I moved to UT--he's been busy working with both parties trying to get real stuff done, unlike Mike Lee, who does little but blow hot air about how much he loves the constitution and then acts otherwise when an election doesn't go the way he wants.
Thank you, good point. Please try to get more senators that have been in Washington for some time, well beyond retirement age, to follow your lead also.
Got to agree with Romney. Biden should announce he would be willing to act as a senior advisor. Unfortunately it wouldn’t happen and God forbid Biden pulls a RBG and let Trump walk away with a win and democracy dies.
Andrew should run as an independent in 2024. The Democrat Party and major media misrepresented him. Major media presented him as John Yang, removed from Graphics, weren't willing to run a poll when only needed 1 more to get on debate stage. They do not deserve loyalty. Andrew began as an unknown outsider, outperformed the sitting vice president while being misrepresented., built a large following and have the name recognition now unlike the 2020 run. A No Labels Party with Yang as the Presidential choice would be a great alternative no matter who the Republican or Democrats put forward.
Now is not the time for voting for a third party. Vote blue for democracy or vote red for insanity, it’s that simple. I think we can not gamble with democracy!!
I'd happily vote for a third party if we had ranked choice / IRV. As is now though, it's just throwing away your vote while a literal fascist dictator gets into power because you split his only opposition.
The whole spoiler argument would completely vanish if only we had ranked choice voting. The only reason we don't have ranked choice voting because it would make it harder for those already in power to stay in power.
If voters are not loyal to any party, it forces politicians to offer better policies knowing they can loose your vote. Treat them like cars salesmen and go towards the one that serves your interest and not another voter's interests.
Sadly for Yang, far-East Asian descent Americans aren't going to be nominated. They won't be elected, and even for governors there has only even been three, Washington understandably and especially understandably Hawaii. His only option is to start his own party and be the head of it.
Eh, I'm also in favor of younger leaders, but I don't like the new narrative that older people are less important or their interests deserve to be less served.
The reality is that it takes decades for a third party to gain momentum, especially in a traditionally 2 party political system. But it would certainly keep the other two party leaders on their toes since voters wouldn't necessarily be voting by party lines.
Unfortunately, you’re probably right. The two party system has been so dominant for so long that it’s very unlikely anytime soon other parties will take off. Not to mention the electoral college makes it basically impossible for third parties to win
This is good thinking but we need to accommodate the fact of the spoiler effect. Two similar parties divided the vote, giving the election to the 3rd (last!) place fnisher. There are many examples. For instance without Perot, Clinton would have lost.
@@RYMAN1321 Votes show sufficient margin to turn the election, if you assume most Perot supporters were disaffected GOP. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1992_United_States_presidential_election
We need a 5 party system. Separate Democrats into liberal and progressive, split conservatives into conservative and maga then a labor party to really represent workers. The progressives and far right maga/tea party are the ones tearing our politics and society apart.
What I don’t understand is why the push for a third party now??! Biden is doing an excellent job for the American people. Yeah CNN why don’t you report that.. I mean you have taking in and continue to fail to report this but happy to report all the negative aspects from other people.. Biden has wisdom, knowledge and experience.. get a young buck in office who knows nothing about engagement, foreign policies shall I continue… I chose Biden’s knowledge and experience over any young buck… Biden’s will continue to have my vote💯….
My problem with independent, and this is just from interviews i've seen and people talking on the net, they're republicans but don't want the bad press of being called republicans. They all say, I voted republican though I've been independent all my life or I was a republican but now am a independent. And when asked who they voted for it was a republican. Am not sure at the % for this, it's just what I've seen.
Yang has (finally) internalized the fact that 3rd parties act as spoilers. What structural change can allow me ideas without a "no labels" style disaster? Ranked choice voting prevents the spoilage, but is perhaps discouraging to the newcomers -- you can influence but not win.
Why can't we have a Tiered Voting System for President? Then you could still vote for Biden but have alternatives as well. I think if Republicans had alternatives some of them would go that route as well.
I don't care what Yang has to say about anything. Ok, I grinned at his "Yang Gang" comment in 2019, but have not cared since. He is no more an authority on politics than I am.
The thing he fails to mention is yes, the 2 candidates would be old, but what you're really voting for is the entire administration, ie the people who really run things. Trump would install lunatics plain and simple.
For the good of the country, including the two (long established) hegemonic parties, I think what cries out is more than two (as a conservative I lean toward saying three) parties, but all and above all whatever the office, proffering candidates of competence and character, and maintaining discourse on issues rather than (invariably, inescapably, ad hominem) personalities. Definitely risk of another Trump must be avoided, prevented, and eliminated.

I moved to UT--he's been busy working with both parties trying to get real stuff done, unlike Mike Lee, who does little but blow hot air about how much he loves the constitution and then acts otherwise when an election doesn't go the way he wants.
His Republican opponents are in the single digits so he must be doing something right.
Thank you, good point. Please try to get more senators that have been in Washington for some time, well beyond retirement age, to follow your lead also.
I'd still vote for Yang for Prez., guy is a breath of fresh air.
Yang, you're not that part of the generation. College antics does not make you part of it.
Why judge Biden on his age? Why not his policies
Yes I will and want to be a new world leader for the CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM. (Lord willing) AMEN!!! 😇✅
I been saying this before Trump. All those old Dinos we do need a change though all 3 branches
Younger repubs in Congress are doing a crappy job.
It never works because you continue talking about the bad clown rapist guy continually
Anyone else but Andrew Yang
Nothing to say other than I agree with Romney totally
He won’t win, third parties can’t win due to the electoral college
Now is not the time for voting for a third party. Vote blue for democracy or vote red for insanity, it’s that simple. I think we can not gamble with democracy!!
I'd happily vote for a third party if we had ranked choice / IRV. As is now though, it's just throwing away your vote while a literal fascist dictator gets into power because you split his only opposition.
which is why getting RCV and Open Primaries in more states is the main focus of the Forward Party 🧢
#YangGang still here 😔
Sorry, but I can't stand the "new generation". I don't see what everyone else sees in them.
@KennuhWayne
You failed them is the older generation duty to make them respect traditional values, shame on you blaming the youth for you failures
@@CGplay186 Just like your grammar teacher failed you.
The whole spoiler argument would completely vanish if only we had ranked choice voting. The only reason we don't have ranked choice voting because it would make it harder for those already in power to stay in power.
💯💯💯💯
I’m a indigenous woman to Gia, I’ll run for PRESIDENT…
Finally !!! A candidate that understands what splitting the ticket means.
He's not a candidate.
I didn’t agree with Mitt Romney on many policies, but he’s not wrong about this.
However, we know these old rich people can’t let power go.
Who is this guy? What is his leadership resume? Beat it.
Cutting our own nose off to spite our face is crazy. Especially because of racism. It is sad. I would love Yang for president.
Please, not Yang. That'd be like a different flavour of Trump.
Agree
Romney is a standup politician.
Eh, I'm also in favor of younger leaders, but I don't like the new narrative that older people are less important or their interests deserve to be less served.
Ugh who cares what Andrew yang has to say
Yang should run as third party if the Dems refuse to replace Biden.
Love you Andrew. You care. And you're very intelligent. Thanks for everything Andrew!
WHY can't we have a decent president? It's just horrible. Both of them.
@@MarkKrebs Really?
I wasn’t born yet, but I thought Bush 41 was very unpopular by 1992 and his odds at winning again were already bad.
@@RYMAN1321 Votes show sufficient margin to turn the election, if you assume most Perot supporters were disaffected GOP. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1992_United_States_presidential_election
we all know they did NOT read that book.
I don't respect Yan.
I may become a Mormon if you can look like Mitt Romney in your late 70's...
The first republican that's said anything in a long time that makes sense!
We need a 5 party system. Separate Democrats into liberal and progressive, split conservatives into conservative and maga then a labor party to really represent workers. The progressives and far right maga/tea party are the ones tearing our politics and society apart.
Mitt Romney is too young to retire.
RS. Canada
Respect his honesty
Yang has (finally) internalized the fact that 3rd parties act as spoilers. What structural change can allow me ideas without a "no labels" style disaster? Ranked choice voting prevents the spoilage, but is perhaps discouraging to the newcomers -- you can influence but not win.
Yang2024
Why can't we have a Tiered Voting System for President? Then you could still vote for Biden but have alternatives as well. I think if Republicans had alternatives some of them would go that route as well.
Finally, somebody being honest about the geriatric folks running the government. I applaud. His decision
How about the young nutjobs running the country.
I don't care what Yang has to say about anything.
Ok, I grinned at his "Yang Gang" comment in 2019, but have not cared since.
He is no more an authority on politics than I am.
I agree with Romney on this 😌👌💯
Problem with Andrew yang is that his group is just another no labels type , lobbyist party.
What's wrong with this guy? We all know you can't say stuff like this about Democrats on Democrat funded media! Yang is making too much sense!
