    Hi ~ I just used your video to help me on my journey to make one of these Minnie Mouse hats for my nieces birthday. Thank you so much for your video and knowledge. It was so easy to be able to pause and come back. My topper turned out amazing. I did use rice krispy treats formed into a bowl for the hat part and it turned out great, just not as smooth but I wanted it edible. :) Anyhow, thank you again! I appreciate your help!

    I love your bow that you made, I was just wondering if you have any idea on how many drops I should add to the gum paste to achieve that beautiful red you made. And how long it has to dry before I place it on cake.

    • @krazykoolcakes
      @krazykoolcakes  3 года назад

      Thank you so much Miluse! Actually we used pre-colored red fondant and turned it into gumpaste by adding tylose powder. It's incredibly difficult to achieve such a vibrant red by adding gel food coloring. We always use pre-colored red and black fondant for our toppers. How long it takes to dry is dependent on your work area and how dry/humid the air is. If you'd like it to dry quickly be sure you are working in a dry and cool environment. We hope that helps. Thank you for watching! :)

    Hi Laura, may I ask what kind of cutter you're using for the ears? I love the smooth cut it leaves.

      Hi Norma! Sure! They are the ATECO circle cutters. They're wonderful! You can find the link to them in the "show more" section underneath our video (if on a computer), or the "arrow down" area if you're on a mobile. :)

    Hi! I love all that you make in this video!! Just have a question, on your polyblade, you have a protector on the edge sp it can be used with ease and not hurt your hand. I was wondering where you purchased it? Thanks so much for your help!

    • @krazykoolcakes
      @krazykoolcakes  4 года назад

      Hi Amarilys! Thank you so much! That's very nice of you. :) The little protector is actually so that I can pick it up easily off of my table since flat things tend to stick a lot to my silicone mat. I made it myself with polymer clay. You can just make your own and bake it in your oven while on the blade. Let me know if that helps or if you have any other questions about it ok? :)

    Gum paste is usually white and I color it. How did you get it to be such a great black coloring? Love your tips.... VERY useful!!

      Thank you so much Kim! We add tylose powder to black fondant and turn it into gumpaste. We used the Wilton black for this. :)

    Hi Laura, how many days ahead can you make the hat before baking the cake?

    • @krazykoolcakes
      @krazykoolcakes  7 лет назад +3

      Hi Pink Diamonds! You can make it as far in advance as you'd like. Sometimes we make our decorations even a couple of months ahead of time. :)

    What was that black tool you used to transfer the polka dots?

    • @krazykoolcakes
      @krazykoolcakes  3 года назад

      It was the flat end of my medium size ball tool. This if anything is the tool that is most invaluable. Here is the link for you: amzn.to/2TisMBb

    4:15 please tell me how you can handle that thin piece of fondant without stretching it or leaving finger indents on it??? mine always tears very easily so i gotta use a thicker layer
