- SHE IS A REPLICA OF THE FAMOUS BARON VON RICHTHOFENS "THE RED BARON" TRIPLANE BUT IS FAR MORE MANOUVERABLE THAN THE REAL TRIPLANE,
SHE WAS BUILT FROM AN ARTF KIT !
SHE HAS A W/SPAN OF - 4.8 MTRS,
HAS 4 MULTIPLEX RECEIVERS ONBOARD - 1 IN EACH WING AND 2 IN THE TAIL,
ALL SERVOS ARE HITEC 44KG TORQUE - 3 PER AILERON, 2 PER ELEVATOR HALF, 3 ON THE RUDDER,
USES J.PERKINS LIPOS BATTS FOR RX / SERVO POWER,
STEVE IS A MECHANIC / ENGINNEER AND DESIGNED THE 550cc FLAT FOUR PETROL ENGINE HIMSELF, THE ENGINE IS BASED ON THE 2W 275 ENGINE BUT STEVE DESIGNED HIS OWN CRANKSHAFT, CRANKCASE, MANIFOLDS, EXHAUST & ELECTRONIC IGNITION,
CYLINDERS & PISTONS ARE FROM THE 3W 275 ENGINE !
THE REAL FOKKER DR1 WAS A COPY OF THE ENGLISH SOPWITH TRIPLANE (CAPTURED INTACT) IN 1917,
HERES SOME INFO ON THE REAL AIRCRAFT -

Engine type: Rotary engine
Manufacturer: Fokker
Number built: 320
The Fokker Dr.I (Dreidecker, "triplane" in German) was a World War I fighter aircraft built by Fokker-Flugzeugwerke. The Dr.I saw widespread service in the spring of 1918. It became famous as the aircraft in which Manfred von Richthofen gained his last 19 victories, and in which he was killed on 21 April 1918.
In February 1917, the Sopwith Triplane began to appear over the Western Front.[1] Despite its single Vickers machine gun armament, the Sopwith swiftly proved itself superior to the more heavily armed Albatros fighters then in use by the Luftstreitkräfte. In April 1917, Anthony Fokker viewed a captured Sopwith Triplane while visiting Jasta 11. Upon his return to the Schwerin factory, Fokker instructed Reinhold Platz to build a triplane, but gave him no further information about the Sopwith design. Platz responded with the V.4, a small, rotary-powered triplane with a steel tube fuselage and thick cantilever wings, first developed during Fokker's government-mandated collaboration with Hugo Junkers. Initial tests revealed that the V.4 had unacceptably high control forces resulting from the use of unbalanced ailerons and elevators.
Instead of submitting the V.4 for a type test, Fokker produced a revised prototype designated V.5. The most notable changes were the introduction of horn-balanced ailerons and elevators, as well as longer-span wings. The V.5 also featured interplane struts, which were not necessary from a structural standpoint, but which minimized wing flexing. On 14 July 1917, Idflieg issued an order for 20 pre-production aircraft. The V.5 prototype, serial 101/17, was tested to destruction at Adlershof on 11 August 1917.

At that scale it is a whole different hobby. Amazing!
What a beautiful plane!!! Being a 65% scale, it's tempting to put in a kid there and give him a joyride. Outstanding takeoff. Just like a helicopter!!
If the Baron could do those maneuvers , I don't think he would be shot down. Very cool stuff guys. Outstanding triplane and flying of it.
He was shot down during chasing a British fighter at low altitude at the enemy artillery, he mistakenly did that instead of leaving the pursuit but he wasn't shot down by another fighter
Nice build and piloting... Only downside to me ever building this size is it would be to tempting for me to jump in and try to ride!
There's really only one word for this aeroplane build. Fantastic.
Good gravy, that was the most incredible take off I have ever seen outside of a helicopter. Beautifully crafted airplane and excellent flying skills.👍👍👍
That's one giant Fokker dr1 triplane looks like a real one I saw it at wings and wheels north Weald airfield 2017 Sunday great very short takeoff and slow flying great landing
What an effort to build such a great beauty not to mention the one and only engine in the world...
Wow, what was that, like a whopping 7 feet till it left the ground? Incredible!
Man, if the Red Baron had THAT thing full-scale, LOOK OUT! Looked like a real joy to fly. Cool
Maybe make a 1/1 Fokker Dr1 with some carbon fiber and titanium and other advanced materiels to make it even lighter, other advancements in fabric covering and a modern rotary with a much higher power-to-weight ratio, and it might approach the performance of this model
Brilliant!!! It would be fun to see two RC pilots put on a duel.
Celebrated and associated with Von Richthofen, only 19 of his 80 kills were made in the Fokker Dr.I. The majority came while flying the Albatros C II. (He also scored kills in a Halberstadt D.II) His first red plane was the Albatros. The first Fokker's had engineering problems in the wings. He switched back to the Albatros till the Fokker showed better. Von Richthofen helped refine the Fokker (v. D. VII) but never flew it in combat being killed by either ground fire or during air combat.
wow, a fabulous aircraft. I expected the prop would be too small for the size and weight of the aircraft, but it seems to fly fine with what it has.
The Fokker Tri-Plane was so maneuverable, it spun around in mid flight to bring it's guns to bear on it's enemies following it.
I would give anything i have to be in a real plane like that...well a kids dream...
Großartiges Modell. Sehr gut gemacht. Kompliment für die Erbauer. 😗😘
vielen Dank
Beautiful plane and flying ....... :)
AND at "Scale speed"! :)
the DR1 was and is noted for it's abilities in the short take off and in climbing...
Beautiful airplane and some great piloting; Well done!
Stunning! This aircraft acts like it was the precursor to the modern VTOL. Excellent flying skills!
All that work and you get to the flying field to hear the priceless line "it's a big fokker"
Great flight, didn't cross my mind that type of model was capable of that type of flying! Lots of stress on that airframe eh!
Very impressive 🤔👍
Love it.
There's so much drag on the airframe plus all that lift, I doubt there is any time for stress. The original had a minimum of bracing wires
That it's cool! That is HUGE! That is cool! Beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
thanks steven
Incredible. I wonder how the power/weight ratio compares to the real one?
WOW what a beauty! Manfred would love it!
That was very impressive. Great plane. Great pilot
thanks bobby
Fantastic model! And I really like the blue & white color scheme instead of the over used red paint job of Richtoven's. Also, amazing take off, and piloting!
Thank you very much cal
That is the plane of Leutnant Raben of Jasta 18
I came and I looked.. and fell in love.
Shortest take off ever _and_ shortest landing ever. Impressive -little- big RC triplane there.
what a bird ! gave me goose bumps with that landing , very nice
Excellent airplane and video. Remarkable. So responsive.
Dave
Stunning demo!!
A classic video Pete
cheers deek
Great plane.... Great pilot
that poor kid in the driver seat, would have got dizi with all that acrobatic flying, ha ha
Amazing!!!!!
Wow! Very spectacular airshow!!!!
thanks rossi
I grew up on .049 nitro and u-control. Seeing this thing land while a turbine spools up in the background really makes me feel old XD
same here capta
das flugzeug und seine erbauer haben den himmel durchgespielt. expert level!
Amazing workmanship and piloting skills. I therefore believe the prop is exactly what the builder wanted -and it obviously performs very well- it just appears a little small in comparison to the rest of the plane. The little prop that could and did?
That was some amazing flying . All I can say is wow
I love that you chose the less done but still authentic blue bird scheme it is far prettier and sets the bird apart from the gazillions of red dridekers out there - stunning work, great airmanship, very inspired
I think the Dr1's qualify as vierdeckers as that short wing between the wheels certainly adds some extra lift
........... Loved it ....!
thanks ormus
That plane took off on propblast and headwind.
Good paint design.
Awesome video as always. Amazing airplane, amazing flying. Good Show!
Glad you enjoyed it
That must get nearly as much thrust out of the engine exhaust as it does from the propeller
V.T.O.L (Verily - Triplane : Obtains - _Levitation_ ) *_R > G_*
6:20 - great tip vortex footage!
Awesome Vidd.. Awesome build to.. 💗💗💪💪🔥🔥
That is really cool!!!
Runway? We don't need no stinking runway.. hold my beer.
Awesome flying skills Grejt plane
Awesome doesn't even describe it
Beautiful Triplane!
thanks cool
very nice plane...and great flying...with this rather smallish propeller.
Nice tri wing
What a beast👍✈️✈️😊
Sweet landing!
Great flying
Woah, looks like the Timber's got some competition!
LOL
Lots of lift there, very cool!
THAT WAS UNREAL!!!
Great video g! These guys must have huge hangars! (And I do mean a place to store an plane, not something to do with the "other hangers". Thumbs up!
Cheers, G.
you saucy sausage G ! i know what you mean m8
It would be cool to have this model!!! Awesome stuff!!!
thanks harald
I love the floater planes...
beautiful
Fantastic Big XXXL Triple‼️
Espectacular‼️🙏👌👍
many thanks jose
José I
Gavin Waite 👋 Gavin
AWESOME BEAUTY! FANTASTIC JOB ON EVERYTHING. How much did the MOTOR COST?
all info in video description lance, no idea how much it cost !
Pretty cool plane.
Incredible!
What a pilot!!
WOW!!!! Takeoff in 6/7 meters!!!!! is "Fun-tas-tic" Fokker ;-)
thats a large over-estimation
I think I have not overestimated it ... if we take into account that it moves approximately one meter before giving gas to the bottom and the route before taking off the wheels of the grass is approximately the length of the fuselage and maybe a little more gives result. that takes off in about 6 meters or so ... maybe even less ....
I have analyzed the video, taken points of reference and calculated based on the two people that appear next to the plane giving them an average of 1.70m in height which gives me approximately that distance, and possibly I am wrong but for very little .. ... I even dare to say that between 5 and 6 meters! ;-)
can be two people of 1.5m height only, or 1.80m, I do not know ... but if you let me really adjust the feeling is between 4m and 5m maximum ....
Reviewing the video and especially the scene in low motion I have verified that effectively, it takes off in the almost exact distance of its own fuselage taking into account the exact point since it accelerates until it takes off the wheels, that is to say, it takes off in approximately 5 or 5 , 5m walk up foot down .... ;-D
right, 2 to 3 meters. 3.1m maximum
Mike Schmitt sorry but no... 5 aprox.... Large of plane... If the plane is 5,77m this is a distance...
How big does a Model Airplane need to be before falling under FAA Regulations ??
How many cc has the motor please ???
What a big model !!
Awesome !
all info in the video description dom
Spettacolare perfect landing
thanks gianni
It flies like my indoor foamy! How much does it weigh?
Hi I enjoyed the video. Do you have a link for the engine build or links to pictures of the engine.
It would have been nice to see the flight from a cockpit view. It's big 'un, so a tail or pilots view go-pro would added to the filming. Great model...nice one!
Thats a bloody big fokker
It's a carrier-capable WW1 fighter :)
Why did it seem like the motor was ready to stall out the whole flight? What kind of motor is it?
Gordon Bennet ! I thought there was a pilot in it at the beginning ! The take off and landing was nearly VTOL! It must be extremely light construction to do that . Did he do a spin towards the end ? I read of an American copy of the Red Barons aircraft. Where the pilot was warned not to attempt a spin , if he did do a spin it came out very easily .
spins not a problem pete, check them out here in these videos - ruclips.net/video/go_rSpJIc3g/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/rq2oYxfbDgU/видео.html
Might as well build a full size one, incredible piloting though.
There must become a time when limits are put on the size of models, this is damn near the size of a real aircraft and it's about time it was set a limit.
Why?
It would be interesting if the held the wing tips at full power and then released it. what a drone.
The world record of the shortest landing in the world is in Valdez alaska with the piper super cub landing about 10 feet 5 inches
I wish they would include video from a plane cam . i wish I had a real tri plane to fly .
nice
Instead of the red baron, it's the blue baron. LOL!
I feel you might as well build a full size replica and take ppl up for rides.
Adding more wing's create better lift but how fare apart does the wings need to be at ??
no idea john
WOW
Have you ever thought building the Wright Flyer...and fly it 3D...? Ha ha ha
so it seems the advantage of a tri plane is short take offs? I knew they were more maneuverable at slow speeds
Oh .......... My .............God!!!! I want this plane. Where is it parked at night? What is the security like?
'stall' ... what is that ?? :-)
Now that's just to big you can put a human inside of it😄 But it's a very nice looking airplane I like the paint sceme.
fancy volunteering eric ?
👍👍👍
65% scale - stunning. At what point does it qualify as a plane and not a model? When someone is sat inside doing the flying?
that engine and prop size were disapointing lol
Flown by George Costanza!
