What a fantastic telescope! This is why I love this channel, I have a Bresser 127L with hex focuser, I love it, with a Baader contrast booster it has practically no CA. I also have a 12 inch dob which is awesome but I use the 127 more I should also mention I have a Vixen 90M which is another amazing achro.
@@ScrapYardDog64 I appreciate your comment and you watching my channel and you liking it I’m gonna try for next week this long I start acro against the meade f9.3 acro If the weather clears up
@@janomacko5764 it is very long, which I think is probably a downfall for a lot of people now as I said I probably these days would pay more and get a scope that’s half to size if it was ED but it did put up a pretty nice image
Wow fantastic comparison. Sweet to see that the older folks had those good views. Perhaps an acro (maybe not that long😅) could give good results with a fringe killer? Had the choce between a C8 and a Televue 127is (second hand), price wise i had to go with the C8. I never owned a refractor
@@atiladudus3168 thanks for watching. There’s nothing wrong with the 8 inch SCT. I had one for a very long time. It is perfect for large and extremely portable for its size One day in the future, if you could ever own a nice refractor, I’m not sure I would say get one this long but if you can, I would recommend it
Interesting. I have a question for you, when you look at a planet with the 140 mm Askar APO vs the 126 mm WO APO, at the same magnification do you see more details with the bigger refractor ? Or are the details the same and just the brightness is higher ? Thank you :)
@@Hanejejrjxn it’s a little bit brighter in the 140 but on Saturn I didn’t see anything different Now I know since then when I’ve done other comparisons, and I looked at other telescopes where there was no difference on Saturn when I went to Jupiter, there was a difference So I’m gonna do a part two to this one and I guarantee that I’m Jupiter I’ll probably see a difference But I do like the focus of the 140 I think it’s much better and even though it’s bigger, it’s more portable
Nice comparison. Joe did you ever own the Skywatcher Evostar 90/900 achromat? If yes, what do you think about it and it's optical performance? I ordered one today, the OTA with 2 eyepieces finder and diagonal was just 200 usd so I thought it would be a nice upgrade to the 70/700 mm achromat I use now :)
@@Hitzaponylife actually in an upcoming video I am boring a sky watcher 90 mm times 900 mm focal length so that’s pretty much the exact one you’re talking about however it’s not called evostar F10 get you a nice balance not too big but nice performance and it’s not too heavy so I would say it’s a good all around scope
@ Can't wait to see the video :). Regarding the name, maybe the one you will get is an older model or so. On all sites I looked the 90/900 mm Skywatcher achromat is called Evostar. Anyway I think it's the same model. Maybe you can test it on Saturn or Jupiter against the more expensive but smaller Skywatcher 80 ED :)
@@JoeJaguar Length can be an issue but it is also a benefit. The longer the F ratio the easier it is to make the optics and more chance they will be good. Also its good for magnification. @@JoeJaguar Yes it does. My 150ED was heavier than my 150 achro and ended up being too much for my mount. Now a have a new idea to how to cost effectively own a Refractor. I wonder how a high-end 5" frac would perform against a C8.
