Also, I have Reading Company Blueprints of the Mahanoy Plane. So sometime this spring I'll hunt them up and post them. The tunnel was used for a narrow gauge railroad. Thanks for posting this video.
Hey buddy, I am one of the people that came over from JP's Channel. You have a lot of great content and this place is absolutely spectacular. Like you were saying imagine what it looked like when it was all there, the building could have been two three stories off of that Foundation, who knows. Definitely a beautiful sight though. And I like how you get into the small stuff, like the stone work and the coal ash, that gives us a much better perspective and feel over somebody he just runs through and shows the remnants. Very interesting place. I come here to explore allot ( its near my workplace). cant wait to see what you find down hill. The small rooms are coal bins for the massive boilers. A train track used to be on top of them and they unloaded them here. I think the boxcars were used to store the coal ashes. Judge Domilakes gave some tours here and knows about this place. His brother manages the park next to it. Check out the images on the web to see what it looked like about 100 years ago. There is a film called Black Sunlight which features the valley below and when this place was operating! I would have loved to work here. I was told someones relative worked here, lost his legs when a train car broke free from the Barney, and three months later returned to work!!! The American attitude was allot more progressive than today. Watch out for needles laying around! This is a popular "party spot" unfortunetly . The place is huge its like a big maze.. Imagine all the work n time it took to build it.. It cost a small fortune it build it today.. Enjoyed the video thanks
Just watched your first video on this Plane and googled it. I think that Castle looking structure might have been the main Steam Power Plant with huge stacks sticking up. I found a picture on line that showed it. So, the shoots might have been where ask came out from burning coal to generate steam? No clue.
I've never understood graffiti. I mean, if you want to create art, and some of it actually is, then make a giant board for yourself and go for it... I think it's a little bit more complicated than that though...
@@577buttfan Hi, my Daughter draws some awesome art on paper and never feels the need to grab a can of spray paint lol. I think the taggers do it to show rival big boy gangs that the area it's in is theirs or some such rubbish. x

I was wondering if you heard of or been to Kunkles mansion in Lewisberry right outside of Goldsboro. Kind of hard to find but is very eerie and and has a nice story behind it
Before engines, they also had mules, once up the inclined plane, the coal carts were then transferred by Canal systems to Port Carbon, which allowed access to the river that goes on to Hamburg and Reading.

I’ve been to that tunnel but more interesting down that same path there’s this red thing banging I had no clue what it was and I was by myself so I left. I pinged it on my maps and want to go back to it.
Sure looks ancient, like it belongs in England with the other castles. You should get a couple buddies to dress in period uniforms with cross bows and protecting all from the graffiti clan. Awesome find..enjoy history and what's left of it...just wish people would respect it and trash it. It must take a lot of effort to bring old appliances to places like this to dump them...and costly vs just paying your trash man to pick it up. Don't the people know what they are doing to the earth by leaving all this. There are landfills designated for trash so we can have beautiful places to explore and enjoy. No regard for others, lazy and no sense of responsibility for themselves. Thank you for listening to my venting.

Hey dude, I know exactly where you are. I would appreciate if you wouldn’t go into that building with the “scaffolding”. If you go there now, you will find lots of empty trail mix bags and stuff. That is ottisis place, the homeless gentle man who lives in Frackville. Please, please stay away from there please. Otherwise, loved the video! You know that Frackville softball field? Behind it is a bunch of coal mining stuff aswell. Please do not go into buildings with scaffolding and stuff, because ottis lives in all of them.
I played here my entire childhood.....lived in frackville till 1977

At the bottom of the plane, there is a shaft and some very cool rock structures past the railroad track at Railroad St.

There is a park on the northwest side of town off of High street. I parked by the fence. there is a trail that leads down to the ruins.

This could become a national historic site. It was one of the largest inclined planes in the world at the time.
