A great video. I love the soup maker. It’s hard to be a “ soup” person when the house members all want their own dietary choices, I love soup and it’s hard to run this restaurant when so many meals need to be catered. I’d love to must set it and forget it while making the other food required. I’d love just soup all winter.
Why don’t you use the tops of the leeks as that is the best bit for soup l cut all the leeks up that I buy and parsley and frezze them so when I want chicken soup I have the things at hand great for the winter 🐝🧵🐝
I've started growing perennial leeks. One variety is called Delft I believe. You cut them at ground level and they come back pretty rapidly. Plant once, harvest forever - Bootiful 😉 Also doing "Potato onions" and a Korean bush celery, both perennials. Ultimate lazy gardening that is 😁

Yum I love soup and the consistency is just perfect. I have a soup maker too which I should use more often. Although I don't like the taste of pumpkin per se it makes a lovely texture for soup. I add white potato, sweet potato. carrot, stock cubes, curry powder and water. Perfect!

Hi Sean. Good idea to get away from the smoke. During Australia's Black Summer of 2020, we had to escape three times through flames and take refuge at a University campus with our rescue cats. For over a week, we couldn't see the sky, and we were breathing in ash and debris if we had to go out. I ended up on steroids, so smoke is really dangerous. I am so over hot, dry, burnt, snake infested Australia. I have never belonged. My ancestors are from Scotland, Ireland, England, and Wales. I wish I could be there. It's where I belong, but my daughter is fighting cancer, so I can't leave. I live vicariously through your videos. Blessing from Australia to you and the cats.🐈⬛️🐈⬛️

There was a massive bush fire that year & flames were flying from the Blue Mountains all the way to Castle Hill & Parramatta. I was putting out the flames on the roof, the bushes that would ignite or instaneously combust. I thought we were going to be cooked then. I dumped the bank job & ran. I immigrated to my mothers homeland & I have been in the UK since 1998. The weather is crap but the people are fantastic, not only in Wales, but Scotland, Yorkshire to Cornwall. It has its bad points but everywhere does. I would rather have water than be cooked. Wishing your daughters recovery & hope one day you can return.
Sean, it was sad to see all the tree damage on the mountain but it's part of nature's way. By the way, are the cats adjusting to your being home? Can you tell if they missed you? Our weather here in Arkansas, USA has warmed up. It was almost 60 deg. yesterday. (F) Not at all like Christmas! It rained for three days! I don't decorate or do anything special for the holiday. I was watching live steam last night as could not sleep as it was windy and rain last night here in sw scotland. Was going to say how are your friends getting on in sw scotland where they bought a house in a tree felling area sounds like it will be chainsaws and hgv,s most of the day just think of all those loose branches flying around we have trees here lots of twigs and branches around.enjoyed the live steam and today's video I have the same problem with sponge fingers from local bakery 5 in a pack they don't last long but go well with cup of tea the forecast says Thursday and Sunday supposed to be ok.

Did you ever set up the treadmill? Add up all of the dessert calories and walk the amount needed. That will cut your your finger indulgence.

You’re lucky you live in a civilized place. We have a trail cam set up and every morning we can’t believe the wildlife that has come. We have bobcats, javelina, which are like wild, hogs, raccoons, bunnies, and kotamundi. We couldn’t figure out why all of my tomatoes have bite them and put the camera in and found that every evening the raccoons were coming in and stealing my tomatoes. I need to find a way to put an end that one as they took one bite out of everything so I had nothing to harvest. I live in the desert of Arizona….. not that civilized.
I was surprised you cut off all the leeks leaves, we only cut off the root end, but what do we know in Australia? I only leave the tea bag in boiling water for two minutes maximum, otherwise it’ll taste bitter, unless it’s herbal ofcourse.

Hi Sean, we’ve been watching your vlogs for a few weeks now, it’s become a calming morning ritual. We’re just over the mountain from you in Ferndale, but originally from England. My gardens are either rock hard from summer draught or a winter bog, so leeks would be a good thing for us to grow perhaps. I agree about the Pukka tea, all a bit hit and miss. 😂

The soup looked good what a handy gadget. Plants looked healthy don't think you've had a bad one from them. Thought you wasted a bit of leek when you prepared them but thats entirely up to you. Must feel good producing your own food. Must say the tea calendar lasted longer than it would in our house, hubby wouldn't have entertained it from the start. Going to miss the grimaces though 😂😂😂😂😂

Love a soup maker, you don't need to pre-boil the water, it does that when making the soup for you.
You could gather the rain off the shed roof into a water-butt, set up on a base & have an old bowl or bucket for washing veg'

You cut a lot of leek away, I use more, I wash greens and use in soup as well.
Pressure cookers work really well and so cheap to use

Hi Sean, we’ve been watching your vlogs for a few weeks now, it’s become a calming morning ritual.
We’re just over the mountain from you in Ferndale, but originally from England. My gardens are either rock hard from summer draught or a winter bog, so leeks would be a good thing for us to grow perhaps.
I agree about the Pukka tea, all a bit hit and miss. 😂

The soup looked good what a handy gadget. Plants looked healthy don't think you've had a bad one from them. Thought you wasted a bit of leek when you prepared them but thats entirely up to you. Must feel good producing your own food. Must say the tea calendar lasted longer than it would in our house, hubby wouldn't have entertained it from the start. Going to miss the grimaces though 😂😂😂😂😂
