It was good to hear you mention Vera in the context of the Paul apparition. I started watching Corrie just one year ago and have been watching it where I find it -- and with over sixty years of shows, there is a lot out there. Coincidentally, Britbox has made 2010 Corrie available, and I watched the Death of Jack episode just this morning. That was a well-handled death scene. Billy's NDE was also very good, though as you say Paul's dialogue was somewhat repetitive.
Such a great conversation as always! I came away from the ghost episode loving it but after hearing your thoughts, I'm now not so sure. I don't really like it when characters have an easy way out (money appearing, super coincidences, no consequences), so the fact that something relatable, difficult and inevitable (grief) now has an easy-out (a ghost appearing) made me think.. we really are a million miles away from a kitchen sink drama. Back in the day, his religion and community would have helped him through and I'd have liked to have seen that. If both he and Bernie have now speed-ran grief because of a ghost.. hmmm
Great listen as ever. Because of how bad the show is now, I just pop it on every few months and read whats happening. Thought I'd take a look last week. Just when I think Corrie can't get any worse or sink lower it does. The show is such a mess right now and has been for several years. No characters, just people playing out storylines. Why should I give a hoot who the killer is? You need characters to care about storylines. Unfortunately things won't improve any time soon.
