On Thursday we were asked to perform the Canadian National Anthem at the World Cup of Hockey finals. We feel so grateful to have been presented with such an honourable task. Many of you have been asking where you can watch the performance. Well here it is, courtesy of CBC.

They play different versions on the announcements at school which is annoying. The American anthem sounds too patriotic and a lot of heart was put into the lyrics.

I felt very patriotic and humbled and that was an awesome version....and I'm not even Canadian.
I never realised i was Canadian until this.
This is by far the greatest version/interpretation of "O Canada" I've ever heard! The singing and harmonies were outstanding. The passion in their performance really gave a bounce to lyrics which are already meaningful. Canadians and outsiders alike can appreciate the beauty in this rendition of a song dedicated to a land and it's people.They really made their homeland proud!
People saying that they shouldn't have touched up the anthem, but guys, ya'll gotta remember that it's WOTE we're talking about.
the thing is, national anthems are something that large amounts of people should be able to sing in unison. a lot of the patriotic feeling from the anthem comes from you and all your neighbors simultaneously singing the same hymn. so when you can't follow the melody of the song, it quickly goes from an anthem to a performance. Which not all people will be a fan of

'In thy sons command' for life. And no, not misogyny, that lyric was in place for those who fought and died in WW1, one of our formative moments in history.
We've fought many wars since then. Women have died in combat since then.
Maybe the line was put in there to honour veterans of what was then a recent war, but history did not stop.Why would you exclude our veterans from Afghanistan?
Also, women did die in service during WWI:

I often viscerally dislike it when artists take liberties with national anthems...but this was beautiful! And frankly, while they swing the rythmn and dont stick 100% to the melody, the melody was close enough as to not make me rage.

I was not aware of WOTE, until I tuned in for the Hockey Game, I was intrigued, and immediately started to Google who this group was. A few hours later after watching their videos, I was hooked. Great young group, great rendition. Artist are allowed to make changes to put their unique expressions to a performance. Well done.

As an American, I have heard many rendition of the Canadian National Anthem. However, that was by far the coolest version I have ever heard!
I love that they sang in French even if nobody asked them to. In Quebec this would've been an issue. Walk off the earth is so inclusive, they settle an issue before it's an issue.

Best representation of Canadian culture in this song ever made. This will always be my favorite version. I was brought here by CTV saying Australia honoured their Aboriginal population in their anthem.

As a Canadian, while it was good, I personally did not appreciate them doing their own rendition of the anthem. There voices are already amazing, I think it would sound even better if they sang the anthem untouched.
