My first attempt at baking a bun was a success. Ingredients: Flour, Sugar, Cinnamon, Mixed Spice, Nutmeg, Egg, Vanilla Essence, Browning, Yeast, Butter, Water, Salt, Raisins
Thank you for sharing that is exactly how I make mine I am a Jamaican raised in U.K. You did very well for your first time I have lost count how man times I made Bun well done
I actually like this recipe better than the ones that are done like cake. I personally think bun should be eaten similar to the way we eat hardough bread texture, not like cake. So I'm gonna definitely try this recipe. Thank you.
I recently made a second bun for Easter 2018, but it was not a tutorial. For those interested in seeing what it looks like after being cut, click this link ruclips.net/video/0bk6NIyZd1E/видео.html
Interesting. I've always seen everyone bake bun like a cake (liquid batter leavened with baking powder). But I've always noticed the commercial buns use yeast which implies they make it similar to this recipe. Looks amazing
ok, thank you, i have never seen the liquid method, but it makes sense to use yeast, it was the closest tasting and looking to “real bun“ now i always make it.
You are great on camera, thank you again, my family loved the bun, can't wait to share with my friends, so happy found your recipe, will definitely check your other recipes too. Thank you😊
Have you got the recipe with your measurements written down? I keep getting confused when I try to compare them with cups and write that down. The measurements you use with the spoons don't seem to equal the measurements in cups that you mentioned?
Says who? This is my channel and my Jamaican recipe. Compliment or simply watch and be silent, or give the video a thumbs down, but to contest my method in the manner of correcting is not appropriated.
sandriaG43 why sorry? we eat and make our bun whenever, does that make us less Jamaican? we are Jamaicans, we don’t need lessons or tips on its culture 🇯🇲
Nice recipe, but wish you would cut the bun to see inside. Thnx

Ani Grigorian-Smith Wow thank you, it was my first time making it and on camera too! So glad it turned out great for you, happy eating 😀
Wow! Very nice, but bun making is very time-consuming, will try making it. Thanks

Hi yes, I will certainly send you the original, just give me a few days 😄
@@sebasfoods4847 ah that'd be great, thanks
Great job my lovely :) perhaps add the rum after cooking and the yeast will survive and rise :)
Que delicia aquí en Panamá los hacen en Colón y en río abajo muy sabrosos
Es una tradicion antillana por nuestros antepasados
💯👌
It looked good. However, it is advisable that after it's been cooled you have to cut it to show the consistency.
I really like how you cook. Will definitely try this x
rooplus4 thank you, it was my first time and I’ve made a few since then, also thank you for subscribing to my channel 😀
Sebàs Foods you’re welcome. My heritage is Eastern Caribbean. Nevis. Did the bun taste good and was it a nice consistency?
rooplus4 yes it was soft and moist I was really happy with it, it tasted just like HTB in Jamaica 🇯🇲 (so I say myself) 😂
I remember my mother kneading her bun. I also remember her using yeast as a leveling agent.
claudelle Scott Hi, yes, kneading the dough is work! but that’s part of the process to get a light, soft bun. 😊
Excelente pero no entiendo ingles me gustaria la receta en español gracias
Sonia Aragon ok lo intentaré 🙏
How to make the glaze for it?
Sherrydene Jack Hi i just used honey, you could also use sugar syrup. 😊
The whole Christmas thing threw me off
Bun should be made with stout (Schwarzbier) and sugar cane molasses among the ingredients, which makes browning unnecessary.

Sorry jamaican eat spice/easter bun traditionally at EASTER time. Bun and cheese and red lable wine.

Ahahah...no.
Bun eat all year round
Sorry. EASTER BUN is wayyy better than spice bun there's more spice flavor. Easter bun is Easter bun
I am not being negative but this look more like Easter bread not the traditional Easter bun
