Absolutely unbelievable. This is one of my all-time favorites, and to discover another six-and-a-half minutes of this amazing tune is such a thrill. I'll be playing this over and over and over and over...
That Oct.27,1978 was one hell of a night. It was a Friday and Conlon Nancarrow's 66 th birthday.I was in the 13 th row for the first show(but who asked me).The midnight shoe yielded this and Frank as usual on the 78/79 tour opened the second show with "Persona Non Grata", which that night was perfection, leading it to become Sinister Footwear Mvt.3.
OMFG - this is absolutely fucking awesome! I cannot believe this was never released anywhere - it's like a fucking war crime that this is held back from Zappa fans...thanks so much Timmo! True gold!
Wooooah shit, the crowd went crazy when the solo cooled down... I sure wish I could see a band making the audience get so enthusiastic after 13 minutes of this type of improv now a days....
okay, where the fuck can i get this on cd?!?! this is AWESOME!!!!!! the only version of this recording i have is the one on YCDTOSA Vol. 5 which ends after only 6 minutes.
L Shankar (not to be confused with Ravi Shankar the citarist) is a great musician (also a composer / conductor in his own right). Jean-Luc Ponty has also played this for Zappa. You can find this on YCDTOSA vol. 6
RUclips has not found a way to present multiple parts in a logical way, in that, if you watch part 1, then you wonder where part 2 is....combined with the fact that people have a short attention spans, or busy schedules, and you can understand that less folks watch part 2 into 1. Plus, some folks don't like this music. I do. To adapt to RUclips's lack of continuity, one can copy 'n' paste the title into the browse bar and change the Part 1 into Part 2, and voila, the continuing part.
The drums are also great, the synthesiser is also great. Frank Zappa put himself in a position where he could do anything and then he did. By the way where's part 3?
aye der joey!!! u mean u have it on you cant do that on stage anymore vol # 6! vol #5 contains contains a song titled "doreen" which rhymes with "thirteen", but unfortunately, no "thirteen". Aside from that, i cant help you wit yer request.
L Shankar, Indian violinist. Ravi Shankar, Indian sitar player. I saw L Shankar once as a guest of another rock band in '80/'81. Can't remember which band lol, but him I remember. He was a master. Never knew he'd played with Zappa too
I was at the boston show the night before & dammit the fucker didn't play this - most of the synth here doesn't do it for me, too much like jan hammer's tweets - overall this song is a fucking monster
Im 65 now and will rate composers and etc. FZ number 1

Yes.
I wish I had the power to raise the dead.
Wondering why 4+ times as many people checked out part 1 vs part 2?

Did Zappa use xenocrony on from this so as to record his solos on sinister footwear?? please answer
What is that instrument at 4:40?
hey joey, it's on vol # 6, not vol # 5. "doreen", which rhymes with "thirteen" is on vol# 5.
