Yeah, I didn't play the OG FF7, but I got some spoilers before the Remake was even announced. And since the remake was announced I refuse to play the original until I play the 3 parts of the remake. I know that most people say that the Remake is a "continuation" of the OG, but I will stick with my plan. Btw, I'm just watching the beginning of this video/the part of the game that the Remake part 1 adapted.
Things that I got spoiled from a long time ago:
      Aerith's death
Sephiroth transformation and clones (but I don't really know much about the clones, I just know that he have clones)
      The Crisis Core final scene
Meteor is a big thing (of course it is, it is in the logo of the game) and the white materia and Aerith has something to do to prevent it to happen.
Cloud kinda things that he is or just acts like Zack

Sephiroth the time travelling idiot, kills Aerith again even though he knew what happened last time, her death stopped him from accomplishing his goal of becoming god, oh yes if SE go down that path again then it is pathetic writing especially after the ending of remake, people labelling rebirth a sequel, if so it can't be the latest part of the compilation to the original ffvii lmbo, yes we need to thank Maxdood for wanting something more like the original narrative. It was him who labelled the remake trilogy a faithful sequel.
If this is the case I don't have any interest in the game at all, afte that ending in remake, because anybody who knows the lore would know ffvii trilogy occurs after DofC. Or the other side of DofC the side of the game we never got to see when controlling Vincent.
All I am going to say I hope this trilogy is a false narrative, and not a game how the so called experts of ffvii wouldn't even envision it being playing out, the song Hollow has indications that Aerith is dead from og in the remake trilogy, we have all heard of the matrix?

What makes Aerith's death so memorable over the years is in previous games characters did die, but most of them were old men or warriors. Aerith was essentially your white mage/magic dealer of the group and she was only in her 20's when she was killed. Whats even more sad is that she has NO REPLACEMENT character for her like previous games would do. Her role and her place on the roster is left empty for the remainder of the game. Almost as a reminder of your loss throughout the rest of the game and the pain never truly went away for some of us.

Fun fact, there are a lot of minor mistranslations in this game. There was only one translator, and he only had 3 months to translate the entire game, and they apparently only gave him individual lines of dialogue to translate rather than linear sections. Because Japanese is a lot more context dependent than English, he didn't always know what they were talking about, so that's why sometimes they say weird or confusing things in this game.
I bring this up because the "orthapedic underwear" part is one funny mistranslation. The Japanese words for "orthapedic" and "sexy/racy" are very similar.

    • @Artimes.

    • @aarons.2323

@@Artimes. There's quite a few mods that fix the translation on PC, but I'm fairly certain it's the New Threat mod that actively changes some dialog so it fits better given what we know happens. For instance, Cait Sith's dialog to himself when he's about to "die" is a whole lot different, and he gives a lot more hints on his true identity.
Some might see this as sacrilege, but I think it's fantastic. New Threat 2.0 (at least the vanilla version. I don't want Aerith resurrected) is a must play for FF7 fans who have played the game for the last decade or two.

People who have never played the game but know the history of video games even a little know Aerith dies. It's amazing you didn't just... know. And it's awesome! I've watched some people play the game for the first time, but they usually are filled with dread once they see her up there praying alone, because it's easy to figure out that that's the moment. As a fan of the game for the last 24 years, it's nice to see someone who didn't know. Now, get ready for that part in Rebirth! Although... I think it might happen differently just to throw fans off. So here I am, almost a year after you've put up this part 1 video. I see a random "I'm playing FF7 Blind!" video... I think to myself, "I wonder how it's going to hold up for modern whippersnappers?" Then I see you say you LOVED the first remake game, but know nothing past that point... It was at this point that I realized that the picture of you dabbing your eyes in the thumbnail weren't exaggerations for the sake of clicks... And I immediately sat down with some popcorn to see how you'd react to one of the seminal gaming experiences of my young lifetime. It's not quite like experiencing the game for the first time all over again, but it gives me flashbacks... I'm thrilled that something from the primitive 3D era can still affect people this hard. And now you know why the early internet in the late 90's was awash with nothing but bogus rumors of how to totally revive Aeris...
I'm also not sure if we older gamers are kind for not spoiling THE SCENE for the newer gamers, or just plain vindictive. "IF WE WERE SCARRED FOR LIFE BY THIS GAME, THEN SO SHOULD YOU!"
...And now I have the urge to replay the game again...

Back when the remake was announced, like 6-7 years ago, they came out with a DLC PS4 home screen of Midgar which I was so excited for the remake I downloaded and applied it to my PS4. Next thing I know I'm moving around the home screen checking out my Midgar background, and all of a sudden quietly I hear Aerith's song playing in the background and went from extremely excited for the Remake to deeply saddened. I was so excited for the remake, for a moment I forgot about Aerith dying, but once that theme song started playing I got so damn sad and just let it play out for like 5 minutes.

So in the original, Corneo can choose, cloud, tifa, or aerith. Depending on how well you do at getting the top items in the mini games, it will decide who gets picked. I did feel this was one thing they cut from the remake I was sad about. The original gave you multiple outcomes a lot depending on your choices. Whether cloud will be pick as the bride or who Cloud went on a date with later on depending on how you treated Aerith and Tifa (if you were mean to both you could go on a date with Barrett).

I know I'm kinda late on commenting this since this was from so long ago, but spoiling what happens to Aerith (or any character) robs you of the emotion that never quite leaves. Any fan off ff7 original would never want to spoil what made the game so great. The emotional journey of the highs, lows, the characters and your attachment to them stays with you forever. Playing the remake and seeing these characters again was like seeing a loved ones who had long passed that are as vibrant and lovable as you remember.

There’s a level of immersion they were forced to achieve through tone, writing and music because of the technical limitations, they couldn’t trick you with flashy combat and photorealistic visuals, the substance had to be there. It’s why old games tend to hold up so well because they actually had to make something good.

I just binge-watched all your FF7 videos! I already commented on your FF7 remake video so here's another long ass comment on your FF7 playthrough! Hope you enjoy it. BOOM! Here I go!
3:06 "I love how they really take the themes from this game and spruced it up a bit"
Dude, you have no idea! This remake is a love letter to anyone who’s played this original one. Every enemy, every place, and every character was included as part of the remake. So to say they took the themes and just spruced it up is actually an understatement. Also the remake was the most hyped up remake of all time because it’s been talked about and rumored for over 2o years!!
5:54 "Why wasn't this in the remake?"
I was wondering and asked the exact same thing!!
8:29 "Aeris? Why is her name Aeris? It's a translation error"
Now I could be wrong about this, but I think the story is that the Japanese name is pronounced as Aeris, so when it came to America SquareSoft translated it literally which was Aeris. But SquareSoft then merged with the Enix Corporation into Square Enix in the early 2000’s and they redistributed and retranslated it to what they felt is the correct way which is Aerith. I however grew up calling her Aeris and I refuse to change my mind on that, so I still call her Aeris to this very day. I'm probably the only one who feels that way but IDC!
9:56 "It does look different actually, they really redesign a lot of places"
Not really, they just designed every more realistically. If you look around the same places are basically in the same location as the original. The different lighting, and more realistic design just makes it look completely different to the untrained eye.
11:01 "In the remake, they changed it"
Correction: they didn’t change it, they just rigged it. In the original, Don Corneo CAN actually pick Cloud, but that’s all dependent on the amount of effort that’s put in on your part. You have to go all out to get picked by Don Corneo; You have to get the best dress, get the best wig, get the best perfume, and get the best jewelry and undergarments.
If he picks Tifa, that means you did the absolute bare minimum. If he picks Aeris, then you put in a good amount of effort but still not enough. And if he picks you, that means you went all out! In the remake, he’ll just pick Cloud no matter.
    12:32 "Oh, boy!!"
That had to be cut from the remake due to recent cultural changes.
16:37 "Whoa!" The pool of blood IMO made the scene more dramatic, but in the remake it was changed to that stupid purple glowing goo which I guess was done as a marketing decision so the game could appeal to the teen demographic.
18:32 "Whoa! OK, we're on the world map! This is uncharted territory now"
I had the same reaction here. It’s a mind blowing moment when you realize that Midgar is a small part of a whole wide world you can explore.
20:10 "This is crazy the first time you see Sephiroth. That's so weird"
IMO I think its weird to show him so early in the remake, I personally prefer this way because it creates build up and adds mystery. But TBH I’m also kind of biased because this is how I first experienced it and you’re naturally going to be more biased to whatever you see first.
20:56 I think it’s weird how they expand things but remove context for certain other things, such as the context for this flashback.
    21:46 "Say its true"
IDK if you know this but there's a date mechanic in the game, which affects clouds love interests and his chances of romance with either of them (this BTW is in the remake too). Depending on your choices, it will affect who goes with you on the gold saucer date. You can go on the date with Aeris, Tifa, Yuffie, or even Barret. In the remake, it's the same but it’s for the resolution scene instead.
23:44 "Oh! What happened to him"
Shout out to the opening scene in the remake to the burning of Nibelhiem flashback for Cloud!
26:05 They do not say WARK!!
Yes, they do, much like how Ducks go QUACK!
    26:15
Did you know you can own and even breed Chocobos? If you’re really good at it and play your cards right, you can get a gold one, which has the ability to run over mountains, over water and basically through anything. You can use a Gold Chocobo to get a very special material called “The Knights of Round” which is found on a desert island which isn’t even listed on the map.
27:15 “Yuffie's optional? How the fuck?”
Oh, the answer to that is very simple, FF7 was NOT expected to become the grand commercial success it became and if I heard correctly, there weren’t even plans to make any sequels or spin offs. But plans changed following the success and sequels and spin-offs came along resulting in rewriting of certain characters.
    27:45 "fort condor
No, they're just mostly writing it out of the story because the segment of Fort Condor is mostly optional.
32:39 "That's the cat with the crown from remake"
34:33 "It's going to be so weird to go back and play remake with knowing so much added context"
I don't think so, the remake IMO primarily is for people who've played the original. Yes, newbies can play it, but I think there are going to be several things that fly over their head if they do (i.e. Cait Sith’s entrance, the Sephiroth clones, etc.)
    35:05
Now you didn't show it, but I just wanted to point this out incase you didn’t know, but Rude actually has a crush on Tifa, and Tseng has a crush on Aeris. In fact when you fight Reno and Rude (in both the original and the remake), Rude will actually attack anyone but Tifa unless she's the last one standing in the group. That's why in FF7R, he steered the helicopter away when she was running up the stairs and when Reno tried to fire at her.
36:17 "Cosmo Canyon. Wait isn't that the drink she made?"
You got that backwards, pal. The drink she made is a shout out to this place.
39:21 "Oh!!" I like your late reaction
    4
3:05 "Why don't the two of us sneak out of here and spend some time together?"
This is the date mechanic within the game I mentioned earlier. Your choices determine who you go on the date with. You can end up going on the date with Aeris, Tifa, Yuffie, even Barret (this one is more as two friends hanging out than a date, for one you immediately go on the ferris wheel and skip the play because that's more for couples instead)
43:18 " Oh, you must be the legendary hero Alfred"
This is a theory of mine, but I think Jessie is actually the princess Rosa in this play, as mentioned in my previous comments in your playthrough of FF7 remake
    49:02 "I'm... Whoa!!"
Yeah shocking, ain't it? Now I could be wrong about this but I think because this is the release, they added more distance between the two to kinda blur it as to what he's doing but I still it's pretty clear what's happening there.
54:02 "I'm not ready to believe that that's real"
Alot of us felt the same way. BTW you should check out how all the characters reacted to this, the most surprising and emotional reactions came from Tifa and Yuffie.
57:54 your stream chat comment and your reaction to rereading it.
I got more long ass comments coming your way in the next videos, so I hope you liked this one.
