“Nutbuster”
That sounds painful...
Ouch
I had one, but we got divorced 20 years ago.
At $175 the price is painful.
HAHAHA AWESOME SIR!!
The bustanuter was already taken.
Looks great and works good. $175 tho?? Dam. Lil pricey but I guess it’s worth it if you axe goes out of tune a lot. I was thinking more like $75. I was way off lol.
I was thinking $50 and would still think it's pricey but maybe worth it. For 175, I might just install a locking nut like the Floyds. Yeah, I know, the whole point is that this "nut buster" thing won't require mods, but if the issue is bothering so much and the solution is so good, just do it like that and save money.
In other words, only use this thing if you have a rare collector's guitar or something. Otherwise it's too pricey.
@@qwert911 If you have a really nice guitar but don't want to modify it or buy another whole guitar this seems like it work really well, especially if your doing a lot of gigs, this could save you sooo much hassle and still allow you to play your favourite old Strat without modifying it
@@utubehound69 Then they will be that special metal, "Chineseium" !!!! Full of tone!
Or $15.

Alright let’s see how much...
178$....
Alright let’s just close RUclips for today
SOLID SNACK that is insane. I was thing $50 or so max. Might as well buy a Floyd.
and its not even like some precision thing.. its a piece of metal with some screws in it
How can they charge $178 for that ? It's not like they reinvented the wheel or anything. It's just a locking nut that does not get permanently attached to the neck. I second the motion to just buy a floyd instead
Easier to just upgrade to locking tuners and a Tusq nut.
Lol same as me 🤣😂
And it costs almost as much as my guitar 😭
same here rahul!
That's exactly the point where this ...clumsy thing becomes obsolete, if you have that money just spend it on better tuners, a new nut and a can of silicone spray to lube the nut. It's most likely cheaper and better and you don't have that ridiculous heavy crap on your headstock. Or save the money to buy a better guitar at some point.
I can finally play kickstart my heart on my mustang
Lol that one got me
🤣🤣🤣
Wtf
🤣🤣😂😂
If it wasn’t called a nutbuster, and it wasn’t way overpriced, I’d probably buy one.

Nut buster is the worst product name ever because imagine telling someone you have a nut buster on your guitar, it’s gonna be the worst
@@Zamn_danielthe name is actually what sold it for me 😂
The name is in the same category as Gorilla Snot. I would never buy products with those names.
And they went all in with the name as boldly as possible on the front of the thing. It’s the Nutbuster and proud of it
When you need some help, with your tuning bro, who you gonna call? Nutbusters!
LMAO
Oh... so THAT is why "Nutbusters" keeps showing up in my wife's outgoing calls caller ID list!!! She must play guitars that don't stay in tune!!!
I'm afraid of no dive!
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
... still laughing :D
It's a cool gadget, but *I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS $175!!!* It's just over-priced, man. You can get an entire Floyd Rose bridge and nut setup for that price. I'm very disappointed in the price gouging. It shouldn't cost any more than a D-Tuna or an intonation key.
NO modification is the key
Agree - the price is totally absurd!
That's good to know.great design but man in Australia not practical price. Vega trem better than this

great product, glad you showed us it works Darrell, if it was under $100 I may think about it but $175 um? really, would have liked to see if it works on a Squire or something cheaper but thanks for these demos, you really do a great job and tell it like it is,
Invald test. Every time you used the nutbuster you ended with a short down push on the trem . This helps reset your trem. Had you that without the nutbuster installed your untouched guitar would have performed better.
NutBUSTED
It wouldn’t have effected it enough to make a huge difference
Unfortunately have to agree that the testing was not that scientifically accurate and although the device might help, the question is whether it is by any significant amount ...
And as i said the strings was stretched on the first test so it a promo video for sure.
Good pickup, I saw that and in the back of my mind I thought, that's how I reset my Strats instinctively now and they all stay pretty much in tune.
That is really awesome. I don't think I'd like having "NUTBUSTER" across my guitar.
Just great, that makes me think "Steel Panther "NUTBUSTER" endorsement".
I actually would love that 😆😆😆
I know... nice name! Wtf? They also make a super durable output jack called The E-Jack-ulator.
What if it was called something technical such as 'Bush Spreader', or 'Licking Restraint' ... ? 🤣
@@guitarlab7772 Just like 'Nut Buster' then ?
Before installing the nutbuster you followed a specific pattern of trem bends then chord strums, without using the trem bar to help reset the tuning. However after you installed the nutbuster you repeatedly shook the term bar after each phrase, which we know helps reset tuning. It would have been a much more scientific test had you followed the exact same procedure before and after fitting the nutbuster gadget.
Your testing is usually much more ‘consistent’ and fair than this appeared to be.
I’m sure you didn’t deliberately try to influence the results, but in the case you certainly didn’t apply the same test methods, so it’s impossible to know if the result was accurate.
Yep, every Floyd Rose owner knows that tuning issues with floating trems is the bridge not properly returning to position and its very evident on up bends so a down bend after an upend usually helps it get back in position flush with the body. I don't know if Darrell was doing it consciously or not but it definitely makes this particular test a little sketchy.
Hi,
If you watch closely you notice that when demonstrating the "bending up" section I never "reset" the trem by bending it downwards - only upwards which does NOT reset the trem - and tuning was solid.
Also, most of the "soloing" section I don't reset the trem after bending upwards :)
Yeah I noticed that too.
After watching again he may be right that he didn’t Reset it , just wiggled it up and down. Not drop string tention
The bend up tests at 3:25 were where we first saw the unmodified go out of tune. The bar stays back, so there was no downward flutter for the unmodified, but the bar is moved forward and there is some downward flutter for the modified in the test that starts at around 7:30. However, at 7:40 Darrell seems to show that the guitar is in tune before he does the flutter. So we do have scientific proof :)
Had a few locking nuts I bought online, and tried to see if it would cinch without being installed.... WORKED LIKE A CHARM AND SAVED ME $170!
Where did you get those
yep, amazon had some for less than $8. fit my esp without needing to install the screws. stays in tune. also saved $170, lol
You mean just a regular locking nut but "floating" like in the video ?
@@christopherrodarte9822 Right! U just lock all the strings together and that's what this thingy does too. Just buy some cheap Chinese FR copy and lock your strings behind the nut. Same effect :)
@@christopherrodarte9822 I think that's what he means to say. Just install a locking nut without screwing it down behind the stock nut.

When people don't know what to charge for their products, then you see something like this - 178$. Insane!
This product is doomed from the start just from the insanely high price. 50$ MAX and it would be seen on every guitar probably....
Absolutely correct bud.
Simple and seemingly obvious - the hallmark of all great inventions.
i believe i'm NOT the only one who waiting for it to get lower the price!!
Very clever solution. Looks like it worked well. Bending the bar up is where most tremolos crash and burn.
Way over priced ! Not worth more than $35.00
Very cool, BUT ....$175??? They are out of their minds.
Excellent camera work
Serious question: Don't my locking tuners do the same thing?
Guitarversum Sandra Sherman no, they lock individual strings. This works by locking all the strings to each other. One stringcan’t go out of tune because the other strings hold it in place
Yo your videos are so cool and you inspired me to play guitar. Thx man and keep it up
A bit of metall? For that price? Gosh.
That's a ripoff.
Profit margin is over 9000
How to improve tuning? get rid off the headstock and get a headless.
Yeah, true. But then you have a really ugly, nerdy looking guitar, which most people aren't going to want. That being said, the device in the video is pretty damn expensive.
Forget that, if I want a headless guitar I’ll just get a Gibson.
@@nehemiahzo_ 😂😂😂
@@JunkfoodZombieGuns
Part of me disagree, another one agrees. I think headless guitars _can_ look decent, but most makers somehow don't understand that they have to adjust proportions when they cut off a big chunk of the neck. I never understood why the advantages of headless were never really combined with a headstock that just serves as an anchor point for strings. The Steinbergers sceptre kinda did this, but not quite.
Way late to the party but $50 and I'm sold. I would maybe even stretch to 75 if it's this effective but 175 is absolutely absurd. 💩
Cool tool man!!! Thnx for showing it off!!! You're keeping my bank acct drained!!! 🤣😂🤣😂
$175 plus whatever shipping and vat fees to UK. I've paid silly money for tremel-no's, hollow points and tremmory but this is a miss for me.
Could buy a gotoh ge1996t Floyd rose and locking nut for less than that
I think I need a few of these. So these things are expensive but I like the idea that I don't have to put a router to my 2 strats or my tele with a Bigsby also an ES335 with a bigsby and my Gibson Les Paul wit a Deusenberg Les Trem . for that the $180 is well worth it to me. but I bet with in a year the Chinese will knock it off for a quarter of the price like they did with the Floyd Rose and Bigsby's
Yeah, for $190, they can keep that hill jack stupid looking thing. Tuning issues can be fixed for free with a little work and know how.
Why buy this nut buster when I already have one at home that also cleans my dishes!?
Who you gonna call? Nutbusters!
This would solve Les Paul problems.
couldn't you just buy a locking nut and put it on the strings pre-nut for $140 less?
Thank you Darrell. All of my guitars stay in tune only because of you. Seriously. I'm not a guitar player (I'm a "drummer") but at my later stages in life, I've found a real appreciation for modding and making guitars sound good at every level of quality. You're such an inspiration to normal guys like me.
I'll look into the product, per usual.
Keep it up and thanks again.
MMJD
Why can I 'float' an unmounted Floyd Rose locking nut instead of this?
That really is a cool purpose built product IMO. The whole time watching I was thinking it'd be awesome on my budget built GIO where I literally changed everything but the trem. It'd cost more than that guitar and all of the upgrades. I really do like the concept though. Great review.
Wow that is cool
On one hand, this would be good for the notorious tuning issues on a Gibson, from that drastic splay of the strings and the deep tilt-back angle.
On the other hand, the added mass at the headstock area would make the neck-dive and fragility problems even worse!
Better get out the dumbbells
i see you already have the roller trees, add a roller bridge, make sure the slot in the nut are sized right and relive the backside of the nut so the strings leave the nut headed toward it's tuner. do this and you won't need that paper weight.
Just bought one and installed it on my Gretsch Electromatic Double Jet with Bigsby. The tuning was so unstable that the Bigsby was almost never used. Like most people that have looked at these, the price held me back. For a while. All I can say is, it works perfectly! Just amazing! So I guess guitarists will have to decide what that's worth to them. I won't defend the price, but I will defend the functionality.
Impressive... But can it keep a Les Paul in tune? That is the question.
Hum "Nut Buster" Kind of sounds like Nancy Pelosi !
Kindly test it on a cheap guitar Darrell.
I have a FR1000 on my Charvel and its pretty good . I hardtail my Strats for tuning stability as I play music that requires a lot of bending (country ) but I may buy one of these put on my strats . It's an amazing product . Thanks very much ! As always great video !
Gibson owners will live it
If it works that well with a Bigsby, I am sold.
That was my thoughts exactly. I woukd love to see this on a epi or gibson with a bigsby or maestro style set up. This was a decent example be cause he has a floating configuration, but would have loved to see it on a different style guitar other than a professional set up strat.
Actually, you are going out of tune after pulling the trem up. In case when you installed this device, you are always pull it down after pulling up, and that fix the tuning. I had the same problem on my Strat. You are working for this device :). Nice try.
Was this sponsored or did you just decide to buy one and try it out? Just curious.
What do you think?
It’s obvious
Would you do a video if you got one for free? Pretty sure everyone on here would.
Interesting and unique? What was that pick?
Does it work on the 3 + 3 on the side tuners as well
ummmmm....nope..........drop the price a hundred maybe....
This is kind of a game changer. I just recently setup my Yamaha Pacifica with a floating trem after watching your video on how to set it up, but it just goes way out of tune so easily. Now that I see this, I may not have to buy a more high quality guitar that will stay in tune easier. :P
I think it would be cheaper to get a new guitar
@@thmusic7214 Too late, I spent 258 Canadian monies for a Nutbuster. $258 is a lot cheaper than buying a PRS or Fender or whatever it is I would have chosen. :P

Cool device.
What does Jeff Beck use?
My Strat won't bend up a full pitch note with the whammy bar. I only get a half note. Mine has the 6 screws on the bridge - is that why? If not, what is it then?
PS. Great product. This, along with the Vegatrem, should transform my Strat into a well oiled machine, in terms of whammying, anyway.
Edit: Holy Moly! The price tags on the Nut Buster and the Vegatrem add up about what I spent on my (MIM) Strat brand new! Maybe worth it if you are a Custom Shop kinda guy, but...if these wonderful innovators want to reach the masses, they need to get it at an accessible price point.
Your range issue is about the angle of the bridge. The more it's angled, the more you can pull up. The flip side is that you end up having less room to lower pitch as a result. As for the pricing concern, you have to understand that these niche products have to be priced higher, especially when they're new, because they need to recoup the costs of development, they need to pay for the marketing so people find out about the product, and to be able to afford better production methods. If this sticks around and becomes popular enough, the price will drop, as the more you produce in a given production run, the less it will cost to produce each individual unit. You just need to be sure you can sell that many quickly enough.
How far up your Strat trem will go is dependant on the angle it starts at - you need to leave room between the trem and the body for the trem to go far enough to raise the pitch by a full tone.
Adjust the "claw" in the spring cavity on the back of the Strat. Loosen the two screws that anchor the claw to the body, thus allowing the claw to move towards the guitar tail and therefore the trem to rise slightly from the body.
Don't go mad and over adjust. Try one full turn anti-clockwise on each of the two screws in the claw.
Regarding "raising pitch by a full tone". The string pitch change from trem movement is unfortunately not the same for every string, which is why a chord does not stay in tune if you dive-bomb it.
The 2nd and 3rd strings pitch changes a lot, the 1st string very little. This is a consequence of the string+saddle contact point being different distances from the trem pivot point, both in height and string (intonation) length.
You can increase the trem-induced pitch-change of a string by raising the saddle height a little, but that's a trade-off with comfort and playability.
If you want to lessen the effect of the other strings dropping in pitch as you apply an upwards finger-bend to another string, use more springs in the back - obviously, you need to then adjust the claw to get the system back in the best position.
The rapid increase in spring tension decreases the amount of pitch loss of the other un-bent strings - the downside is that you need to use more force on the trem arm to get the effects you did before. An adjustment of touch, but it can be made. It also changes how you bend, because with a trem you bend extra to compensate for the way the strings are stretching underneath in response to the increased string tension.
I and probably other players often compensate for that as best we can by sometimes using hand-heel-pressure on the bridge as we bend. It's an unconscious thing.
Conversely you can set a trem system up to be feather touch on the arm. The downside of that is the degree of pitch drop etc when you bend.
Why didn’t you demonstrate the “micro tuners”?
RestlessRobber because they’re tuners...
..'fine tuners'..

I wasn't convinced at first but now I think my restrung left handed Squier Affinity Strat could benefit from this.
Wonder if it'd work quite as well on a lefty? Think you'd have to install it upside down because the string holes looked like they were different sizes. That'd put the tuners on the wrong side of the clamps.
What if it's restrung righty?
Assuming your nut has been changed to accommodate the restring I'd imagine it'd be fine

My favorite Strat trick for floating/tuning is to play it till it's out of tune then bring it back into tune (as best you can) by tightening and loosening the trem springs. Cycle through that about 3 times and they stay pretty good. Hey Darrell, there's a video idea for you :)

Here is what the one man company told me about the NutBuster and its cost. "Hi Peter,
Thank your for the feedback!
Believe me, I would love nothing more than to be able to lower the price so that way more people could try out the Guitar NutBuster and experience all of it's benefits...and I will be able to in the future! This is just a one man start-up operation here with a dream and completely self funded. My overall investment in this devise from engineering, molds, prototypes, casting, secondary machining, custom parts made, plating, patents, and I can go on...makes the current price I'm asking barely even cover my costs let alone actually make any profit! When my current supply is near depletion and I'm able to re-order a substantially larger inventory in the future, I will definitely be able to lower the price as my overall cost margins will be much lower allowing me to sell in volume and make the Guitar NutBuster much more affordable for all guitar players to enjoy.
This thing is built like a tank and will basically last forever, can easily be moved from one guitar to another, non damaging to the guitar or having to swap out parts...there are definitely a lot of pluses here and my hope in the near future is that every guitarist will be able to afford to have one on their guitar!
Thanks again for your feedback and kind regards,
~Tony"
