I was watching this video, and I couldn't help myself from pausing the video at about 2/3 through and going out my front door into the my driveway and keep trying to learn my first heel flip, I set a timer and tried over and over and over; I have been skating for 10 months and have been doing 50 heel flip attempts and 50 kick flip attempts everyday. Sorry to get off subject, but I set a timer and started doing heel flip after heel flip, I got close while not moving so I started doing it while moving, I got closer and closer and found myself not popping enough while doing it so I focused on popping it and then doing the flick, after this I really started getting close, then I went another go and it was awesome I popped it and flicked perfect and landed bolts, I rolled away, jumped off my board and started going crazy, I grabbed my phone and looked at it revealing it said 21 minutes and 6 seconds. After calming down I went out and tried some more, and landed 2 more. I want to thank EVERYONE at Braille for helping me and inspiring me to skate. What you guys at Braille are doing is an amazing thing and is inspiring so many people like myself to skate and improve everyday. THANK YOU BRAILLE SKATEBOARDING!!! -Miller
Man I've been trying to heelflip for months now I just can't land the damn things, either rolling or not moving. My pop and flick are usually perfect. I think primarily it's the front foot reflexively going down to the ground and I can't seem to break it its driving me crazy
i’ve been struggling to keep my kickflips consistent, but when aaron was explaining how some people cross their arms to keep their center of gravity it all clicked. my first ever kickflip i crossed my arms, but recently i haven’t been crossing them and i’ve had my center of gravity wrong. crossed them again today and bam, landing em easy!
Thank you for making this video. My older cousin who is an 1980's skater mentioned that he kicked down while doing a kickflip. This is because the 1980's skateboards didn't have an upward nose to flick off. That two step process of flicking the board of slide and flick is a great tip. -Justice Constantine
My tip for consistency is to not be content with just landing it, when I learnt my first flip trick I practiced my heelflip for 2-3 weeks and many hours per day, when I FINALLY landed it it was like everything was clearer on how to land it and I was able to immediately do it many more times that day, and I didn't stop doing it for about a week after, I kept doing it over and over and in the end I could land it very cleanly at a decent height like 9/10 attempts. Never be content with just landing a trick just a handful of times.
You’re truly a great teacher Aaron, you can see in any of your videos anytime someone accomplishes something the actual visible happiness in you. I dig that man, I will be sending my children to you to learn, without a doubt. Thank you man, truly you’ve got me kickflipping again lol

Even tho this is 3 years later and prolly will get lost in the comment section I figured I’d post. One of the biggest problems I find myself doing is overthinking tricks. I’ll hop on a board and stand there for a second and start worrying about my foot positions and what each leg needs to be doing that I end up totally messing up the trick. Then there’s other times when I get on and without thinking about the steps I just perform the trick and tend to do better
Find a good 'street' 3 stair Lance! This video was great, thanks for the tips guys. Hope to kickflip a 3 stair someday as well and will be sure to upload footy when it happens.

I've had the 'my foot hits the ground before my board does'-problem for over 5 months. I fixed it with alot of dedication and trying to keep the focus more on flicking my ankle and keeping my shoulders above the board.
Thanks guys for this vid. I´ve learned something new what might actually help me with my kickflips. I can more or less do a kickflip when standing still, however doing it while moving seems to be completely different story. The feeling is different and focus on balance is so much more important, which seems to be currently my problem. While moving I´m struggling with balance, because I´m focusing on left foot to push down the tail (goofy stance) and right foot to do the quick proper flick in the right part of the board but totally not focusing on balance and to be centered. So thank you guys for this hint! P.s. What also helped me to improve or actually start to make kickflips is to realize that you do just an ollie with dragging the foot on the side of the board over the nose.
I've been trying to learn kickflips forever well not forever but a long time and when u gave that tip on flicking your foot u left me with my mouth wide open u literally fix my biggest problem because I would just kick my foot out and my board would do a ollie and go way out in front of me and when I got full rotation and caught it with my front foot that mindset u where talking about was the exact mind set I was in. p.s. ( thanks so much for ur kickflip tutorials they help so muchhhh!!)
Im 19 y/o and i want to start skating, im afraid that im too late to start learning... Been watching Braille videos for 5 months and i feel every video is encouraging me more and more to buy my first setup
Just go for it, like they say it might take a lot of time and practice but you'll get it, you're not too late to start, other people have commented on how they're in their 30's+ learning how to skate. Just don't ever get discouraged if you can't learn a trick fast. Because once you do land it you know all the effort you put into it paid off.
I just want to say thank you guys so much for being so friendly about skateboarding and being so encouraging. I have been riding for years and only just started to try learning tricks. And today I learned how to acid drop and am working on the (dark jump?) not sure what that's called but it was on your 5 easiest tricks video.
I remember the first time I saw (and subsequently started using) the technique of crossing your arms as you crouch, to center your body. Rob Dyrdek in the DC video. It made so much sense, and it's awesome to see that I wasn't wrong about why he does it.
Focus on your back foot aswel. Pop, slide your front foot for a kickflip but try to push back on your back foot. Like try to push it it to the opposite way you are going. Helps keep the board onder you
Bruh I’ve been practicing my kick flip for only a week I can flick it every time it’s easy for me but my problem is that it flips but a little bit infront of me
I had a problem with my front foot going back to my board too early, and i never noticed it until i saw your other video of "KICKFLIP TIPS" and i think you should've covered that, its pretty much *extending your leg* and *letting the board flip* that really really helped me
Something that helped me get a few of my kickflips was to get my back foot only slightly hanging off the tail in popping position, but instead of putting pressure on my heel id put more pressure from the middle of my sol to my toes. It helped me stop that slight scoop that was happening

thanks braille for all these tips, they really help alot, keep making sick videos like these, btw lance landed the cleanest kickflip 4:03. props to the SkateGod.
This video is probably helpful for others, but it didn't help me. I can do Kickflips just fine and relatively consistent, but I tend to drag my back toe. I land with my front foot clean, but my back foot isn't landing properly. Been an issue of mine for far too long and nobody ever has any advice for fixing it. Please, please, please make a video about how to land clean Kickflips!
Aaron seemed like he got to a point where he just started to tell Lance to start doing better skating. This really made me realize the difference between good skaters and new skaters mind.
this is the best kickflip tip u can give. i had to re learn myself... them boring kickflips man... hahaha the good ones feel sooo good catching with your back foot.
I have another theory, u making fists doesnt help u either, skateboarding ur supposed to go with the flow be relaxed, its smoother. with u clenching ur fists is not being relaxed think bout it, look at everyone else their arms and hands go with the movement u need to ease up lance itl help
hi aron i had a lot of problems with my kickflip and watched a lot of videos to help me but it didn't worked my back feet never landed on the board. but today i landed my first kickflip and i couldn't set my back feet on the board beacuse i fliked the board to much forward so i fliked more to the side and it helped a lot so maybe another common problem to fix and hox to fix it
My problem was not covered, but was discussed by Lance in his other what I've learned about kickflips video. I land with most my weight on my back foot, and my front foot seems like it comes back too far (I land with my feet too close to eachother - and the board kind of in a manual but then I fall back). I have tried leaning more forward, and also tried to jump forward to meet the board but it hasnt clicked yet. I will keep workshopping and can send some before and after video once I get it. I also skipped right to kickflips (have ollies and fs 180) because I figured if I'm going to be putting in the practice I want it to be for a cooler trick. Thanks for everything you guys do!
This video did it for me! Landed my first kickflip because of this video!Especially the tip about keeping your weight above the board was key. Thanks braille!
took me a year to learn kickflips and i never watched a video on how to do them efficiently then i watched how to heal flip by you and I got it in a week
My problem is that my back foot never comes off the ground and the board does the full rotation and just lands in front of my right foot (I ride goofy)
All it is with landing with just one foot on the board is commitment. Once you fully commited to the consequences that can follow by landing primo or else wrong you will land your kickflip within a day. You could wear ankle stabelizers for safety as well as for your mind. But it really just comes down to commitment
Not skated since I was 16, sadly I ended up with a job working with the police and had to stop (I didn't apply for it, my mum did on my behalf...) had to give up skating because I had to work shifts... seeing these videos reminds me of the good times I had with mates, a few cans of coke (we put all our poker money together for Cola and crisps and bus fare to get us around to street spots as we didn't have skate parks). I'm 29 now and the dream would be to get enough money together to meet you guys even for a day just to re-live it and make my dream come true. Yeah you get this all the time I'm sure and I live in the UK so probably to much of a challenge for you guys, but hey you don't get if you don't try.
You can even see that the kick flips lance lands are the ones that he centers his weight. It's very true. For every trick it's important to crouch straight down and center your weight between both feet to create tension before the pop
kicking down, 10000000% Super glad you mentioned this as a common fault (dont feel so alone!) when I'm practicing catching only with my front foot, i'm noticing it returns to the board from the side which is weird... but I can kinda feel that i'm making slow progress with the flick even if it isn't perfect (other half kindly films it too which super useful!)
J Bud pop straight down, maybe try it moving, it wont rotate as easily. If both doesnt work do an ollie every time you miss a kickflip, so you practice popping down in the back of your head
This is my common routine before I allow myself to leave the skatepark. 3 b/s Shuvits in a row, 3 Kickflips in a row and 3 manuals on the manipad in a row. This also makes up my warmup but on a bad day it's all I get done before I have to leave. :D
THANKS YOU GUYS ! ! ! I haven't really been skateboarding at all because of School but now that I'm done with it and after watching this video, I decided to go out and land the cleanest kickflip I could. After about 33 attempts I landed it. I was really good at landing it back in 2014 and over the years I kinda lost it but now it's back!

thanks braille for all these tips, they really help alot, keep making sick videos like these, btw lance landed the cleanest kickflip 4:03.
props to the SkateGod.
Train and train
Try catching with you back foot and not your front foot. That’s how I fixed that issue when I was learning kickflips
Aaron seemed like he got to a point where he just started to tell Lance to start doing better skating. This really made me realize the difference between good skaters and new skaters mind.
whenever i kickflip my board always turn because of my backfoot, how do i stopthat?
fix ur foot placement and shoulder rotation
Thank you so much Braille skateboarding, I watch this video and now I can do the kickflip !! Love from France !
Lance for president!
better than Trump
and Kanye
Gecko Kanye will give free yeezys to everyone
EAZY G why we want yeezys? we gotta skate lol
this is the best kickflip tip u can give. i had to re learn myself... them boring kickflips man... hahaha the good ones feel sooo good catching with your back foot.
I can heelflip every try but kickflips feel cooler but I can only do like 3 a day
naxtn lucky you i can kickflip every try and down a 2stair usually but i have never heelflipped
Santerian I've only heelflipped a loading dock and a 4 stair
I saw your Skateboarding made simple......I'm amazed.......Thank you .......I learned up to heelflip......next is kickflip only
I have another theory, u making fists doesnt help u either, skateboarding ur supposed to go with the flow be relaxed, its smoother. with u clenching ur fists is not being relaxed think bout it, look at everyone else their arms and hands go with the movement u need to ease up lance itl help
A Bcd yeah he looks stiff
hi aron i had a lot of problems with my kickflip and watched a lot of videos to help me but it didn't worked my back feet never landed on the board. but today i landed my first kickflip and i couldn't set my back feet on the board beacuse i fliked the board to much forward so i fliked more to the side and it helped a lot so maybe another common problem to fix and hox to fix it
haha you guys are wearing the same shirts again :D
My problem was not covered, but was discussed by Lance in his other what I've learned about kickflips video. I land with most my weight on my back foot, and my front foot seems like it comes back too far (I land with my feet too close to eachother -
and the board kind of in a manual but then I fall back).
#makeaaronheelfipthefive
This video did it for me! Landed my first kickflip because of this video!Especially the tip about keeping your weight above the board was key. Thanks braille!
Really cant wait to learn this :/
But im still... a beginner
took me a year to learn kickflips and i never watched a video on how to do them efficiently then i watched how to heal flip by you and I got it in a week
#fettysroadtosponsorship
Kevin Supple he has a sponsor
+kawaii didn't know that
Kevin Supple kryptonikz
I agree! Tell Fetty!
The leaning more to the back foot tip just helped me do it immediately
My problem is that my back foot never comes off the ground and the board does the full rotation and just lands in front of my right foot
(I ride goofy)
Sectoxarts try to bend your left knee more when you jump. Or just practice catching it with just your back foot. Once u get that down try landing it
All it is with landing with just one foot on the board is commitment. Once you fully commited to the consequences that can follow by landing primo or else wrong you will land your kickflip within a day. You could wear ankle stabelizers for safety as well as for your mind. But it really just comes down to commitment
lance needs to skate more
Not skated since I was 16, sadly I ended up with a job working with the police and had to stop (I didn't apply for it, my mum did on my behalf...) had to give up skating because I had to work shifts... seeing these videos reminds me of the good times I had with mates, a few cans of coke (we put all our poker money together for Cola and crisps and bus fare to get us around to street spots as we didn't have skate parks). I'm 29 now and the dream would be to get enough money together to meet you guys even for a day just to re-live it and make my dream come true. Yeah you get this all the time I'm sure and I live in the UK so probably to much of a challenge for you guys, but hey you don't get if you don't try.
Everytime I try I just kick the board away
Your probably kicking in front instead of to the side
You can even see that the kick flips lance lands are the ones that he centers his weight. It's very true. For every trick it's important to crouch straight down and center your weight between both feet to create tension before the pop
I always kick the board forward
James Mata flick your foot more to the side. and lift your back foot more
Same problem here, thanks for the tip.
Got a question, once u get a flip (heel or kickflip) is it that hard to learn all the other tricks ?
idk y but it bugs me soo much that lance is terrible at kickflips
I wish he would put in the time to practice so we can see improvement or find someone new who has the time to really practice and is really into it.
Question What You Fear if he doesn't wanna do it then he doesn't have to
Question What You Fear he's a busy dude
exactly they should find some fresh meat that is at his level to help progress in real time as if it was a dedicated skater
In his defense he is a filmer that skates like once a month hahaha but yes I should get him skating more
kicking down, 10000000% Super glad you mentioned this as a common fault (dont feel so alone!)
when I'm practicing catching only with my front foot, i'm noticing it returns to the board from the side which is weird... but I can kinda feel that i'm making slow progress with the flick even if it isn't perfect (other half kindly films it too which super useful!)
Still a problem for me. My kickflips are goeing varial (45°). Can someone help me ?
Leroux matéo put your backfoot at the middle of the tail
Same and I make sure my back foot is in the middle popping straight down :(
J Bud pop straight down, maybe try it moving, it wont rotate as easily. If both doesnt work do an ollie every time you miss a kickflip, so you practice popping down in the back of your head
What helped me move your front foot a little up
Might be coz of tight trucks. I loosened mine a smidge and I can land em every try
‘Lean back’ described as, “move your hips (or core) over the tail more,” works as a way to get people to feel being further back.
Hi mom
Lucas Garcia hello, son
Aaron teaching = joy
who's lance...... OH you mean the #skategod
This is my common routine before I allow myself to leave the skatepark.
3 b/s Shuvits in a row, 3 Kickflips in a row and 3 manuals on the manipad in a row. This also makes up my warmup but on a bad day it's all I get done before I have to leave. :D
My 7th grade friend brought a vape to school in his pocket
So.... and you told us this why
A year later and I still think about this comment
I still wake up at night in a cold sweat thinking about this comment
Someone vaped in class at my school(I’m in 8th grade)
OrcaCubes lol. What was the point of this
Aaron and Lance have inspired me so much
When you can’t even flip the board
THANKS YOU GUYS ! ! !
I haven't really been skateboarding at all because of School but now that I'm done with it and after watching this video, I decided to go out and land the cleanest kickflip I could. After about 33 attempts I landed it. I was really good at landing it back in 2014 and over the years I kinda lost it but now it's back!
i'm running to treflip i'm close
Reyzark you'll get it soon, just remember to really put a lot of energy into your backfoot
Been close to that son of a b for almost 3 years now..
hey braile i havent seen your vids for 2 years but after all that suffering ive been though i am back
DaBoss TheMaster what happened?
