    "The certain notes I play everyday on the guitar, which I don't even know what they are or what their function is, all I know is that they work, and it comes from the heart, it comes from the soul, and that is what the listener is gonna relate to as well"
    I'll try to remember that, very nice quote

      Gypsy Jazz Secrets Hey Robin, I came back to this lesson one more time and I got one question
      How do we train our ear?I think I have a decent ear training, but I mean, How can we get to play what we hear in our minds when Improvising?
      I've been struggling so much with improvisation the last 2 months, but I notice that as soon as I hear half a line, or lick or whatever, I can hear (or imagine) how it goes on, and I'd really like to play what I imagine the moment I imagine it, do you have some advice?
      Thank you for all your help on this wonderful style and I'd love to play with you someday, cheers Robin :)

    Grat lesson. Thanks a lot. But why you called the G in the Dm the sixth? It's confusing... It sounds beautiful, though... The sixth isn't Bb?

    • @GypsyJazzSecrets
      @GypsyJazzSecrets  8 лет назад

      +maria teresa canton hi Maria - the 6th is B natural and gives that beautiful flavour on both a major and minor chord. - You know just follow your ears - the 6th or 7th are just names and numbers - the music is the truth!

    We are planneg to play and sing this at the OzManouche festival this year. I'll be playing bass, but of course this lesson is valuable. This might have been made 9 years ago but it is still relevant, and you have not changed in all this time. Thanks. Yes the sixth is part of the charm of this beautiful tune.

    Amazing stuff, especially about trusting your ear!
    Can you do a lesson devoted to the hammer-ons and pull-offs that you do? Along with the 6th and the 9th, they really seem to be an important part of the Gypsy Jazz sound.
