My 2nd favourite track. Nice to see it back up and running for us enthusiasts. Prefer the Tru Blu days but liked the JPS cars too.

The JPS BMW's were the best EVER looking touring cars. I loved the M3, but the JPS635i was an all time classic

Richo was at his best, but Dick definitely showed the future when he brained them in the Sierra Cosworth before the inevitable turbo failure.

Great race, thanks for posting. Little BMW with only 2.3l 4cyl naturally aspirated up against 420hp V8's and turbos, and still won. Long live the E30 M3!

The chassis was just so well-sorted and it's easily the best looking car out there

you have near 500 BHP sierras with high ride height, no electronics and narrow tires , this is real racing

When they went to Mallala in South Australia in 1989, even though he won the race Dick Johnson complained long and loud that the track was too bumpy and the facilities were sub standard with comments like "We're trying to run a professional series and we get sent to a place like this". But in all reality, Mallala was no worse than Lakeside which most from outside of Qld who drove there described as a great little circuit, but also that it was a goat track stuck in the early 1970s with a very bumpy surface, shocking track verges and facilities that hadn't been upgraded since 1970. Of course, some cynics also noted that other than Bathurst, Johnson wouldn't admit to liking any track not located in Queensland.

Why aren't the tv breaks cut out from this edit? I wish they were all like this one! Love the channel

This circuit is great why was it dropped from atcc?

Pretty sure there were a number of reasons not least of all because Lakeside just couldn’t compete with Willowbank and it ended I think in 1998
The ATCC would be renamed to the Shell Championship Series in 1999 then the V8 Supercar Series I think in 2002 or 2003
