Innovation does not automatically mean improvement. No OEM engine manufacturer has ever wanted oil PERIOD much less PRESSURIZED OIL "behind the bearing" because bearing/bearing bore friction is the primary prevention of "spun bearings" and grooving the block further reduces that friction. The oil is also NOT going to go straight "into" the bearing bore at full flow and "pressure" no matter how many holes you make in the shell that "align" ONLY with the "groove" and NOT with the oil gallery bore in the block itself. Grooved upper bearing shells solved that "problem" in TRUE "high-performance" HEAVY-DUTY DIESEL ENGINES with far lower engine speeds but BEARING SPEEDS as high or higher than that boat anchor "big motor" and which get only "one shot" at connecting rod oiling AND piston cooling via piston cooling jet PER 4-STROKE CYCLE and which need "cross-drilled" because every intake stroke is a POWER STROKE with the 30-50 psi of "boost" those engines run continuously "under". Ultimately this "innovation" allows the main bearing shells to be used - as he said but did not demonstrate - "either way" which means in the block OR the cap which is utterly asinine in a "big motor" or ANY "motor" where common sense says you do not want "holes" and reduced bearing surface area in the ACTUAL "load bearing" main bearing shell. Those Brand X bearings are his "first choice" because they are the ONLY choice available for those oddball "big-block Chevy" engines and PROBABLY the "imported choice" because the real bearing manufacturer of choice for REAL high-performance, heavy-duty, high-boost, high-speed, high-precision 1,000,000-mile/30,000-hour "big motors" - Federal Mogul - wants nothing to do with "partnering" in boat anchor "big motors" like that AND doesn't have "salesmen" wandering around stopping at "engine builders" and then saying SURE WE'LL MODIFY OUR POS IMPORT(ED) BEARINGS FOR YOUR "BIG MOTORS" EVEN THOUGH YOUR "INNOVATION" IS IDIOCY BECAUSE THAT WAY WHEN - NOT IF - THERE ARE "ISSUES" IT'S ALL ON YOU AND WE HAVE ZERO LIABILITY!

You say, this guy does not know what he is talking about and that his methods and advices are shit ? You do realize that most and best solutions are made by those people who actually devote themself to work on parts all their life, and they find the most innovative solutions that actually works practically and not made on a PC from a tech engineer with 5 years on school bench no mechanical experience whatsover..
