People like the Tamer because it helps a lot during story and early endgame. People aren't going to have all the materials to invest heavily into endgame weapons right away. So for those watching this video thinking they made a mistake investing some into your Tamer, don't sweat it. You're perfectly fine. This game is a marathon not a sprint.
Very well said as Someone who has put 22+k hours into the Destiny franchise. This game is very much so a marathon not sprint aka meant to be played for years and years not 3 months.
Agreed, tamer is good because of the zero entry cost in materials for ok-ish performance... obviously when you can do massive investments into other weapons with better secondary stats it will fall off.. This content creator is just going hyperbole to get views and clicks.

This is literally irrelevant because you get the Thunder Cage before you can even get the Tamer and the TC is probably the best all-around gun, can be used in every type of content and is much better than the Tamer
@@Haybai35 Thunder Cage shines in mobbing. Tamer right out the gate is amazing for early game colossus fights, which is what people use the Tamer mostly for anyway. Obviously when you can invest highly into other weapons the Tamer will fall off. Keep in mind you need MR 15 for Enduring Legacy, which you won't have right away. Eternal Willpower needs some decent investment to start doing crazy damage and now people are using Greg, which just recently became a thing because of the buff it got. If you're using Thunder Cage for colossus fights, well you do you. I'm not sitting here saying you should fully invest into the Tamer, but if you want to put an activator and 1 or 2 catalysts on it to get through the story and early endgame, then that is completely fine.
Each gun has a meta, tamer is all attack, you put Mental Focus, Action Reaction and Rifle focus to get huge attack, then when you slap an elemetal status effect, you get 30% of that massive attack as an element, then finish with fire rate and mag size and you will smack. You dont need to build every single gun as crit and weakpoint. Play to the guns strengths
I think its because the item needed to unlock a weapons capacity and start building it can be very rare to find. At such a low rate it makes investing in a weapon a daunting task as it could take forever to find another activator. I think some people just like confusing people on how to make a choice.

@@linzaaa306Because the enduring legacy grind is a long one and difficult and a lot of people don’t have the time to sit down and grind it out because they have jobs. The tamer can be acquired as a drop from missions so it’s easier to acquire and is a great dps weapon for bossing.
Very true. I find Blue Mane to be a bit better in my opinion because it seems more accurate and I'm reloading less often. Same build, just different gun. In testing I saw that since Blue Mane has more rounds on target, 'cause accuracy' , I could actually get more damage in before reload. Even if Tamer has more DPS it's kinda useless since Tamer is the most inaccurate MG we have right now. The faster fire rate only exaggerates this difference.
Tamer is the ignis wraith equivalent of warframe, it's good for new guys and ofc there's better weapons but it's definitely not sucks as you said

I never could understand the appeal of Ignis Wraith. Sure it can reach out and touch enemies every easily but it sux in harder content. Just give me any beam that bounces, slap on punch through and double dip in damaging enemies if they are in a line. Slap on Sinister Reach and boom you get Ignis range... Well not really but that doesnt matter.
Tamer problem is it doesnt register every 2nd bullet. Also does anybody knows why Thundercage gets 22% crit chance(no mods) out of the ass? Does everything Bunny related has to be BIS, or will we see Thundercage become trashmob clear onyly in the future becouse koreans will decide 22% crit chance flat out of the ass was a bug?
The reason why content creators choose tamer its because its easy to get in the game. It also has the highest dps than many weapons that drop. After they acquire enduring legacy they drop the tamer. Also there is something he forgot to mention in the video. In order to use every module slot you will need to reset the weapon many times and farm energy activators for every slot. Not to mention grind and farm millions of kupier shards to max out the modules to max. You will need to put in that work to get this type of payoff. The second thing is he talks about the module concentration priority. Notice you cant take the same module and slap it in another weapon. That module comes in 4 ammo types. Which means you will need to farm another million of kupier shards to max them all general, special, impact, and high round ammo.
There’s more reasons to pick Enduring Legacy than just gun DPS stats, let’s not forget that gold reactors will give your reactor scaling a 20% high buff than a purple reactor’s 40% equip bonus. Also worth mentioning, the Enduring Legacy doesnt slow you down nearly as much as the Tamer does when aiming/firing the weapon, also making it harder for enemies to hit you.
I’ve told my friends that Tamer is a good starting gun for hard mode, but they need to find a good legendary weapon to grind out to replace it. I will be sending them this video in hopes that it can explain to them how much of a difference it does make. Great video!
The Enduring Legacy should slow you down the same as Tamer since both are LMG's.
Ive noticed each weapon has its own movement speed stats, they’re not entirely based on weapon classification. Swapping from a Tamer to the Enduring Legacy is noticeable, and considering all the other benefits of the EL vs Tamer, it’s honestly a no-brainer as to which gun is better, the movement increase is just the icing on the cake at that point.
@@nuke2099 they do in fact have separate values. EL does slow you down compared to other platforms, however it is quicker than the tamer.
But then you have to remember to have that ultimate weapon in your hands whenever you cast a skill
@@LordTonzillaJust need the right gun and reactor. Apart from things like picking up ammo or some cheese builds you will be on your main weapon all the time anyways.
Wether or not its THE BEST GUN doesn't matter the tamer is a beast. use it till you've got the materials for enduring legacy or if you prefer ARs use eternal willpower
Tamer is very sucessful because it's very simple to obtain and have absolutly no recoil. Enduring legacy needs 10% drop rate material on hard mode colossus
This is a grinding game. There is zero endgame. You're here to grind stuff, so grind the Enduring Legacy.

@@jhensencasper thats what you heard bro. Just put mods for weapon damage and weapon crit damage. Mine is up for 220% crit damage and up to 92% weapon damage, then add the real life fighter mod, that Allows your weapon to get 100% more damage with 10 stacks of weakpoint damage per 5 seconds. Just careful, when you dont hit weakspots, you lose 2 stacks. Add some elemental damage of the weakness of the Boss, and there you go, tons and tons of damage.
Also, try to god roll it, crit damage, chance, Colossus damage and ATK dmg with orange ones. There are some mods that you can add to reduce reload time, or even precision or recoil, that adds 6,5 crit dmg too, but thats up to you.
@@thenightingale7405you can use Tamer while ranking to mastery 15. Tamer is fine as a starter weapon.
The 3 guns mentioned are all good options, Enduring Legacy is definitely a great weapon to chase AFTER you've built your Tamer. Anyone with common sense knows that the Tamer is not end all be all, but I'm able to solo all the Hard Collosi boss fights because of the Tamer, so meh, take this video with a grain of salt.
Also, the drop rates for anything in this game are atill horrendous, and I refuse to farm for the Ultimate weapons mentioned. Once the drop rates are better, I might put my Tamer down.

First and Foremost this gun is expensive to build. So far I've pumped 7 Catalysts into it, and I'm planning on using 2 more. So just keep this in mind.
With that being said, here is the current build...

Better Insight - Max
Action and Reaction - Max
Consume Magazine - Max
Weak Point Sight - Max
Fire Rate Up - Max
Better Concentration - Max
Mental Focus - Max
Commando Marksmanship - Max
So some crit is better then no crit. At max you'll have close to 16% crit chance, with a 3.34x crit multiplier on a 100 round clip, that you can reload in under 2 seconds. Currently my weak point damage multiplier is 1.37x and will go up to almost 1.6x once I add the Weak Point Detection mod. Then mental Focus gives you 1% firearm atk damage up that stacks up to 150x. Unfortunately that's 50 stacks you don't have access to because of the clip size. But whatever, it's ok.
As for gear rolls, I have crit chance/damage, weak point, and firearm atk all gold rolls, and basically max.

The tamer is a good weapon.
It's not the end all be all, but with what's available, as well as considering the drop rates, this gun is the best weapon in the game.

I would say with 7 catalysts you can make almost any gun pop. But yes i like my tamer because of it's high raw damage.
Just a heads up mental focus resets on reload so it doesn't matter how quick your reload is, might want to edit that real quick for correct info
I like how you are presenting them and talking about them like they are gourmet food dishes.
Even if your reload is faster than 2 seconds, the buff from mental focus is lost on reload. Says so in the description. You can keep it forever if u use Gley though.

I've been grinding for Enduring Legacy for 3 days now, only got one of the blue prints. Was about to cry when I got it 😂 the grind is real.

@@Trueromancee he its not wrong.. When everyone was starting to do Hard bosses Devourer was hard because people with weapon like EW that couldn't kill the shield barrel that heal the boss. Tamer or High magazine weapon where better for the duty. I was one of the people recommending Tamer to my friend even before RUclipsrs started to hype it out. But i never put a Catalyst or a Energy reactor because i knew it was only good as a step for better weapon that scale better with mods. Tamer has shit stat after all..
Same with EW but when i recommend it to people they always said that it recoil its trash. And they didn't like it for that.
Yes tamer is easy to get and lazy to use. Its serviceable until you get more upgrade mats for better ones.
Finally, someone with common sense in the comments like we get it man Tamer is not the best weapon in the game but is not a bad weapon to start with you can literally sh1t on any content in the game with Tamer or EW like literally dump a massive load on the game's content. People are just arguing for no reason lol
The first tamer I found was a 46k dps at level 46 and I had weapons in the 50s being completely outclassed by the tamer...not to mention I had a ton of phase exchangers that I hadnt used any of till I found that weapon...it was out classing even my ultimate weapons and I know ultimate doesnt mean itll be the best but it should at least of been somewhat up there with it

Get yourself a Tamer until you open hard mode.
It's cheap and effective.
After you open hard mode, then think about it.
If you like to use Bunny, get a solid hand gun because most of your dmg comes from skills. You want to shoot while running.

I have a fully upgraded tamer and haven't regretted it, literally carried me through every boss fight, and honestly you don't even need to use meta, run any gun you like because the content is so easy that you probably won't even notice the difference between two fully upgraded guns with a few exceptions though

I've always thought something that unfortunately doesn't show up on spreadsheets is feeling. I fell onto the tamer day 2 when I hit hard mode because it had enough ammo to kill multiple targets without reloading, even with low mod investment.
Willpower has 1.9 sec reload for 25 bullets, and Tamer has 30% more reload time for 200-300% more magazine capacity. The damage numbers may even out when you're adding all the crit/weakpoint/etc, but the feeling doesn't (at least for me).
As for Colossi: Am I hitting weak point every single bullet? No. Am I hitting the colossus every bullet? Yes. Having to think about "oh I should stop my burst so I can recenter on the tiny diamond in the boss's chest" is a lot more annoying than "release left click if you start seeing Immune"
I still use the Tamer almost exclusively because it can clear a full Infiltration worth of mobs in a magazine and still have enough to kill (or phase) the boss. With the way mobs work in this game (rushing in packs) time spent reloading is time spent taking damage. Why run and time your reloads when you can just kill all the enemies and then reload while they're respawning?
It's normal to miss some weak point hit but fyi colossus gain frenzy energy faster if you do not weak point dmg so you should always at least try to hit weak points
The only reason i use the tamer is because it barely has any recoil, large magazine size and I like to use it with the mental focus damge mod.

Tamer is fine for non ultimate weapon, ive built mine up to over 500k dps, next best (thunder) ult is barely 300. Build the gun to its strengths. Tamer is not a crit gun. Its about putting lots of ammo down stream nonstop.
actually the numbers on DPS are accurate enough but stuff like weak point or elemental damage is called unreliable damage which implies the dmg is different based on what it hits so you simply need to calculate these urself but true i do admit they should include this dps increase somewhere on the side somewhere.
but yes he is completely right about tamer since the critical damage in this game is king and tamer fails hard at it sadly.
i recommend going weak point dmg on tamer instead of crit and going for a single element and use tamer for the bosses weak to that element specifically only which i recommend to use chill but this is my opinion.
mental focus is always gonna be the best unreliable DPS for machine guns as the dmg lasts long if u go for extended mags and i doubt every1 is perfect on weakpoints so this is a perfect setup for those who have a harder time hitting them.
Tamer is viable for crit build if you mostly main Enzo. Enzo can rack it up to 76% Crit Rate if ur tamer is somewhere near 20% crit rate which includes substat and modifiers to begin with.
@nexokami the 59%crit is enough on Enzo, tbf. You would do better attacking higher crit damage, then WP damage, instead of investing so hard into crit rate. Tamer is accurate enough and has low enough recoil to reliably score WP hits. Roll for crit damage, WP damage, mag size, and firearm atk.

@@TGNScout he actually doesn't. Because the highest DPS in game is only barely a mil. And that's been proven fact by another RUclipsr already that does the math. There's absolutely no gun in the game that's pushing 2 million DPS. That's just a flat out lie.

Reloading resets 'Mental Focus' always, it even says so right on it. Does not matter how fast your reload.
Im still using Eternal Willpower because it matches my Ultimate Bunny suit 😂

Watched the video then dropped my tamer and got my Thunder Cage tunned to go farm my first hard mode dg. The DPS shown was surprisingly very low but I used it anyway.
And guys, I can confirm, the Tamer is better than the Thunder Cage in any possible way. More bullets, each bullet hit more, things die much faster and the farm is much easier with the tamer.
Maybe if I farm a lot of stuff it will change, but if you just got to the hard mode KEEP YOUR TAMER. Oh, And the Thunder Cage has more modules bc it have 2 slots vs zero from tamer.
Glad im a gley main. I never have to worry about ammo and reloading. I just hit z and v then i just go brrrrrrrrrrttt until everything is dead

Thundercage is terrible at range on a boss. Tamer stays on the boss for the whole clip at range.
Well, cage keeps you mobile and out of harms way. Tamer makes you an easy target.
The game sucks on console with the super wide deadzone, its make it near impossible to control this weapon
@@delacroixii But you need to be close with Cage the drop off is insane, it’s not noob friendly at all for bosses. Most people rocking these weapons have not completed the game yet and while the cage is amazing for trash being able to unload a full clip with Tamer from distance is definitely more noob friendly than cage on a boss.

Eternal willpower is surprisingly good, I'd say it's better than the tamer for most content. Also being able to move faster helps with survival

You don't have a choice to use the Enduring Legacy. You have a full three days of painful grinding.
Here's a little fact some bosses have crit damage reduction
And if that was a problem, we'd make sure to have a special rounds weapon with the crit resistance reduction debuff mod.
Side note that's not being said is you must reach Mastercraft level 15 in order to research the lmg
I been lurking your videos from the side lines for a while now since your ultimate bunny video and man it has helped me a lot I just started this game a week ago and this week makes it almost 2 weeks and a half now your videos have helped me tremendously as I was so lost in all the sauce videos being posted. I was struggling on how and what mods to put on my guns besides the general known ones and this REALLY helped subbing.
I created a Tamer with heavy focus on nature damage and the result was outstanding as nature damage will be around 80% of your MAIN WEAPON total damage at the end of the game. The best part is that it only cost 2 mods or 3 if you want to add the gold mod.
It was brutal as it was like shooting with 2 weapons simultaneously.
I'm now trying a Tamer with the highest critical damage build

Tamer is fantastic in early progression, but falls off quickly due to its low crit chance.
If you invest more you can bring it back by having enough CC to be worth modding CC but if you dont like that you can go a pure dmg and weakpoint build thats only a tiny bit lower dmg overall

@@Cod__Fish - The only way to get enough CC is in having an Enzo... Well, until they fix Enzo's box. There is no way that box is suppose to give base crit. With an Enzo box, Tamer's base crit is 39% making it competitive. If someone invested in Tamer, I would recommend just making sure to have an Enzo while farming something better.

The Tamer is a pretty solid weapon tbh. Didn’t realize it was meta until I saw everyone on RUclips using it. There are better options as there is for every weapon but for what it can do I was still managing normal and hard without a hassle until I got enduring legacy.

Currently sitting around level 60 on my guns and build, absolutely keeping this video for when I'm at the point where my rolls and builds matter. Nice one.
I use thunder cage and the tamer together on Ajax and Valby both, works amazing. I even rotate out whatever heavy ammo gun the situation requires and i can always shred when tamers out and i need a reload i just switch to thunder keep melting til i have a window. Ive only just beat the devourer but i know the tamer is not going to be the best dps weapon you can build, its just a really good barebones across the board dps dealer

This is a solid gun all round, it shreds on my Lepic melts elites in seconds on hard! Still a viable gun
What about Blue Blood Bloom SMG and Python?
I ran the numbers for those guns for my Gley and they aren't impressive.
The high RPM makes Massacre's skill damage do more DPS but the guns themselves just aren't as good so it ends up being a net loss.
Python should be used on Valby/Enzo for flat crit buffs to make it much stronger.

Tamer has the second highest ATK to eternal willpower and can be built up to 170+rounds in mag. Crit and weakpoint on it are low, but you can ramp up elemental damage to do about 60% per shot so I'd say elemental is much better on it than crit or weak point. Enduring legacy is the goal for sure, but it's hard to farm. Tamer can carry you to it. Thunder Cage and Eternal willpower are also good choices tho... I don't think the Tamer slander was necessary lol
People complain about bad and unoriginal youtube creators regurgitating bad builds and setups. Then finally someone makes a good video and look at this comment section and dislike ratio, you clowns deserve these bad youtubers, stay free and keep being a tamer gamer high on copium.

Very good points. You've convinced me to move towards Enduring Legacy. The modules are what is really holding me back. Thank you for the gun builds, they apply to most everything.
I quite like LMGs in general. Are there amy other LMGs that can perform better than the tamer? Or is it just the tamer and the enduring legacy? And how long does it take to farm 5 enduring legacies?

More people need to get that thing and the whole community will suffer less on hard mode bosses imo.
The thing with the tamer is it's super easy to get, and as crit mods don't really matter you can build it with one or two catalyst and you can already play the hardmode bosses.
Also the crit damage buff on general rounds is so high because the crit rate of other classes is so much higher. On average you get about the same damage boost if one pair of crit rate + crit damage is all you put on.
In the real endgame the Tamer needs some help in it's crit rate from Valby or Enzo for example. When you put it on 30% or above 50% crit rate it suddenly becomes a monster again.
But overall the point is valid, it's base crit rate is not really worth maxing it out if you can't support it.
People say that Tamer is stronger than EL is delusional. They are simply unable to admit their own foolish act of fully upgrading Tamer.

Tamer is great for what it is. Easily obtainable weapon that can get you through all the content in the game. There are plenty of better options.
Makes sense, I doubt many of the purple weapons will outclass the gold ones.
For anyone who still wants to have a debate about the enduring Legacy vs Tamer- I have both maxed out with full sockets and modules and have tried 3 various builds on both (crit, weak point, mix of both) and the Enduring Legacy absolutely dogwalks the Tamer in damage in every test I have done. We are talking taking literal minutes off of Hard mode Collosus and I have not upgraded the enduring Legacies passive. The only gun that actually came close was my maxed out Eternal Willpower. But even with that you still lose out on 11 seconds worth of DPS PER ENDURING LEGACY MAG with full build. That's over 5 million less damage

The Tamer is not bad at all. It's a really good weapon with consistently high dps with little to no investment required, especially if you use it with a firearm enhancement Enzo. If you have enough hours in the game you'll eventually build something better that's full of catalysts, but that could take weeks and some people don't have that kind of time which is where the Tamer steps in

What he is not taking into account is practical dps where you might not get the ammo drops you need during a colossi fight.
Of course the case is different when you have min-maxed like he has and most likely kill the hard colossi solo.
Then he is fighting a colossus that is much weaker than the one you fight when being in a full party.
For players that are not no-lifers and not able/willing to spend lots of real money to min-max, the Tamer is still by far one of the best weapons they can use in this game.
Of course if you are a no-lifer or a whale, then there are multiple options that are better to much better then the Tamer.
If you want to nuke hard colossi solo and is a no-lifer or a whale, then you should get ultimate Gley and go with a launcher build and forget about any of the weapons he talked about.

Due to the way general rounds crit mods are, to me it's just a support weapon.
I've ran the numbers on Python for my Gley when I was trying to perfectly min/max my massacre DPS and Python just doesn't keep up.
It's mandatory for Python to be used on Valby and/or Enzo to benefit from flat crit buffs if we wanted to turn it into a competitive DPS weapon.
Also if we tuned Python for Toxic ATK, and it's naturally a weak point gun, the worst part about elemental damage is that it doesn't scale with weak point hits.
It's unfortunate.

Im fine with my tamer so far, 2 more catalyst and it will be fully built. Thunder and Legacy are fully built. Eternal willpower have so much recoil and you need to invest a recoil mod in it so its a waste of slot imo. We all know Thunder cage is beast and Enduring legacy like for over 2 weeks now.
If "everyone" knew, they wouldn't be using tamers or bringing them up in Twitch chat but here we are.
Recoil is a skill issue. No one needs to waste a mod on recoil reduction. Learn to pull down when you shoot.
Math shows that Tamer is a waste of resources compared to other options but you go right ahead and spend those however you like. 👍

@@SOLIDFPS like i said before why use a gun with recoil when there is a gun without one that do the same stuff. Also contolling recoil on m&k and controller is not the same even tho this game has crazy aim assist that like aimbot on controller.

meh tamer is still good enough for me tho. I can hit 4x crit dmg on tamer and a 50% crit rate with valby. Its good enough to clear all content.
A lot of guns are "good enough" with investment but I bet you'd love that Enduring Legacy, at least 50% more (heh), when you get it as juiced as your Tamer might be right now.

@@SOLIDFPS If it was easier to get Enduring Legacy and fully limitbreak it more people would use it. Tamer is just stronger at the start even without investment. That's why its used. Its not the best but its better until you can get better. Python is also a good option for a SMG.
@@nuke2099 Tamer will get through bosses alright, but it will slow you down so can make it harder to dodge / maneuver + it can be very inaccurate. The biggest problem for tamer is to hit like bosses Cell Capsules you know those that you have to break or anything to do w some kind of mech. You have to get incredibly close and even then can be pain in the ass. If I had to start off as starter once again I would probably recommend Eternal WIllpower since it's easy to get as the Tamer and if you want you can add mods to fix the issue like Mag size, 1 recoil mod. Not a big deal you will have the dmg and the movement.

Then do testing against four bosses to prove that the numbers are correct, and then spawn the most common mobs/elites that everyone would be clearing to the boss, but they won't be moving and shooting back at you. That way you can show that both in gameplay when you have to evade, or spawned the toughest elites/mobs in the testing area, the dps remains the same for all Characters no matter their builds.
I started using the tamer as a fluke prior to YT popularity. It's a really good weapon. Nothing to be upset about for using it.

Of course they have to scale the crit dmg multis when the base damage is so much higher on for example snipers. That doesn't mean that general rounds weapons are in any way stronger, just more easilly accessed. A well built sniper can 1-shot bosses.
Supply firearm enhancement (Enzo mod) easy 60-70% crit chance for tamer. It’s actually very good with that

maybe stacked out with a billion mods other guns can overtake tamer,
but for people who havent spent a thousand hours or a load of cash to get all of those crystal catalysts and kuiper shards Tamer is usually the best.
you can stick a few firearm ATK mods like reinforced rifling on Tamer with a fire rate increase and it will do better than any other similarly equipped weapon.
You can beat tamer within 50hrs total playtime and if you push it, maybe 30hrs...not sure why it would take you so long.

So DPS meters are also pretty much the same and they almost never take into account things that you have to do like shoot a week point they are giving you the lowest common denominator are you’re just shooting the body anywhere so critical can be figured into that we cannot because they don’t know if you’re gonna shoot a week point

Ryechew has a data sheet for ranking all the weapons. Yes tamer isn't the best but if you are still farming the mats for the ultimate weapons, tamer is a good budget weapon to use. Tamer is still one of the best General round weapons, but i agree there are WAY better weapons to use. Ryechew also proves dps in game is wrong depending on your frame rate and other unknown factors.
Would love too see a beam rifle playstyle and mod setup. I haven't messed around with them because the recoil is wild. So out of all the weapon types im clueless on how to build them.
TC is free, they give you two. Not hard to get the others took me an hour and for ad clear there is nothing better in the game. The explosion goes to 100% chance on fully upgraded. Massively insane weapon

Very solid video. I was going to do an enzo 100% crit rate 150 round tamer build (you can't reload or you lose the buff) but can't get the vaults to drop so i've been looking at other options. Time to grind up another purple gun while working through hard mode 😅
