- The Hungarian Folk Tales stem from original folktale collections, every episode has its special authentic ornamentation. The trio of folk art, folk music and folk tales are masterfully combined in the episodes.

Once upon a time a poor widower gets ill and dies - but she cannot leave anything to her daughter. The daughter leaves home to beg, but for no good, nobody gives her anything, they rather send her to work. However, the girl was very lazy - she rather tried to get ahead with her shrewdness. She also tricks the king, who sells his castle to the person who does not bargain a bit. This is how she gets into the castle, which has as many windows as there are days, and it has as many doors as there are weeks, and as many rooms, as there are months. At night she lets in a mysterious big black cat - which she bribes to herself and finds out her secret - as with this cat curious things happen every night.

The makers used the decorative art of a certain countryside region at each episode. The trio of folk art, folk music and folk tales are masterfully combined in the episodes, which have unique imagery, sometimes spicy folk humor in the dialogues. Thanks to the natural presentation of the storytellers, and the music of the Kaláka band, the viewer can experience something unique and special.

Some folktales are more about "work smarter, not harder". This one was about cleverness and perseverance.
well, when all your life you've been poor and you find yourself having to face many situations, sometimes you can't help being all these things in order to survive... being lazy might just mean having absolute disgust for being a labourer, which the girl was along with her mom, who died most likely because of it.

I had trouble sleeping since I was a kid. Since I grew up without my parents nor any relatives. I had no idea what to do until I found this. I put this on autoplay then lie on my bed. It feels you have a father telling you bed time stories. I ended up falling asleep easily. Thank you. 😊

Because not just one type of person gets to be a hero.
Her flaw was physical laziness, but her strenghts were persistence, negotiation, kindness and curiosity. You could interpret this as a geek dealing with a college, attending class, being introduced to a concept and following where it leads. The concept itself already helped you, but by discovering what exactly it is (e.g. a law of physics) you get to live a better life. If not a single geek, then humanity as an entity dealing with Earth (the king) to pay later. If we're quick and persistent enough in research for science (following the cat), we'll win the race against time (365 days) and be able to trade our findings (the diamonds/crystals) for a better life (the castle). The windows will need to be repaired though (climate change).

I did study science I was a bit of lazy but I was persistent In time than i become lazy more because my psychical state and didn't end even my bachelor at end of study And was scared to get psychological help So lazines never lead to be good at science Sorry to ruin it to you If you are even bit of lazy maybe go get some rich partner to not struggle with life Laziness never will lead someone to be great at science And person will never be successfull in life

I love folktales/stories about cats, and this one is very interesting. I like the fact that the castle is the symbolism of a year, with as many windows as there are days in the year, and as many rooms as there are months. I wouldn't mind living in a castle like that.
I like the fact that a black cat is used in this tale, and the clever idea that a diamond leaves the cat's mouth when he visits the last girl. The garden the cat enters is very beautiful garden, and I love this story in general.

I find it very interesting how different this folklore stories are, from the classic English tales, I mean, usually if you feel tempted to seek the truth the handsome prince either dies or goes away. In this case, like in the Pink Pig or many others, seeking the truth, or following the creatures, tend to be rewarded.
I think the pink pig was more of a metaphor about how he saw her beauty despite her outer ugliness and in the end everybody saw it

I love this one so much. She had such a miserable life and was even prepared to die, just to spend her final days with a roof over her head. I'm so happy this has a happy ending. 💜
Finally. A story about a girl with guts and cunning.
My purring black cat has yet to bring me a diamond, or even a zirconium. Love the details of the building, so beautiful.
One interesting thing about the castle is that it is indeed based in reality! They're known as "calendar houses" and have architecture in patterns of the year, like the 365 windows and 7 doors.
Not only was this the first time in fairy tales that the lazy got a happy ending, but, it's also the first time in (Hungarian) folk tales that a woman who isn't blonde got a happy ending, at least, from all that I've watched so far, hahaha.

All these stories have a strange happy ending but I can't stop watching. They remind me of some other well known folk tales just the names and some of the story lines are changed. Love them.

So basically what I’ve gathered from all these stories is that if you haven’t found your prince/princess it’s probably cause they’ve been cursed by some witch an became a frog,rat or cat 🤷🏽♀️
