Honestly I really thought Kappn and Tortimer would come back in the summer update 2. Im really hoping or Gracie to return tbh, but I'd love all of them to return as well!
It's sad not having certain characters that just roamed. I liked seeing Katie randomly show up it was a fun little event. And I loved getting to chat to Pete while he delivered letters although now the letters don't get an evening time too so it's unlikely many people would be up for him anyway.
I think most of the low percentage ones are likely to come back for small Holidays like Rover and Reese & Cyrus did. But Wendell I'm 85% sure they will include him in the cooking update! I'm so excited for him to have a super solid role!

You have to consider how terrible the updates so far have been. At this pace NH in two more years will still not even have a fragment of NL's content. I really think it will come down to only a very very few of the old NPCs.

That would seriously suck. Especially because some people (like me) who bought a switch ESPECIALLY for Animal Crossing. And even if you didn’t purchase a switch for the game, New Horizons is $60 on its own. Forcing people to PAY for an update ( **cough** Brewster) that they have been pleading for, for months would just be cruel of Nintendo.
If they haven’t done that before, they won’t do it now. They do it for games like BOTW, A Hat In Time, ect. because they’re making actual profit off things that are helpful. Animal crossing is a simple game, like Lego Worlds.

I have my theory on gow they could come back. This is not confirmed, it is like 0% chance of happening, but it's what I would like. Kapp'n: the dock just feels empty. he can take us on his boat while he sings, and he could take us to tortimer *archipelago,* yes, I'll explain. Tortimer: he will be on tortimer archipelago, kinda like the better version of tortimer island. Here we can see retired NPCs, and minigames come back. Joan, Nat, Chip: they will be on tortimer archipelago. They can give you certain tasks each time you go and get rewards. If you do it multiple times you can get joans watering can (or shovel), nats net, and chips fishing rod. This are extremely rare and do not break. Dr. Shrunk: he will be in a brand new island called shopping island. It's kinda like an upgraded main street. Like a mini city, you can find lots of cool stuff here. Kinda same purpose as always. Gracie: she will also be in shopping island. Like we NEED high end furniture, we NEED to be broke, (i need to get rid of the 2 million bells on my atm). Digby: he could be in hha in shopping island, but idk what he could do. But hell be there. Every sunday, he will come to your island and ask you if hd can evaluate your house. You can either go with him or let him go to your house by himself (this can give more points). It has always been creepy to me that they evaluate with you not knowing. Wendell: just bring wendell. I have kinda like an idea for like a mental dream suite. Like the same thing, you go to sleep, see luna- but you arent just in bed. Like a little cosmic room, you can walk around. There is wendell. in the island you can use the machine to SEE designs, not get them. If you wsnt them, you can ask wendell for designs in previous dreams youve visited. The mail trio: erase the postcard stand completely, trust us nintendo, no one will care about it. Bring the trio. On the left well have orville and on the right pelly and phyllis. Pete can give you the mail personally if he finds you around before 12pm. Harriet: i kinda have an idea, really cool. So, in new leaf, harv mentioned hd liked harriet, right? Well, harriet will start appearing randomly when you go to harvs (which by the way is now accessed by kappn, not orville). If you complete a task for her, she will reward you. If you complete a task three times she visits harv, shell ask you to have them a WEDDING. If you complete it, harriet will open a saloon on harvs island. You can have her do a random hairstyle (like why not) and if you lrt her make a hairstyle by a test and promise not to change it, she will give you a diy recipes, only obtained by her. Serena: this one actually comes from a yt video called "giving every missing npc in new horizons a job" (sorry i dont remember the channel name). This will add a special holiday, just like halloween, toy day, etc. On the day you created your island, she will visit every year to tell you how youve done. If youve improved in hha, more stars rating, etc. She can give you a very special reward depending on how well you did! Please tell me if you have more ideas!!
I like the idea, but maybe tom nook starts selling more islands that could add kapn as a boat sales man that you could buy your own boat and at night, there would be a barge that kk,dr.srunk, and brewster run like a bus/party boat with soda and exclusive emotes and items.
I can’t remember if you mentioned it in your video but I think there’s a good chance of Gracie coming back too because if you look at Labelle, she’s got like a scarf on or something of that sort that is Gracies design.

honestly though with the train monkey, I could see them coming back as some fast travel system. Like you could put train tracks down like paths, buy a train because everything must have a bell block and get it running. That way we can bring back literally the most forgettable NPC ever made.
Imagine if tortimer island came back and yeah, it could still have the mini games (I loved playing those in new leaf) but imagine if the actual island itself was some sort of island where friends could collaborate on decorating it? I know it's not likely to happen at all LMAO but it would be a fun activity to do and adds more to online play
Given the game will get updates for 2/3 years from now on, I honestly believe they will add (almost) EVERY character that is absent from ACNH to give them a new purpose. It honestly sounds pretty fun!
Not at this pace. If they keep this up at the current pace of the updates, in two years this game would be lucky to have half of NL's content. They've already completely wasted nearly 30% of support time.

The AC series existed for over a decade, the update system is NOT made because people complained, it is made so they can release games early. In fact, no one likes this system but tolerated it for titles like Splatoon where updates, unlike NH, came in a half-decent size and the base game was at least somewhat near finished. They are not doing us a favor with this system. It's for their benefit, not ours. It is a standard procedure for the development team that also uses it for Splatoon and ARMS. NL was a major hit with the fans with barely any complaints because it had tons of content way ahead of all its predecessors. NH is being torn apart because it's a massive downgrade from New Leaf. Also you do realize that Pocket Camp has been getting several times larger, more frequent and better updates than NH during Covid as well? It's almost like Nintendo is one of the richest companies in the world that has almost unlimited resources to rearrange working conditions for Covid. And it's almost like companies with not a fragment of Nintendo's capital aren't hiding behind this excuse either. Covid is no excuse. Nintendo simply refuses to provide budget. Even partner developers of Nintendo have said as much and criticized Nintendo for it long before Covid, like Sakurai. Stop simping for a company. You are neither helping yourself nor the developers that are tied to limited budgets by the compamy that puts quality last. And yeah, I appreciate my funds. I appreciate them enough not to bend over for a company that profits itself silly from us and invests nothing into the quality of what they put out. Nintendo is not your friend, they are a for-profit company that in fact is being sued left and right for its anti-consumer practices. Simping a company is pathetic. There is an obvious role for Harriet if she were to return - Turn wigs into permanent hairstyles that we can swap between via the mirrors. Represented in the game as 'teaching us how to style our hair into the wig we're wearing', a once a visit function with her being an occasional visiting villager who randomly appears some weeks. (I'm just tired of needing to find the wig for my preferred hairstyle every time I decide to wear a hat is all) If it wasn't added as a villager interaction, the obvious way for Digby and/or Lyle's return to be handled would be via a means of letting us redecorate villager houses.
Tbt I get that it's a "Nook island getaway package" but was still angry that they didn't show rover sitting on a bench or in the plane at the airport. He has been there to greet the player in every game but wild world(but even then it's implied he controls the settings menu through the phone)

I think you should do a missing villager video, I only played ACNH but I think it would be cool to see some old villager's so new players can meet the old villager's and have them on their island
Something I think would be super cool is if all NPCs (with some exceptions) that aren’t returning with α job could LIVE on your island,, IF α player chose to invite them with the ability to ask them to leave whenever and choose where they live! I know this is kind of α silly idea but I think it’d be tons of fun and would make people feel super close with NPCs and make them feel less of α robot!
I really want a mini game part when your done with your island and there’s a mini game called coffee round up and your villagers will come in and you have to memorize there coffee order in 15 seconds and 20 seconds to make it and you get 100 bells per villager
Joan actually does make a small appearance if you purchase the happy home paradise dlc. Every Monday, she shows up in your hospital and gives you free turnips.
Maybe when they add Brewster, Dr. Shrunk could come and stand on a little stage and be a stand up comedian, Telling cheesy dad jokes and just hanging out.
The problem with ACNH is that it’s an island so there’s barely any room for new buildings to go. Like the club, harriets place (which was made redundant anyway), all the stores that the visitors used to have who now just stand on the plaza on specific days. I hope they will add some kind of city island to fly to where all the buildings could be which would let us be able to bring all the old characters back
It would be cool to see Digby, and maybe Lyle, be in charge of a hotel. For example, something like the campsite but it can hold more people and you could design the rooms.
If Brewster doesn't come back, he at least better come out next game. After all, there will be a next game since there's "incorrect input" KK Slider Songs...
Booker was already retired in New Leaf so it is kinda obvious he would be removed but Cooper! At least he should've been a visitor to the island once in a while 😭 Edit: I'm not sure if all these have amiibo function but it would be cool that some of these, mostly the low percentage ones, could be able to be actual villagers that could live in our towns after scanning their amiibos/amiibo cards. It would be cool if each has their own unique personality and dialogues (but that isn't too repetitive). If not then maybe just visit our island and even tell us mini stories from what they've been up to since we last saw them in game or about their lives or give us special item. Idk.

Maybe since rigby is part of the HHA he could visit and actually tour your home and island, maybe give some tips or hints of what would suit an island better for terraforming. Idk just an idea.
my heart is broken about harriet. I pray for her every time i change my hair. I wish they would bring her back. My dream update is a city island you visit with all the missing shops from CF and NL. Maybe she could have a salon there where she has special cusomizations. But as you said, that doesn't sound likely. A festical/event where she came and did a random makeover would be cute. Maybe not add much to the game, but it would still be fun to get more visitors.
Semi unrelated but I’d love to see Nintendo add a new wave of villagers to the game be it older characters or just straight up new ones entirely(possibly a new species but that’s pushing it) idk I just feel like I’d be fun to see some new faces especially since we’re coming up on the 1 year anniversary that or just adding some more flavor to the existing villagers dialogue n personalities

phineas was my absolute favorite CHARACTER IN NEW LEAF. the feeling you got when you saw that big old man walkin round your town about to give you a random badge for doing whatever you did. unmatched
Tortimer should be in the game with a cruise ship, this could incorporate tortimer and kappn.Tortimer minigames could be like little sports events in one of the cruise cabin rooms or outside.
I feel like a cool way of introducing Brewster would be by doing it Mabel style, showing up on your island periodically to sell you coffee (Villagers could possibly be seen holding there preferred coffee that day? Maybe new dialogue?) then once you buy enough/ interact enough with him he would request to open up a coffee shop that would take a few days to build. If you didn't have space he also could say he didn't mind joining his shop with the museums so it would take less space. Like your thought, Tom Nook could accept the offer and ask which one to choose; Open up a separate coffee shop or have it open conjoined with the museum.
Actually, they removed Meow because she was based off some toy, and the people who made the toy didn’t want their product in the Animal Crossing games.

For a Halloween update, ACNH should put in a graveyard island where you can see the ghosts of NPCs and villagers from past games who are most likely not coming back. They could also host the Halloween events there and have little minigames you can play with the past NPCs.
Maybe Chip Nat and Jone could have new roles such as: Chip giving you fish furniture/clothes , Nat giving you bug furniture/clothes, and Jone can give you turnip based furniture aswell? And maybe they could be like the travelers and you have to trade with them maybe. And if you talk or trade with them enough they could give you pictures of them/their younger counterparts or maybe even them in the same picture together (them and their younger counterpart).
I was thinking, since Sow Joan's granddaughter, Daisy Mae, has a birthday that's hard for her to be there for, on her birthday Sow Joan can set up a party area or a tent for a birthday party, and we could have her come back on the birthday of Daisy Mae. We could also have Nat come on an extra-special Bug-Off, where Flick can meet their hero, and in the Bug-Off one of them buys bugs/makes the art and the other hosts it. Same with the fishing tourney. I would guess that the youngsters could host the Bug-Off and the older characters could host Selling/Art/Points
Actually, when you have a three-star island, there's a piece of feedback obviously from Daisy Mae saying something like "When Gram-Gram's knees get better, I'm sure she's love to come with me!
I actually think Harriet could work too, we have DIY for some things and furniture, but still the shop where to buy unique things that can't be crafted, same for the flowers, some available at the shop and some from Leif, It wouldn't be bad to have some basic hairstyles available at the mirrors and also more complicated and advanced options at a new shop or in the upgraded Nook's Cranny
I think Brewster, Katrina, Gracie, and Tortimer definitely have the best chances of returning. I'd like to see Digby return, if only because it'd be cool to have siblings on the island, but a character that wasn't mentioned that I'd also like to see is Lottie, Lyle's niece, mainly because in HHD there was an implied romance between her and Digby. Her previous roles in New Leaf and Happy Home Designer are a bit different, so maybe they could give her a new job
And when May Day comes around again everyone's heart will sink when they find out that every character will likely appear in New Horizons again, except the majority of them will be waiting at the end of the May Day maze as it will be a new character each year. Last year was Rover, this year may be Kapp'n, the following year may be Tortimer, etc. etc.

That would seriously suck. Especially because some people (like me) who bought a switch ESPECIALLY for Animal Crossing. And even if you didn’t purchase a switch for the game, New Horizons is $60 on its own. Forcing people to PAY for an update ( **cough** Brewster) that they have been pleading for, for months would just be cruel of Nintendo.
If they haven’t done that before, they won’t do it now. They do it for games like BOTW, A Hat In Time, ect. because they’re making actual profit off things that are helpful. Animal crossing is a simple game, like Lego Worlds.

Kapp'n: the dock just feels empty. he can take us on his boat while he sings, and he could take us to tortimer *archipelago,* yes, I'll explain.
Tortimer: he will be on tortimer archipelago, kinda like the better version of tortimer island. Here we can see retired NPCs, and minigames come back.
Joan, Nat, Chip: they will be on tortimer archipelago. They can give you certain tasks each time you go and get rewards. If you do it multiple times you can get joans watering can (or shovel), nats net, and chips fishing rod. This are extremely rare and do not break.
Dr. Shrunk: he will be in a brand new island called shopping island. It's kinda like an upgraded main street. Like a mini city, you can find lots of cool stuff here. Kinda same purpose as always.
Gracie: she will also be in shopping island. Like we NEED high end furniture, we NEED to be broke, (i need to get rid of the 2 million bells on my atm).
Digby: he could be in hha in shopping island, but idk what he could do. But hell be there. Every sunday, he will come to your island and ask you if hd can evaluate your house. You can either go with him or let him go to your house by himself (this can give more points). It has always been creepy to me that they evaluate with you not knowing.
Wendell: just bring wendell. I have kinda like an idea for like a mental dream suite. Like the same thing, you go to sleep, see luna- but you arent just in bed. Like a little cosmic room, you can walk around. There is wendell. in the island you can use the machine to SEE designs, not get them. If you wsnt them, you can ask wendell for designs in previous dreams youve visited.
The mail trio: erase the postcard stand completely, trust us nintendo, no one will care about it. Bring the trio. On the left well have orville and on the right pelly and phyllis. Pete can give you the mail personally if he finds you around before 12pm.
Harriet: i kinda have an idea, really cool. So, in new leaf, harv mentioned hd liked harriet, right? Well, harriet will start appearing randomly when you go to harvs (which by the way is now accessed by kappn, not orville). If you complete a task for her, she will reward you. If you complete a task three times she visits harv, shell ask you to have them a WEDDING. If you complete it, harriet will open a saloon on harvs island. You can have her do a random hairstyle (like why not) and if you lrt her make a hairstyle by a test and promise not to change it, she will give you a diy recipes, only obtained by her.
Serena: this one actually comes from a yt video called "giving every missing npc in new horizons a job" (sorry i dont remember the channel name). This will add a special holiday, just like halloween, toy day, etc. On the day you created your island, she will visit every year to tell you how youve done. If youve improved in hha, more stars rating, etc. She can give you a very special reward depending on how well you did!

I like the idea, but maybe tom nook starts selling more islands that could add kapn as a boat sales man that you could buy your own boat and at night, there would be a barge that kk,dr.srunk, and brewster run like a bus/party boat with soda and exclusive emotes and items.
I can’t remember if you mentioned it in your video but I think there’s a good chance of Gracie coming back too because if you look at Labelle, she’s got like a scarf on or something of that sort that is Gracies design.

honestly though with the train monkey, I could see them coming back as some fast travel system. Like you could put train tracks down like paths, buy a train because everything must have a bell block and get it running. That way we can bring back literally the most forgettable NPC ever made.

Imagine if tortimer island came back and yeah, it could still have the mini games (I loved playing those in new leaf) but imagine if the actual island itself was some sort of island where friends could collaborate on decorating it? Given the game will get updates for 2/3 years from now on, I honestly believe they will add (almost) EVERY character that is absent from ACNH to give them a new purpose. It honestly sounds pretty fun!
Not at this pace. If they keep this up at the current pace of the updates, in two years this game would be lucky to have half of NL's content. They've already completely wasted nearly 30% of support time.

The AC series existed for over a decade, the update system is NOT made because people complained, it is made so they can release games early. In fact, no one likes this system but tolerated it for titles like Splatoon where updates, unlike NH, came in a half-decent size and the base game was at least somewhat near finished. They are not doing us a favor with this system. It's for their benefit, not ours. It is a standard procedure for the development team that also uses it for Splatoon and ARMS.
NL was a major hit with the fans with barely any complaints because it had tons of content way ahead of all its predecessors. NH is being torn apart because it's a massive downgrade from New Leaf. Also you do realize that Pocket Camp has been getting several times larger, more frequent and better updates than NH during Covid as well? It's almost like Nintendo is one of the richest companies in the world that has almost unlimited resources to rearrange working conditions for Covid. And it's almost like companies with not a fragment of Nintendo's capital aren't hiding behind this excuse either. Covid is no excuse. Nintendo simply refuses to provide budget. Even partner developers of Nintendo have said as much and criticized Nintendo for it long before Covid, like Sakurai.
Stop simping for a company. You are neither helping yourself nor the developers that are tied to limited budgets by the compamy that puts quality last.
And yeah, I appreciate my funds. I appreciate them enough not to bend over for a company that profits itself silly from us and invests nothing into the quality of what they put out. Nintendo is not your friend, they are a for-profit company that in fact is being sued left and right for its anti-consumer practices. Simping a company is pathetic. It's dumb consumers like that that allow EA to enforce its practices. They rely on simps that make up excuses for them.

You ask people to accept and appreciate being ripped off and encouraging companies like Nintendo and EA to do what they do. Also it's not just "slow updates". It's bad updates. When they continue at this pace, this game will be crap compare to New Leaf with a fragment of its content despite being more expensive and earning them much more profit. But I'm guessing according to simp logic, less content = better.

There is an obvious role for Harriet if she were to return - Turn wigs into permanent hairstyles that we can swap between via the mirrors. Represented in the game as 'teaching us how to style our hair into the wig we're wearing', a once a visit function with her being an occasional visiting villager who randomly appears some weeks.
(I'm just tired of needing to find the wig for my preferred hairstyle every time I decide to wear a hat is all)
If it wasn't added as a villager interaction, the obvious way for Digby and/or Lyle's return to be handled would be via a means of letting us redecorate villager houses.
Tbt I get that it's a "Nook island getaway package" but was still angry that they didn't show rover sitting on a bench or in the plane at the airport. He has been there to greet the player in every game but wild world(but even then it's implied he controls the settings menu through the phone)

Something I think would be super cool is if all NPCs (with some exceptions) that aren’t returning with α job could LIVE on your island,, IF α player chose to invite them with the ability to ask them to leave whenever and choose where they live! I know this is kind of α silly idea but I think it’d be tons of fun and would make people feel super close with NPCs and make them feel less of α robot!

The problem with ACNH is that it’s an island so there’s barely any room for new buildings to go. Like the club, harriets place (which was made redundant anyway), all the stores that the visitors used to have who now just stand on the plaza on specific days. I hope they will add some kind of city island to fly to where all the buildings could be which would let us be able to bring all the old characters back

Edit: I'm not sure if all these have amiibo function but it would be cool that some of these, mostly the low percentage ones, could be able to be actual villagers that could live in our towns after scanning their amiibos/amiibo cards. It would be cool if each has their own unique personality and dialogues (but that isn't too repetitive). If not then maybe just visit our island and even tell us mini stories from what they've been up to since we last saw them in game or about their lives or give us special item. Idk.

I'm genuinely sad at how much they took away from this game. The old Animal Crossing's had elements that made it what it was. Now, it's just a build-a-pretty-island-and-get-the-best-villagers simulator.
Maybe since rigby is part of the HHA he could visit and actually tour your home and island, maybe give some tips or hints of what would suit an island better for terraforming. Idk just an idea.

my heart is broken about harriet. I pray for her every time i change my hair. I wish they would bring her back. My dream update is a city island you visit with all the missing shops from CF and NL. Maybe she could have a salon there where she has special cusomizations. But as you said, that doesn't sound likely. A festical/event where she came and did a random makeover would be cute. Maybe not add much to the game, but it would still be fun to get more visitors.
Looking back after watching acnh direct its funny to see that at least one character come back that have a low chance.
Semi unrelated but I’d love to see Nintendo add a new wave of villagers to the game be it older characters or just straight up new ones entirely(possibly a new species but that’s pushing it) idk I just feel like I’d be fun to see some new faces especially since we’re coming up on the 1 year anniversary that or just adding some more flavor to the existing villagers dialogue n personalities

I feel like a cool way of introducing Brewster would be by doing it Mabel style, showing up on your island periodically to sell you coffee (Villagers could possibly be seen holding there preferred coffee that day? Maybe new dialogue?) then once you buy enough/ interact enough with him he would request to open up a coffee shop that would take a few days to build. If you didn't have space he also could say he didn't mind joining his shop with the museums so it would take less space. Like your thought, Tom Nook could accept the offer and ask which one to choose; Open up a separate coffee shop or have it open conjoined with the museum.

Chip giving you fish furniture/clothes , Nat giving you bug furniture/clothes, and Jone can give you turnip based furniture aswell? And maybe they could be like the travelers and you have to trade with them maybe. And if you talk or trade with them enough they could give you pictures of them/their younger counterparts or maybe even them in the same picture together (them and their younger counterpart).

I was thinking, since Sow Joan's granddaughter, Daisy Mae, has a birthday that's hard for her to be there for, on her birthday Sow Joan can set up a party area or a tent for a birthday party, and we could have her come back on the birthday of Daisy Mae. We could also have Nat come on an extra-special Bug-Off, where Flick can meet their hero, and in the Bug-Off one of them buys bugs/makes the art and the other hosts it. Same with the fishing tourney. I would guess that the youngsters could host the Bug-Off and the older characters could host Selling/Art/Points

I actually think Harriet could work too, we have DIY for some things and furniture, but still the shop where to buy unique things that can't be crafted, same for the flowers, some available at the shop and some from Leif, It wouldn't be bad to have some basic hairstyles available at the mirrors and also more complicated and advanced options at a new shop or in the upgraded Nook's Cranny
I think Brewster, Katrina, Gracie, and Tortimer definitely have the best chances of returning. I'd like to see Digby return, if only because it'd be cool to have siblings on the island, but a character that wasn't mentioned that I'd also like to see is Lottie, Lyle's niece, mainly because in HHD there was an implied romance between her and Digby. Her previous roles in New Leaf and Happy Home Designer are a bit different, so maybe they could give her a new job
And when May Day comes around again everyone's heart will sink when they find out that every character will likely appear in New Horizons again, except the majority of them will be waiting at the end of the May Day maze as it will be a new character each year. Last year was Rover, this year may be Kapp'n, the following year may be Tortimer, etc. etc.
