    Awesome video Matt, This is one of the best tutorial video's I have seen on RUclips. I am amazed at all the possibilities that MTH offers for digital sound and editing sound files. I had not idea all this was possible. I have changed complete sound files but never edited files as you have displayed here. Thank you very much for the video.

      Thanks for watching Roger! Its definitely cool to use for sure! I enjoy making files "my own" so to speak. Note however that the program to edit the sound files is independent of MTH.

    real good that you spent the time to teach others. Someone on the OGR Forum said you can damage an engine if ADPCM is used to edit files. Wonder in what circumstances that might be.

    Great information Matt. I just tried this on my GN PS3 converted mikado and it turned out great. Posted a video of it on my channel and credit your video as it really helped out.

    So can you make the trains say anything? Like what if you took audio files from a character talking from a video game, would the train be able to use those?

      @@trainlover9943 haha that’s awesome, if I ever did this I would give the train character lines from Serious Sam or Jet Set Radio.

    Great video, there is another method for sounds that I read up on that nobody talks about. There is a way to add your own custom recordings by using the DCS remote.
    Heard about it on the OGR forum

    • @trainlover9943
      @trainlover9943  4 года назад +1

      Thanks. The custom sounds are cool but they aren't engine specific. In other words, the custom sounds are stored in the TIU and due to this, the same sounds are used for each engine.

    For some reason, every time I change a sound, I get an error message saying "Dolt: Unable to open file... Access is denied. How do I fix that? I think the sound files are locked, and it prevents me from changing any of the sound tags.

      @@trainlover9943 I'm trying to change the whistle on my MTH GS-4. No matter what I try to change, I get an error message saying that access is denied. I've tried "Replace clip with another clip from sound file", "Replace clip with another clip read from an audio file". Nothing works.

      You can use your own but it's tricky to do. This video shows how to do it (It uses the horn but the process is basically the same with any other sound).ruclips.net/video/kQRVHTnYqtI/видео.html

    First, thanks so much for this awesome, awesome video! But I have a question on file sizes. I downloaded two recent PS3 steam files. One was just under 2mb, and one was over. But my understanding was that all PS3 sounds sets were interchangeable. Do you know if all PS3 boards have 4mb of space and maybe this one engine just happened to have a smaller file loaded on it? Or do different PS3 boards have different amounts of space?

    • @trainlover9943
      @trainlover9943  4 года назад

      Thanks! I believe all PS3 are 4mb boards, some files just happen to be smaller.

    Matt, thanks for the tutorial!
    I'm having an issue with getting a PS3 whistle to work on a 3v PS2 loco... It comes out at loud static after I load it into the loco. All of the other sounds still work (other than the ones I deleted to make room for the new whistle). Am I missing something??

    • @trainlover9943
      @trainlover9943  2 года назад

      Glad you enjoyed it! With PS3 going into PS2, that's not always easy. I'm thinking the issue is the clip types are different (the PS3 whistle and bell clips, for example, the majority are in 4 bit PCM audio type and can't be used in PS2 engines) try using a PS2 version of the whistle you want and then reload, that should fix it.
