that seems sadly not uncommon for Kens videos I find, I think he either needs a stronger pc (cpu specifically) for recording video while streaming video himself or he may need a capture card to take the stress off his cpu so it can encode the video at full speed.
"There's something about this song that makes me feel powerful!" That's the what I'd say is the unique power of metal and a huge part of why so many people love it. No matter how I'm feeling listening to metal still gives me more power and makes any day a little more bearable, giving you a bit of a push to help you keep going
That melody is pretty, perfectly put #Ken, they are an amazing band, the melodies, harmonies, songwriting, vocals, musicality, the punch that is SOAD, one of the best bands ever. Vital, timeless music legacy that should be in everyones collection. Heavy and as powerful as an F5 tornado, and delicate like a flower in places. A sunflower
The chaotic or disjointed feeling you're getting from the lyrics may be due to the fact that, according to Daron Malakian, the song was written about ADHD.
I remember performing this song, live for an hour is going to music college and taking some singing lessons to prepare for it, and my singing teacher said are they American and I said yes, but they have Armenian heritage said that’s why the melodies sound like that.
what a song!. It´s been a whil.e since I´ve headr it. I have the record tho. A souvegnir from your country btw. Greetings from argentina. Heard it back in ´01 to be clear.
Yeah, it's Metal Monday! 🤘🏼 Serj Tankian also has solo songs and albums that are great too. Another great Metal Band is All That Remains. You should listen to their songs This probably won't end well or Two weeks. Many greets from Germany!
Do you want to hear Serj Tankian in a complete different style? Than listen to his version of "The Rains of Castamere" from Game of Thrones. And again I want to ask you if you can take a look at Hanabie and/or BRATS. You said you love it when they brake the rules. Than you will also love Hanabie and BRATS. I will put links to songs where they brake genre rules that sound really amazing. 🤘❤🔥 ruclips.net/video/tlkgbwmN9mQ/видео.html The Rains of Castamere - Ramin Djawadi & Serj Tankian ruclips.net/video/fuFbQ-Mewfw/видео.html Hanabie - Pardon me, I have to go now ruclips.net/video/uGn-3RKVagI/видео.html BRATS - Spiderweb
See I had heard that Serge took some vocal coaching in opera. He was pretty close with Chris Cornell, and when Chris died he covered Soundgarden as a homage. Again, anyone may correct me if I'm wrong. Peace from Canada 🇨🇦
Definitely like going back to this song and album from time to time..the standout to me besides the vocals, are the slightly off beat drums and the time signature changes. They drive me crazy in the best way..
This is one of the best albuns ever released. There are 4 albuns I get back oftenly, This one, The Chocolate Starfish and the hot dog flavoured water, The cowboys from hell and Elephant. All masterpieces in their own way!🤩
amazing react as always ❤ this album from start to the end is absolutely amazing they talking about interesting topics in the same time banger do deer dance next time from the same album
Love your reactions. I would recommend listening to the studio recording with lyrics in front of you or with them subtitled over the screen? Especially if you're going to try and pick apart any of what they are saying. But I also don't recommend watching a music video at the same time. Watching the video can distract you from. Really trying to hear the lyrics.
Loved your reaction. System are simply amazing. You got the rahhhhhhhhhhhh feeling! A recommendation if you are still looking. Killswitch engage, with Howard on vocals, not Jesse, and check out end of heartache as a track. Howard's vocals are so smooth, like melting chocolate, and then when he switches to his screams and guttural.. its just fab.
soad is great even though i'm not so much interested in this kind of music. but they are really dragging one into it. great drummer. did i mention susanne sundfor yet? when the lord? undercover? the brothel live at cigalle?
I know I am a wee bit late, and not sure if anyone has said this, but...a part of that fast vibrato Serj has comes from the Armenian heritage. You want another fast, powerful vibrato, and I'm still working my way through your reactions, so I don't know if you've done her yet....get down on some Beth Hart. Her voice is just...if butter had a child a child with a hot knife....yanno what...it's late. I'm probably not making sense >.>
So SoD don't tend to have a traditional narrative structure to their songs. It's not a story, or even an idea. SoD is a vibe, that's the only way I can explain it. They create these like, lyrical sense poems that tend to induce in you a primal level of emotion, a proto-emotion almost. The lyrics are often absurdist, deliberately so, although many do contain fragments of the bands experience as part of the Armenian-American community (the eating seeds line is a direct reference to that community, for example).
This isn’t necessarily true. Most SOAD songs do have a meaning or a story to them. Some are just them joking around, others are maybe more open-ended for the listener to interpret, but most songs have a clear meaning to them. I do think Toxicity kinda falls into the middle group; it’s relatively open-ended in that it can be used to refer to toxicity on any scale, but I think it’s mostly in reference to America’s issues
Soad is a very great band and Sergje is solo also very great ! Pleace react to his solo songs ! I love your reaction ! Greatings and love from germany ♥️♥️🥰♥️♥️🥰♥️♥️
I know you have probably been bombarded with requests for Ren, but can I ask if you could react to chalk out lines live version. I really love you honest reactions
Apparently eating sunflower seeds is a common thing in the Armenian-American community & this line is a reference to that. The band would see unemployed guys in their neighbourhoods just sitting on the corner all day, eating sunflower seeds & wasting away.
@ 3:21...I've long believed this. My mom took up banjo years ago, and one time she was talking about how you play it (not the process, but rather where the banjo 'fits' in along with other instruments in a piece). I remember getting annoyed when she explained that a banjo just kind of accentuates a song, and there isn't really a place for a 'lead banjo', like a lead guitar. I pretty much told her I thought that was bullshit, and you can absolutely go full Jimi on a banjo, slay the solo, then smash that thing on the stage and light it on fire. If you don't know the 'rules', you cannot be bound by them.
YT says there are no comments so I'll take my chance by saying please react to Pantera - I'll Cast A Shadow (Live In Seoul)! It was the last song off their last record, ever, and the message of the song is more than golden. The song starts with a speech that gives me chills every time I hear it. P.S. If you do get to it, pull out the lyrics. Thanks and keep up the good work! :D
Was it just my pc or was the upload a little framey?
that seems sadly not uncommon for Kens videos I find, I think he either needs a stronger pc (cpu specifically) for recording video while streaming video himself or he may need a capture card to take the stress off his cpu so it can encode the video at full speed.
Thought it was just my connection glad it’s not me
I figured it was to avoid claims
here too ... this and also the last. guess there are some technical problems at his rendering
All his recent videos are framey. He said he changed software, that might be the cause.
I mean this whole album is a must and a timeless masterpiece
most definitely
indeed its just amazing go through the album banger after banger!!

You could say you're feeling a Serj of power.

effing loved it so much. god tier energy. so unique
I'm a massive fan of SOAD, wish they'd get back together. Haven't seen them live and it guts me.
They had a concert last year in Las Vegas and another one this May! They actually have one coming up in August in California 😊
what a song!. It´s been a whil.e since I´ve headr it. I have the record tho. A souvegnir from your country btw. Greetings from argentina. Heard it back in ´01 to be clear.
freakin loved it a super lot. epic energy. 🤘

“Empty Walls” is my favorite Serj Tankian song, his voice is just hypnotic.
kaleo, also worth checking out, as well as ásgeir

Wow, thanks for the tip with Serj singing The Rains of Castamere. I'm speechless. Such a great vocalist.
All three songs are amazing. 👍
Hanabie is just amazing, such a wild mix. And also the industrial rock sound of Brats is great, very good voice.
See I had heard that Serge took some vocal coaching in opera. He was pretty close with Chris Cornell, and when Chris died he covered Soundgarden as a homage. Again, anyone may correct me if I'm wrong. Peace from Canada 🇨🇦
Commonly repeated rumor, but not true.
Prime Serj was absolutely brilliant.
Definitely like going back to this song and album from time to time..the standout to me besides the vocals, are the slightly off beat drums and the time signature changes. They drive me crazy in the best way..
And I think that's what music is missing it's too perfect.
Thumbs up for System Of A Down. Especially this song is great. Powerful, entertaining but also with a serious topic.

They are the Grandkids of band- Dead Kennedys
What i like about SoaD is how he does typical metal yelling but he has good vocals throufhout the song that are actually singing
Love your reaction as always. You should maybe listen to Revenge, love that one so much 💜

Man i wish Ken could react to Mike Tremonti on his Frank Sinatra's cover work (i imagine he is a fan of Frank given the big poster on the wall haha)
I have that whole album on my Spotify. Tremonti did GREAT with that.

☆ Tommy Johansson
☆ James Gillespie
You sound like Paul Rudd.
"eating seeds as a pastime activity" seems apathetic
Seems a pretty apt description of the toxicity of our city.
Apparently eating sunflower seeds is a common thing in the Armenian-American community & this line is a reference to that. The band would see unemployed guys in their neighbourhoods just sitting on the corner all day, eating sunflower seeds & wasting away.
Id say lyrics first
Ronnie james dio stargazer buddy
There is something about this video that runs too slow.
20fps are a big no-no. No matter how good the content is
