Great review man. FINALLY someone tests this new lens on the Sigma fp, which I own( reviews on E-mount only so far). Imagine that, actually using a Sigma lens on a Sigma body...go figure! This is the lens I will be buying of the three. I like the odd focal length and consider it a plus, unlike many others. The new 24mm should have been a F2.8 or even a F2.0, this was a serious misstep on Sigma's part (don't know what they were thinking?). Canon has really let me down with their overpriced RF lenses in PLASTIC housings but Sigma has the right formula here. Keep up the good work, I appreciate your efforts man.
Many Thanks for the review. I am intrested in this lens for videopgraphy. Does image stabilization works for all video modes? What is your opinion about autofocusing ?
I bought the lens and got it immediately over a wk ago. Its a beautifully designed lens and a pleasure to use. Its very sharp as expected and being slightly slower much more ergonomic to use & more in tune with the form factor of mirrorless. The aperture ring tho not declicked is very smooth and has several inbetween stops so I donot see a major difference between the declicked lenses that I have. The manual focus is a joy to use as is DMF when the AF sometimes cannot find small foreground subjects at mfd - it is the smoothest MF that I have used on a modern lens. It has incorporated the best qualities from the film era and combined them to the high resolution modern sensors. I am using it on an a7r4. The only other 65mm lens s the voigtlander which i was on the fence with. However it is a heavier lens with no AF and 1:2 macro - also costlier. Personally I prefer the sigma as it is very versatile lens with a better form factor & hence very enjoyable to work with & gives the possibility to work with both MF & AF.
Thanks for the early review. Regarding the magnetic lens cap design, I am curious how Sigma design team considered the use case of most users who will want to permanently fit a protecting filter onto the lens which does not attract magnetic metals. Any clue?
Thanks Garrett. It’s a fun focal length to shoot with. I feel it gives me that little extra reach I sometimes want on a 50. Also the depth of field is more like a 50 1.4
Hi, great video! I do have some thoughts. I'm either going for the Sigma 65, and 35 or the the new Panasonic, 35mm 1,8 +, 85mm, 1,8 lineup. I'm going to use them for filming mostly. Does the Sigma lenses have hard stop on the focus ring and image stabilisation built in?
Would definitely like to see the comparisons with Leica lenses! Also, does the Sigma lens have weather sealing gaskets? I can’t tell from Sigma’s website.
Hey, buddy. I have a strange problem with the sigma 24 f2 lens on my sigma fp camera. The thing is that I can't turn off the aperture repeater in photo mode. The lens in this photo mode, makes the aperture open a hundred percent and keeps this position until you press the shutter release. Because of this, I can not evaluate the frame and depth of field. Can you tell me what the problem is and how to return the aperture closing.
I bought this 65 and it is on it way, but SAR just “leak” that a 50 mm f2 is coming this month (abril 2022), are you gonna get it?. I Have high hopes to replace my voigtlander 50 apo which is fantastic but MF🤷🏻♂️. I believe Sigma can match the voigtlander performance.
@@UchihaxStudios There is no bokeh problem with the sigma FP. You only have this problem when a camera has a mechanical shutter, and select the "electronic first curtain shutter mode". In the FP you only have an electronic shutter, and that's it, no problem ;) And by the way, this bokeh problem affect all lenses on all cameras when you use "electronic first curtain shutter mode", it's just the nature of this mode. So don't think to hard about it, it nothing specific to sigma
@@TECH360TV From the product announcement, it will be the last of the three to be available for purchase. Hope you get one to review! I don't regret getting the 45mm with my Sigma fp but glad I didn't get the 85mm F1.4 Art yet. So much for otherwise just sticking with inherited legacy lenses... Sigma is on a roll! Thanks for your review :)
I really wanted to pick up a Sigma FP for a mix of stills and video but actually mostly stills since it is so small and I don't mind the lack of a viewfinder. Thinking of pairing it with the Sigma 85 1.4 and maybe this 65 since I mostly shoot portraits but if the bokeh is not as good on the FP because of the lack of mechanical shutter then I will have to rethink it all.
To be honest the differences are very minor. You prob couldn’t tell what Camera I was using during the Lightroom portion of the review, as you would really need to zoom in a pixel peep to see the differences. This was highlighted as there are some viewers that really do this type of analysis, but the average viewer won’t see the differences
I have the Sigma fp and bokeh I would not worry about. Lack of mechanical shutter is challenging inside in LED lights, but can be overcome by using 1/100 speed (50Hz light).

@@DanyGiletto I appreciate the info. I know it's an issue with electronic shutter on other cameras but some say only at higher shutter speeds like 1/1000 which I rarely shoot at since I am mostly shooting around golden hour in the evening or after anyway. Plus I only shoot with mechanical shutter.
The desktop recording portion of the video in lightroom is very pixelated on a high resolution display, doesn't look like 4K. Maybe something went wrong during rendering? Anyone else with this issue?

Thanks for watching. Yes Sigma did a great job with this
Just bought one. Very interesting focal length on the SL2 and as you say super sharp. Thank you for your review.
Glad you liked it as well
Good explanation - finally - by somebody on the lens range.
I bought this for the E mount and I am loving it. Sooooooo sharp.
Hope they will release this lenses for the Z mount and the RF mount.
Agree
Love your reviews, but it's hard to see the quality of the photos when your LR screen recording is in 720p or something ;)
Great Video
Thanks Martin 🙏
Nice review. Can you do a comparison between EFC on and off with regard to the Boker please?
I’ll try for the full review

Can the magnets in the lens or the magnetic lens cap mess around with the electronics of your camera body?

Yes it’s a great lens and one of Sigma’s best in 2020

Good question! Will ask that to them
Looks like this review was shot with the Panasonic S1H. Which lens and picture profile were used? Was much colour grading involved?
Great review. Very curious about this focal length.

Interesting review. I’m looking at used Leica SL’s an think this might be a good candidate. How would it compare to the 65 mm Voigtlander APO?
Thanks. I think for the L Mount and AF this is a fantastic lens. Very sharp, great control of highlights and nice bokeh. Would recommend it
A thought, on an APSC camera like a Leica CL its about a 100mm f2 portrait lens
If this performs so well at f2, I don't think Leica will want to lend you their cron to compare.
Hahaha will see :)
Does the Sony A7C have a mechanical first curtain shutter to take advantage of the bokeh on this lens.
Got to say - it was jumping about in video tho.
Yes

Will there be a review for the 35/2 as well? :)
Yes
TECH.360 what did you film this review on
Panasonic Lumix S1H

These lenses aren’t fully weather reais but do have some sealing to them
@@TECH360TV Is there a rubber ring around the back of the lens?
Does it make when focusing in video mode?

Done

Nice review . How does it do the S1R ? I’m intrigued by the 65mm focal length .
Performs really well on the S1R. Fast AF and great IQ

Magnetic lens cap doesn’t work if you fit a filter. I’ve left mine in the box.
when are the Nikon 14-24 f2.8s and 50 1.2s review coming
Soon. Editing now
Is there mechanical shutter in the FP to get the best bokeh?
Nope, Fp only has electronic shutter

ahh I was hoping it was all mechanica, the L mount could use some MF-only glass, SL lenses are pretty chunky
Can use M lenses, TT Artisan, Voigtlander, Zeus, 7 Artisans etc.
These lenses are quite compact actually
