Hi Chani. I’m in Wakayama right now. I have just bought a house and thrilled with my choice. Coming from the Gold Coast I’m finding it very very cold but that’s just because I left a constant 32° Have a fabulous weekend ❤❤
Wakayama is a great choice! I hope you enjoy living there. Yes we had a few warm days but the temps have just dropped again. We even had some light snow the other morning.
Nice to meet you! I’m Hitomi. I accidentally found your channel and I was so surprised to see your videos ! “It's because the locations featured in the video are within my living area. I live in Misaki town (the southeast part of Osaka(next to Wakayama-city),so I often go to Wakayama-City to buy some groceries or fill the tank, you know the Big Gas station next to Komeri-Pro along the Route 24. I have a feeling that my friends or acquaintances might appear in your video some day 😅. I recommend the Café Argo (coffee and curry are so nice!)with the red roof in Kada. It should be near your friend's house in Kada. Now I am studying English for more fluent speaking. Your videos are very helpful for me to study real English conversation 😊 I’m a middle-aged girl and love cats and every animals and nature ❤ I am so thankful for you to rescue your Millie-chan and she looks so relaxed and being comfortable beside you 😊. Stay warm 🐾❄️

From my observations, most of them are men, and they generally live with Japanese women whom they have married. I'm a Japanese living in Sydney (with 3 rescue cats!) and love watching your videos. Growing up in a regional town in Japan, your truely local video makes me miss my home so much. Looking forward to your skin care video! Im also curious about what you normally cook..Aussie/japanese fusion?
I really enjoyed seeing all the back streets and basic everyday things. Wakayama is very pretty and the little lanes make it very charming. Would love to see more uploads of exploring areas - something that isn't typically seen a lot in vloggers channels. Thanks for the upload.
One of my favorite videos of yours is the one on loneliness where you bravely enter a new bar for the first time and end up singing karaoke! What a stark difference this video is, you seem so settled in and have made a number of really lovely friends. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
Your hair looks really georgeous!!!! A phantastic cut and very shiny hair! well chosen stylist! It is great that you have friends over there - that makes a huge difference and makes you really feel "home" there. I was in the UK and it was really hard to find friends. After 7 Years just very few also foreign friends. But it was helping me somehow to settle on an inner aspect.
It was so lovely hanging out with your friends and meeting Tama 💕 I mentioned before that your hair looks really lovely so it was nice to see you at the salon, he does a really nice job. Have a lovely evening Chani and Millie 💜🦘

Noriko and Wayne look like a lovely couple. I'm sure the cakes you bought were delicious and the rest of the food looked great too. Your hairdresser really knows what he's doing. The colour and cut were both excellent and really suited you. You should definitely keep going to that hairdressing salon.

Hi Chani, I wanted to let you know that I really enjoy your videos from the comfort of my home in Glen Ellyn, IL. We have a great Japanese market near us called Mitsuwa Marketplace. Have you heard of it? A bookstore called Kinokuyana has a store in the Marketplace that I really enjoy. Thank you for sharing your Japanese experience!

I really loved this video Chani 😍 so many things you talked about, I was surprised about the cake number thing and that land at the end was perfect, I can just imagine the quality of any build over there
Congrats on finding your shoes and a hair stylist! I had that happen too where I saw something and then missed the boat! Really nice that you have friends and people you can visit with and those cakes look like artwork. Millie is gorgeous as usual. Macy you're having some milder weather but I know about those cold winds too. Have a great rest of your weekend
Heartwarming video and a lovely weekend routine 😊 the hairdresser did a lovely job on your hair ❤ It’s good to walk when you can especially while it’s cold. I have to walk my dogs early to beat the heat atm so I’m looking forward to autumn.
I really appreciate these calm, peaceful videos you share. Insightful to Japanese living while also remaining true to yourself and getting to know you better. Also, it's always nice to see your beautiful cat! Wishing you and yours a wonderful year from the US.
Love your videos. thank you for sharing! I just bought an Akiya in the mountains of Yamaga (about an hour north of Kumamoto city in Kumamoto Prefecture. The daily life you depict is 100% accurate! I moved here from the US a few months back with my husband who is Japanese- he’s been in the US for 40 years though so a lot of things are new to him. Everyday is an adventure!
Love seeing small streets like that in any country and they have so much character and often history. I tend to look them out here in scotland, which some people find a tad odd😝
If you ever find yourself looking for your next video topic, I would be interested in hearing more about the Japanese health care system. I saw a tv show where they discussed the issue of the increase of tourists and the need to treat them for emergencies. Apparently a lot of tourists don't get insurance and try to refuse care even when their condition is critical. Interestingly enough they had a feature of a hospital in Wakayama that employs an foreigner to help triage and deal with tourist patients.
Thanks, Chani and Millie, for another update on your adventures. My daughter is moving to the Tokyo region in September to live permanently, and I will be over visiting next March 2025 for 1 month. Will be joining your Japanese class after Easter. Cheers from New Zealand
It's great to meet the community you're building. Meeting people can be hard. Heck, just moving around America is isolating enough. I can't imagine moving to another country.
Hi Chani, thanks for your great videos. You should get a clothes dryer. You can probably mount it above your washing machine. In Japan most dryers run on gas (either propane or city gas). It will save you lots of time. We start the washer in the evening and put the clothes in the dryer in the morning.
I like your friends. I really like all your decisions, your car, the nice aesthetic in your house. Very wise. One thing caught my eye though and that's the gap under the front door. If you can afford to I would swap that rattly sliding door for a properly sealing sturdy swinging door.
Interesting tip on the odd numbers thing, thanks. I'm glad you found the shoes you wanted, I used to have some Converse high tops, they were so comfortable. 👍
Chani, it is great that the temp is somewhat warm in your area. Here is Kawanishi, it is coooooold. It snowed lightly this morning and the current temp at 6:15pm is 4C with a "real feel" of -2C! I use a Japanese tax specialist to do my Japan taxes. Just better for me working at home and not being able to read and write Japanese. I also use an expat specialist tax service for my US taxes. What is "potato bake"? Looks like fries on your plate, but not exactly. The lunch looks great...Yum! Thanks for sharing your weekend adventures. Great friends, good food, and a wonderful home (and daughter) to come home to!
Potato bake was on the table but not on my plate 👋 Just baked potatoes with cheese. As for my taxes, mine are really simple and not complicated at all so I can easily do it myself. The new app e-tax for Japan was tricky at first but the staff showed me and I think I can try it myself next year. Hopefully 😅
@@ChaniJapan What were the french fry (chips) looking things on your plate? US tax laws are more complicated including foreign bank information, high balances, what foreign taxes were paid on other US based income, certain transactions and gifts, and others. Luckily expats get an automatic extension to file so you can get all your company date, bank data, Japan tax forms done, and all the copies of documents ready. (It also helps when you dread "doing your taxes" and drag the process out .... LOL!)
Love your videos Chani, you show such a real picture of your daily life, actually you have started my 'addiction' on videos of life in Japan (well mostly shopping life in Japan, but I digress, LOL) hugs and kissies to Miss Millie!

One of my big regrets was starting a new job in a new city, being invited to lunch by some coworkers, and turning the invitation down because I was shy. You're right, you have to force yourself out of your social comfort zone in order to create a network of friends.
Love those transparent envelopes to hold important papers. ❤ hanging clothes to dry. ❤ all the little back lanes. ❤️ my Converse sneakers! So comfortable. I found my rosacea stopped when I went to a wheat-free diet.
Millie likes tummy rubs? My Gypsy loves tummy rubs too. I've heard most, people saying cats don't like their bellies being rubbed. I guess that's not true for all. Also I love the blue corduroy shoes!
Yes and really nice seeing some of the side streets and older homes. Are your friends able to do some gardening on the vacant spaces around them? Not sure how the government deals with that kind of thing
making friends in Japan is a bit different than the rest of the world I find...you have to schedule in hang outs. They don't do "spontaneous" usually. It can take a few months before you really make a friend over those hangout times. But you can be friends, you just have to make an effort. :)
I went from this to watching a new short on theflooftales, I wonder how Milly would go on a running wheel like that (a warning make sure you are not drinking anything at the last part of the short lol).
Loved your day-in-the-life. In an earlier video when you talked about your septic system, you mentioned that the outdoor water collection flowed to irrigate the fields. Do I have that right? Your area doesn't seem very rural/agricultural.

I consider that an eventful weekend 😂 thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching ❤️😀
Cute shoes!!
Onya John representing with the AirNZ hoodie!
I noticed that too
If only they started flying back into KIX! There surely would be enough demand now, even for a couple of days a week!
@mecha_genki or direct to CTS for the skiers
Love your new converse. ❤❤❤made me want to buy a pair too.😊😊
You should! They go with everything🩵
I went from this to watching a new short on theflooftales, I wonder how Milly would go on a running wheel like that (a warning make sure you are not drinking anything at the last part of the short lol).
I'd love to hear your Rosacea tips if you could share as I suffer too and I have tried everything going! Love your channel! ❤
Great. I will share next week ❤️
cute video, I am excited about the skincare video!
Me too. I’ve wanted to talk about all the products I found here!
Your hair is so naturally beautiful ❤️ Don't mess with it 🤷
Loved your day-in-the-life. In an earlier video when you talked about your septic system, you mentioned that the outdoor water collection flowed to irrigate the fields. Do I have that right? Your area doesn't seem very rural/agricultural.
OMG I love your jeans! You are so cute as a 46 year old mom you make 50 look like 30-
