Apart from electrification not much has changed in the past 50 years since the mighty 141R,s thundered up and down this scenic line. Very good video footage, well presented!
I was on honeymoon in Nice end of July 2016 and we travelled to Monaco and Cannes on the train, I really enjoyed it apart from breaking down on the way back from Cannes!
What was grim.... the little trains that used to run along the coast... just before Cannes I think?...a boy played 'chicken'...and was killed under our train... It was very distressing ...seeing the shock on the other kid's faces .. A train worker said to us ''Kaput. Fini. no more''....can you imagine being his mum or dad... {late 1980's} Never forgotten it.
It looked a lot better back in the 80s when there was an awesome variety on southern rails. Then the BB 22200 hauled long distance trains (which they still do).
The coaching stock on the those loco hauled trains looked surprisingly old and run down. Definitely not a prestige or luxury train....parhaps worse than what we had in most of the UK! I think these locomotives have been around a very long time haven't they?
Nice station is a bit rough... lots of addicts and drinkers.Sad to see the graffiti over the trains....that wasn't there much in the late 1980's when we first went.

Jet166 I have to say Nice is a beautiful place to visit. I loved the train ride to Monaco, I thought it was beautiful.
Excellent footage Stephen, very nicely captured, thanks for sharing.
No problem Mick, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Great video mate. I do like the TGV and the BB22000 locomotive working those push-pull stock.
What a very picturesque station right by the sea there. Could be the coast south of Dublin! That Nord Pas de Calais loco was a bit out of area!
Does anyone know why both pantographs of the BB22000 are pointing in the same direction?

Good video! The station at 4:24 reminds me of Killiney
Thank You, yeah it does actually.
Nice also has a private railway line (the longest in France, I think).
Is it a narrow gauge line?
I think so, yes. (You'd think I'd remember: I've been on it, but it was years ago.)
Nice video!
Thank You!
Great vid Stevie

The nuclear powered trains
The graffiti on European trains is atrocious!
I know, it gives them a bad appearance!
Nice video !
