Ha! Played Puerto Rico just last night myself.
The Marshall is similar to the Ensign and can also be great with a good attack combination. But I agree that the Ensign can work a bit better, depending on how many troops you can keep nearby and form kind of a wall. I see the Ensign like a Defensive midfielder in football, the guy who's mind reading the game from the back while supporting the whole team upfront. I love Warchest and would surely love to play against you! haha.
I should say that this was surprisingly great at 4p too.
Hi,
Greetings from Brazil! Thanks for the great video, as always. Could you let me know where I can find your board game rankings?
Thanks!
Hello. My rankings aren't public but my ratings are on BGG under my profile CotB
@@ChairmanoftheBoard Thanks!
Glad to see CotB is diversifying his free time into more non-gaming activities :)
Surprised to hear that you don't like Bruno Cathala games.. Hope u have checked NagaRaja.. it's an awesome 2 player game.
Do you still have Merkator?
I've never owned that one
I think I would be up your street
I don't understand the love at all for king-making games like Puerto Rico and The Gallerist.
Enjoying games isn’t always about wanting to determine who the “best” player is.
@@paulhamrick3943 Sure. But in the games I just named, what is there to do besides that? What joy is there in Puerto Rico? I am asking seriously. So many reviewers I see on RUclips praise this classic, but... what is so great about it?
haven't played The Gallerist, so I can't answer your question there, but Puerto Rico is an incredible game.
The game offers a very cool action selection -> follow mechanism as well as tons of fun, interactive gameplay. Apart from the theme that some people complain about in the original version, there's not much negative you can say about the game.
@@nikolamanojlovicci That action selection > follow mechanism is my problem with it, and pretty much most games that use it. It's a bad, king-makery(?), faux-interactive mechanism
and you're in the extreme minority. Most people don't find it to be king-making at all, most people rate it pretty highly. Your subjective experience of the game is absolutely valid man, but you should understand that a) no other person has your brain and life's experiences and b) as a result, other people are also fully valid in describing this game as a masterpiece.
