gauge for who is going to be a contender for slams but it’s not actual slam performance. Thiems legacy is safe. He won’t be winning double digit slams so everything else is just the cherry on top. A couple more slams and he’s a legend of the game like Murray and Stan. Now he’s a hall of famer like Roddick.

    • @pavlenikacevic4976
      @pavlenikacevic4976 4 года назад +3

      Thiem is nowhere close to being a part of big 4. Murray has won 3 GS, 14 masters, 1 tour finals and 2 olympics and has also been No. 1 in the world. He was opposition to the big 3 at their prime

    • @meles3740
      @meles3740 4 года назад

      Good call on Thiem GW as he would have won three RG in a row without Nadal blocking the way; Murray and Stan can't say that and get rid of one of the big 3 and they don't really win that many more slams when you get down to it. Thiem probablys wins Auz Open without the grueling Nadal QF starting the draining process. No Nole, Thiem wins Auz.
      But are you having sycophantic dreams like Tahmid pining for a Big 2 final here? We really can't lose as tennis fans, but for me Djoko vs Nadal kind of rinse and repeat boring unless of course Rafa adminsters toaster burns to the Nole behind. It would be betterer if Nole would just lose.

      @jacobschmidt2709 4 года назад +2

      I like Thiem and he is playing great. He is the joint favorite with Medvedev to win this. However, Djokovic being defaulted and Nadal not playing puts an asterisk on that slam(not saying he didn't deserve it tho). Next year he may slay the red bull on red sand and that will be will be his sweetest victory yet. Watch out.

    • @goldwolf0606
      @goldwolf0606 4 года назад

      @@jacobschmidt2709 there’s absolutely no asterisk in Thiems uso victory. Novak was there and he got himself defaulted, that’s not Thiems fault and that’s a part of the game. You don’t say Novak’s 2029 Wimbledon win is asterisked because Roger choked 2 match points away... not choking is part of the game. Novak choked and got himself defaulted. Thiem took full advantage and is a grand slam champ without asterisk. Rafa chose not to go, would he have won? Probably, but he chose not to go and Defaultovic choked. Thiem is the champ period.
