Holy fxxk man. When the music started for the video segment, those first few notes of what sounded like a warning siren were a big shock! Listening through headphones here.
I wish Sigma will redesign the compact i-series so they can perform better optically without being dependent of software to perform. I do not think it is an "odd" focal length, back in time 58, 60 and some 65mm Lenses was more common. I have the excellent Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 65mm 2.0 Aspherical which have outstanding image quality and I can very highly recommend it.
Interesting. Why would you think that? Aren't all current lenses for mirrorless cameras made in the same fashion? I have never experienced optical problems (apart from the usual chromatic aberration) with Sigma i-series lenses. Have you?
@@PavSZ Some Lenses are designed better optically than others, the manufacturers of Lenses gets more and more lazy, I do not like that ! I will not even think of buying a Sigma lens ! I pay to get the very best Lenses, not software !!!

hi , very nice review.. i am planning to buy this lens for panasonic S5... some few reviewers said that AF is inconsistent in L mount bodies..is that true ? mostly my purpose is for marriage or event photography only for people... and i will use single AF mode only... no continuous or eye focus or any tracking or no videos.. only single focus photography... is there any issues with single focusing accuracy ? pls help .. thanks
@@PavSZ Good point. Do you think the 24 is a solid lens for professional real estate photography? Or should I be looking at something else. I’m shooting on the Sigma FP.
@@enricojakobsoriano it's solid for sure but I don't think 24mm is wide enough for real estate photography - for big spaces, yes for an average sized house, no.
Hi Pav! Thank you for the excellent reviews. I have the lumix 85 but I'm thinking of replacing it with that one. Although it's a very sharp lens, I find it quite restrictive sometimes... What's your view? How do these two compare in terms of image quality and AF?
Thank you! They are very similar image quality wise. Lumix 85mm will give you slightly more zoom compression wide open and it will be overall better focusing when filming with it (camera model dependant)
Its one of those lenses one gifts to oneself! Beautiful desgn & optics. I was thinking either this lense or the voigtlander 65mm 1;2 macro but the design - size - ergonmy goes in favor of the sigma. I have never been a fan of 85mm & prefer the 90-105mm (macro combined) fl. Some editions of the helios 44 series sometimes - at closer distance can have 60+ fl. The sgma 65 combines the classical design with modern optics & AF but with better MF and gives something unique. I like to work with primes and its nice when I can put them in a jacket pocket. I have the tamron 24, the samyang 45 - sony & sigma (90/105) so the 65 is the sweet spot!
@Pav SZ I know this comment is fairly late but hopefully you take the time to reply. I currently own the Sony 55mm 1.8 but since buying the Sony 35mm GM (35mm is one of my fav focal lengths) they do feel quite close together. I was considering selling the Sony 55mm 1.8 for the Sigma 65mm - would you recommend this move at all? I also own the Sony 85mm 1.8 but I do feel it's a tight lens to use when indoors.
different lens. Sigma might be a touch sharper overall than Lumix 50mm. Only you can decide which one renders nicer bokeh to you. Checl out my review of the Lumix 50mm as well. Plenty of samples in it as well

65mm is the perfect focal length for Tele in opinion. The iPhone Tele lens got me hooked on it (iphone 12 pro max).
yes!
Great ! Do you really think 65mm could be a great versatile all aroud focal lenght for travel ?
maybe. that depends on your shooting style, your preference etc.
Generally speaking, something like 35mm is better all rounder (for me anyway)
This looks good. I was considering the Voigtlander 65mm f/2 in E-mount, but this looks like a better alternative.
it is - it has auto focus!

hard to say as I never used any Canon before. Personally I like the choice of lenses for Sony cameras
How much is the focus breathing in video?
it's the same as with all other lenses in i-series. It is visible
