I grind up chicken quarters for my dogs and feed that and a cup of grain-free kibble once a day to them. I feel that just like humans, they do not need to eat more than one meal per day. However, I will admit that I give them a few treats per day. No dog biscuits but sometimes I will give them plain pork rinds. I realized a few years ago that I probably shortened the lives of some of my previous dogs with a bad diet. That guilt eats at me often because I have had some wonderful dogs.
I wish I could re-live my last thirty years. I just never took my diabetes seriously enough. Boy was that a mistake! Now I am paying dearly for it. The peripheral neuropathy and diabetic retinopathy make the quality of life horrible, not to mention the lack of energy and depression. I have finally been trying very hard to reverse as much of this as I can. Listening to Dr. Mason and many of these other low-carb Keto related doctors is a big help.

I'm doing OMAD because I have had insulin resistance, high blood pressure, high triglycerides, fatty liver, and I didn't feel well. I started my OMAD and low-carb journey on 1/1/2021. Today is 4/12/2021. I lost a total of 35lbs, and I feel great. I'm 55 years old, and my BMI(22.3) is normal for the first time in 35 years. Finally, I'm not pills and doctors dependent. I feel that I can control my life and further, and I have the upper hands now. I hate to say that most doctors are so eager to write patients prescriptions that only control the symptoms. When the patients got worse, most doctors blame the patients for not listening. Any type of intermittent fasting will work.

We were told for decades that carbs must go through a long digestive process that “prevents “ weight gain, whereas FAT, when eaten, “ goes directly to fat” . I’m so happy to now know how fat , protein, and carbs work and thank l the doctors and researchers putting the information out there to help people. Disclaimer: I am not giving advice so please do your own research. Thanks. You're literally a life-saver, Paul. There aren't adequate or enough superlatives to give credit for what you do, so I'll just say a massive THANK YOU! Briefly: I've been a 22/2 daily faster for the past 5 years or so, and periodically I've undertaken multi-day fasts also. My longest was 23 days in September of 2019. My point is, I thought I was doing everything right regarding nutrition until I, fortunately, came across Dr. Paul Mason. So from 2 weeks ago, I cut out all seed oils, in fact, all oils. I replaced them with lard, butter, and coconut oil. I also removed pasta and rice from my diet. I replaced them with a lot more vegetables (I like the taste of sauteed, seasoned veg especially Brussels sprouts) My one meal is sautéed with a daily change in my choice of protein. Tonight, for example, is Salmon, Cod, and 3 boiled eggs. Which ever source of animal protein I use, I always add 3 sliced boiled eggs. One hour after that fantastic home-cooked meal, I eat a small clean dessert which consists of 2 pieces of chopped fruit, and approx four dessert spoons of ground-up raw nuts and seeds, with a few dessert spoons of full-fat yogurt. (I have a large Tupperware receptical in my fridge that contains a variety of raw ground nuts and seeds, Not Peanuts) My food is so tasty, especially after my daily 22 hour fasting period. Of course, I have my obligatory 1 large glass of cold shiraz also ; ) So, in a nutshell (no pun intended ; ) My protein intake is high, (in my one daily meal) my fats are normal, meaning, I only consume fats in my cooked food and in my dessert. And my low carbs are consumed in the form of vegetables. No pasta, rice, potatoes....very rarely anyway. About every couple of weeks I'll cook up a chicken and eggs chow mein which contains wholemeal noodles. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it ; ) Hope this helps in some small way. You actually convinced me to change my diet. I have insulin resistance (diagnosed in 2011) and I've been on metformine-based medicines ever since. The doses got higher and higher (currently it's 2350 mg per day!), I weight more or less the same; even when I was exercising 4-5 days per week it didn't move much. I apply the diet for diabetics (low IG and low carb with, admittedly, occasional sins). It all just doesn't work. On top of that, I've got Hashimoto's and PCOS. It's exhausting. It's time to try something different. Thank you.
The biggest revelation, for us, in this particular video, begins at around 26:58 , with the effect of ketones on INSULIN-RESISTANT BRAINS. That knowledge COULD eliminate so much misery and frustration, for so many millions of people.

Yes keto/ low carb done well will keep skin disorders at bay. I think thats what Dr Paul Saladino had. And that's what started his journey. check one of his latest talks.
I have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis… Everything that I have learned points to keep in saturated fat intake pretty much as low as possible. In the end we have micro-capillary damage. Thus be very sure to take your antioxidants, and eat in a way that reduces inflammation (cytokines/ROS, etc) in the blood stream. IF overweight...lose it via healthy balanced diet including nutritious, cooked green veggies and lower fat protein. No sugar, smoking, alcohol, highway pollution etc...
Now This has to be one of the Most Informative, Easy to understand and interesting vidclips out there ( So are All your Others ) ..... Just Trying to find Any GP in our 'area / City' that is willing to even talk about this subject, that is Virtually Impossible .... Sadly. Vegan doctors should learn from you,, I came across video where vegan doctor was saying that insulin resistance is caused by high fat diet. And ofcourse all animals food is bad.
I consume garlic daily to keep UTI's at bay. If I don't consume any within 3 days I'm getting the niggling symptoms and so if I eat some garlic almost immediately the symptoms disappear x
PS. I was prescribed the antibiotic 'Alprim' for a UTI which immediately was poisoning my liver. I was 9 days bed ridden then went to emergency and was admitted in hospital for a further 5 days. Not long after that I got bladder cancer which was treated with tuberculosis a side effect being UTI's

Ususpect i have metabolic syndrome and have been told im prediabetic. i also have gut issues and fibromyalgia and arthritis..i realise that all are related. so im off to start to learn to become keto healthy. i wonder if seed oils are bad..is animal fat.."Lard" bad too> i read somewhere that its not as bad for us as was once believed.
Regarding Australian guidelines for salt intake, upper limit (UL). It's true that "Nutrient Reference Values for Australia and New Zealand" (Sept. 2017) (www.nhmrc.gov.au/about-us/publications/nutrient-reference-values-australia-and-new-zealand-including-recommended-dietary-intakes) now say the UL is "not determined". But it's not because they think increased sale intake is not a problem. They still say, "The evidence for the sodium-blood pressure relationship continues to support the current public health activities aimed at reducing sodium intake in the population." (P. 210) The reason given for a "not determined" UL is (p. 209): "For the review of the UL [Upper level of intake], an analysis of data (currently available between 1200 and 3300mg) failed to determine an identifiable point at which the relationship between higher sodium intakes and higher blood pressure did not occur. This means that increased sodium intake was associated with increased blood pressure at all measured levels of intake. Thus, the UL was revised from the 2006 UL of 2,300 mg/day to ‘not determined’ reflecting the inability to identify a single point below which there is low risk." My understanding of that is, "the more sodium you consume, the higher your blood pressure will be." Not saying I agree with their concern, but I don't think it is correct to say that UL "not determined" means Dr Mason can correctly say (at 51:52), " The Australian Dietary Guidelines removed any upper limit for sodium intake for individuals. That means that I can now tell you to have as much salt as you would like and not be in contravention of the Australian Dietary Guidelines." He's probably correct to say "you [can] have as much salt as you would like", but it would still be against the guidelines.
Dr. Mason what about people who are underweight and physically active? They say to consume more calories. Is it safe for underweight people to consume more carbs?
By what gauge are you underweight? A safe amount of carbohydrates is that which doesn't push you into insulin resistance. This is where a CGM or dual blood glucose / ketone meter can come in handy.
Any suggestion for a person who has an issue with her hair thinning? My Italian wife sheds more hair than a shaggy dog and worries she's going to have a bald spot in the back of her head. I hear about this a dozen tomes during the week. Thanks.

My guess is that whole sardines is the way to go. Fresh frozen salmon as well. Doc is right, tho. TMAO is created in gut from meat: fish, beef, chicken, etc. TMAO is no friend to arterial health. Don’t overdo meat or fats.

0:00. This is inaccurate. It takes only three percent of the calories in fat to store it as fat. For carbohydrates, it takes about 30% of the calories to store. Hope this helps
at the start of my keto diet i went quite cold turkey, without electrolytes and way too ham on protein... and it caused headache (probably from dehydratation) and savere kidney pain that went away after taking a few grams of baking soda (which i didnt know would help)... a lot of these guides on how to go keto/carnivore dont really talk about how to start (and they often overlook how important electrolytes are)... and the importance of not going into it like a retard :D without any praparation

I went from pre diabetic 42 to healthy 32 in just six weeks. It can be done my blood pressure went back to normal and palpitations stopped too....
Keto is a treatment but actually it ends up making the problem worse. Check out the Swank diet, that guy was onto something.

PS. I was prescribed the antibiotic 'Alprim' for a UTI which immediately was poisoning my liver. I was 9 days bed ridden then went to emergency and was admitted in hospital for a further 5 days. Not long after that I got bladder cancer which was treated with tuberculosis a side effect being UTI's

Regarding Australian guidelines for salt intake, upper limit (UL). It's true that "Nutrient Reference Values for Australia and New Zealand" (Sept. 2017) (www.nhmrc.gov.au/about-us/publications/nutrient-reference-values-australia-and-new-zealand-including-recommended-dietary-intakes) now say the UL is "not determined". But it's not because they think increased sale intake is not a problem. They still say, "The evidence for the sodium-blood pressure relationship continues to support the current public health activities aimed at reducing sodium intake in the population." (P. 210)
The reason given for a "not determined" UL is (p. 209): "For the review of the UL [Upper level of intake], an analysis of data (currently available between 1200 and 3300mg) failed to determine an identifiable point at which the relationship between higher sodium intakes and higher blood pressure did not occur. This means that increased sodium intake was associated with increased blood pressure at all measured levels of intake. Thus, the UL was revised from the 2006 UL of 2,300 mg/day to ‘not determined’ reflecting the inability to identify a single point below which there is low risk."
My understanding of that is, "the more sodium you consume, the higher your blood pressure will be."
Not saying I agree with their concern, but I don't think it is correct to say that UL "not determined" means Dr Mason can correctly say (at 51:52), " The Australian Dietary Guidelines removed any upper limit for sodium intake for individuals. That means that I can now tell you to have as much salt as you would like and not be in contravention of the Australian Dietary Guidelines."
He's probably correct to say "you [can] have as much salt as you would like", but it would still be against the guidelines.
I think it depends on many factors, including potassium intake/levels...
Dr. Mason what about people who are underweight and physically active? They say to consume more calories. Is it safe for underweight people to consume more carbs?
If I want to gain weight, I would eat more protein.
By what gauge are you underweight? A safe amount of carbohydrates is that which doesn't push you into insulin resistance. This is where a CGM or dual blood glucose / ketone meter can come in handy.
YES! Eat more of everything - get your bmi to a healthy range. AVOID SUGAR, flours, seed oils... eat cooked veggies/greens : )

what about wild sardine or salmon from can in supermarket that stay there for 4-5months. Is the fat oxidize too? Should i buy my fish frozen then?
My guess is that whole sardines is the way to go. Fresh frozen salmon as well.
Doc is right, tho. TMAO is created in gut from meat: fish, beef, chicken, etc. TMAO is no friend to arterial health. Don’t overdo meat or fats.

0:00. This is inaccurate. It takes only three percent of the calories in fat to store it as fat. For carbohydrates, it takes about 30% of the calories to store. Hope this helps

at the start of my keto diet i went quite cold turkey, without electrolytes and way too ham on protein... and it caused headache (probably from dehydratation) and savere kidney pain that went away after taking a few grams of baking soda (which i didnt know would help)... a lot of these guides on how to go keto/carnivore dont really talk about how to start (and they often overlook how important electrolytes are)... and the importance of not going into it like a retard :D without any praparation
